So go back to your pasting of Utica and Endicott, and come back when you beat somebody out of conference during the regular season.

Blee dat, nome sayin?

Do the playoffs count? because I remember an RPI team beating #1 seed springfield at their place.

Of couse RPI isn't going to join the DJAC or schedule DJAC teams (they played Kean 3 times does that count?) that wasn't what I was talking about. It was that teams from conference A aren't better than teams from conference B just on principle.

"Now THAT's how you debate!"

cstater

this weeks games dont really matter that much.... next week be the deciding week in the NJAC.... big game! too bad it's fall break at cortland and the fans will once again be no where in sight for the biggest game of the season.... no its not cortaca!!

RPI
Percentage of students in top 10% of high school class: 63%
Average SAT combined: 1320
TCNJ
Percentage of students in top 10% of high school class: 64%
Average SAT combined: 1308

Too bad the boys from RPI won't come down from Mount Troy and play a team in the NJAC that has a similar academic profile. Perhaps then you'll have something other than a few old Kean scores to fall back on when it comes to trying to debate a subject you can't possibly support.

Good news about Ulysses – plus he has two weeks to rest.

The weather doesn't look too good for Saturday. I was going to try and take my 5 yr. old since she's actually expressed an interest in the cheerleaders. As for the TCNJ game – right now it looks like they could be playing in a quagmire at the worst facility in the NJAC. I think the Lions defense is way ahead of WPU's. TCNJ should win comfortably, but toss in the cruddy conditions and TCNJ's propensity to turn the ball over in the first few games and WPU might very well keep it close. Turnovers might decide the day.

Hopefully the weather will clear for the Montclair game. Sam Mills deserves a packed house.

Union beat up on them lions a few times I think RPI could handle TCDJ.

all this "thinking" makes my brain hurt. Dpad's right it ain't ever gonna happen! Sorry I brought it up Dirty Jersey!

I'm ghost... one.

Union I can respect.  They've been to the big game, and they prepare their kids with quality games throughout the season.  There is quite a leap between scheduling Muhlenberg and scheduling Endicott.

Phil,

Will P. got Turf last year.

I hope by 6:00PM it gets better. I may have to put on my yellow rain suit. Sounds like a Rowanism. :D

It ain't over till it's over, and when you get to the fork in the road, take it.

Wow union's been to the big game... what year was that? Not that it matters, but RPI went to the "game before the big game" and even though they played a cake schedule, and got curry in the 1st round, they beat the #1 seed AND Ithaca - a team that has WON the big game. Unlucky for RPI things fell apart after the 1st half against the johnnies.

RedTackle should have kidnapped Josh Nelson when he got to Minn and force fed Nelson car bombs the night before.

What you don't get is that most any good team can make the playoffs by "creative scheduling."  All you need to do is stack the weak sisters of the poor and run through them all, then finish in the top 2 of your conference, and hope for an invitation through Pool C.  It can be done, as you have proven.  But it is a gutless way to go about things.

So you made some noise when you got to the playoffs?  Yeah, you beat Curry (who cares).  You beat Springfield (that was a nice win), and Ithaca - who we also beat that season on their field, so again you didn't set the world afire.  You didn't accomplish anything that SJ Fisher, Union, Cortland, TCNJ, or a handful of other teams could not have accomplished given a Pool C invite.  The difference is those teams didn't take the gutless route, and lost a few games along the way.  Come to think of it most teams don't take the gutless route.  Union is one of them.  Even Hobart deserves some props for scheduling moderately competitive games with F&M and Dickinson.  Better even is you played Fisher yearly, until it was obvious they were getting damn good, and you dropped them for Endicott.   ;D

It's also funny you guys have played Kean.  Like I said, you will never challenge a top 3 NJAC team because your school prefers the easy route.  Funny how RPI dropped its "high academic standards argument" regarding who they play to set up the Kean games.  No doubt you would have dropped all your standards for William Paterson and Jersey City State too.  We see how you work.  But challenge Rowan?  "No, we only play schools on par academically."

Now like I said, run back to the Liberty League board and come back when you beat a quality team out of conference.  If you would like a list of quality opponents with stringent academic records, feel free to ask and any of us can draw you up a list.  And try to convince the Union crowd that what RPI has done is so impressive.  My guess is they see right through you too.  Until you challenge yourself your boasting is just that.

Nice post DP.... ;D I applaud you one karma point!

well that's a great 'IF' theory, but as for 2003, there was no IF. RPI went gutless, stole a playoff bid, and then won their bracket. Does that mean they didn't belong? If you want to take shots, maybe that #1 seed in '01 was unjustified (and by maybe I mean definetly).

So.... no more IF comments, and the worst part is that I started it. Apologies across the board.

Similar yet different topic. I have no idea how RPI determines their schedule. They have played Kean a few times, and Plymouth state (before they went into the tank). We had a decent rivalry with Hartwick when they were competitive too.

Maybe the endicotts and uticas of the world want to play RPI, boost their presense in the east... it worked for Utica.

 :o    Wow!!!

Way to go, DP... I'm guessing that was building up for a while. Dragon blood boiling over.

Much love Enginegro and RPI.  I enjoy your posts, and I spent a lot of time in college hanging at RPI with a buddy of mine who played football there in the 80s.  Good luck with the Liberty League, and here's hoping the recent picture of the RPI Cheerleaders is a sign of things to come.
