PG04 is looking for one more pollster for the east region fan poll from the NJAC.  I am doing it as I am unaffiliated for football.

Stalker,

Hope you had a good summer. I read PG04 and thought I would be a homer. I thought Montclair deserved a little more support last year in the poll. If you need another I would say count me in. I think the NJAC Pickem may be a bust this year. Seems like no support.

Two weeks in Montclair was ranked #4 last year in the East Region Poll, so i wouldnt exactly say they were not getting support last year...

I know... And I think mine was one of the polls had them a little higher than they should have been  All the polls are probably still in that forum somewhere

Check out my post from 5:57PM

For fans heading up to Cortland for the scrimmage with Wilkes today -

You are probably aware if you live in the Scranton-WB vicinity that I-81 is a mess in that area.  It was pretty bad near the NY/PA border a few weeks ago too, where I got stuck in traffic on a Saturday for over an hour.  It seems the southbound lanes have been worse than the northbound lanes, but I wouldn't count on zero delays.  Also consider taking the 476 by-pass around Scranton-WB.

Make sure you give yourself extra time to get to the scrimmage (noon).  And drive safe!   8)

Dan,
We would love to hear your post scrimmage analysis.  Can we get some basic formations and defensive fronts.  I would love to have an idea of what the Dragons are running on both sides of the ball.
Taste It!

Cortland definitely was the stronger team.  Wilkes scored once early, and then never scored again before I left after about 2 1/2 hours.  Cortland is spreading the ball out a lot offensively, and they were doing a lot of hurry up plays too.

I thought Miles looked good at QB and deserves to keep the starting job.  Pitcher looked good too, and hit Guaragano on a long TD pass down the sidelines.  Giuliano was very strong at running back and broke off a couple long runs including at least 1 TD.  I'm sticking by my prediction that he has a huge senior season.  The offensive line is big, and veteran, and definitely controlled scrimmage.

Defensively Cortland was much better in the scrimmage than when I saw them last week.  They were very tough against the run and continuously pressured the Wilkes QB, though they had trouble wrapping him up for whatever reason.

It's going to be a strong team this season, without question.  Wilkes should be competitive in the MAC, but I don't see them competing for the conference title.

I agree that Cortland was the better team but I am still concerned defensively.  If Wilkes had any receivers who could catch the ball it would have looked a little different.  They must have had 10 or more drops that could have gone for some yardage.  I know Miles is a senior and returning starter but boy do I like the way pitcher throws the ball and he is very poised.  I thought the OL was very good today.  Very few QB pressures.  Good day for transfer WR Woodard who is new from Morrisville, I think.

Good point Clandfan.  We were doing an unofficial dropped balls count on the sidelines.  At one point we had 14 Wilkes drops.  The Red Dragons have some experience issues in the secondary, but I think they will be fine even if the first few games are rough.  These kids are great athletes.

I also agree about the OL.  When I was driving into Cortland I had my XM tuned to Fox Sports.  They had a guy on who was analyzing recent strong D1 teams and how each one had a senior laden, experienced OL.  The Cortland OL performance spoke for itself.  And did you see some of the kids who came in as backups?  Holy cow, there are some huge kids in the FR and SO classes.

I do think that OL is key and needs to stay healthy.  They have been a little dinged up.  They do have some big young kids.   The younger Pitcher is a little underweight but has gotten a lot of first team reps at RT in practice and intersquad lining up across from Nagle.  There is this kid, billy castro who is a monster but got hurt, I don't know his injury status...they may be the most promising but have much to to learn.
Did you see the hit that Haas laid on a WR?  He had been kind of quiet in camp.  We need another big year out of him.  Nagle will also be a force.  We need to stay away from the injury bug.

I left a message over on the South's ACFC board for you.  I'll let you know what Red Hawk home game I will try to make.  My alma mater Lincoln (PA) returned football after 48 years and beat George Mason's club team 34-7 this past Saturday.  I had a great time down in Southeastern PA.

Good luck to the Red Hawks this year!

Nice to see that Lincoln has a football program again. Hey, Hey you're 1-0. You can always count on a dog and a brew when you return to the Train Station and Sam Mills Field. I'm looking forward to a real competitive year. Wilkes to open with is no give me for sure and Cortland is a Top 25 Pre-Season pick. Then you have the likes of TCNJ, Rowan, B-Port and the rest of the NJAC. Hope to see you soon
