Cortland 23, Montclair 17 in whale of a game at CNY. Andrew Giuliano 8 yd. td run in late going caps near 60-yard drive. PAT kick blocked. Hawks drive to CState 26 on their pass-minded final drive. Dragons take over on downs at 0:02.

Giuliano limited to 40 yards in 23 rushes. Miles pitches 19x30, 302 yds, 2 TDs.

Montclair 7-0 in first quarter followed by CState FG, then TD for 10-7 edge. Long Hawks dirve ends in FG at 0:12 left in half. Air score gives CState 17-10 margin through three periods. Jeff Bliss TD knots it for Mclair

Cortland attempted a PAT when they were already up six? I can't believe they would run it up like that.

Very exciting game.  Each team blew big offensive chances in the second half.  In the end, it was a gutty drive which won the game, culminating with Giuliano's run into the teeth of the staunch Montclair defense.

I got to meet the one and only K-Mack!  Besides that obvious highlight, I had the best set of pictures I think I've ever taken at a football game.  I'm really pleased with the results.  The hard part is choosing which ones to put on the website later.

I'll say this now because I know the Montclair guys are going to bring it up.  There was a no-call on what the Montclair fans thought was roughing the punter in the third quarter.  The punter was clearly roughed - by his own lineman.  I was right in front of the play, and clearly the Montclair lineman stumbled and fell into the punter.  It was a good non-call.

As far as the incompletion/fumble at the beginning of the second half goes...I missed it.  I was behind the Montclair bench moving to a new shooting position.  For what it's worth, if Cortland got a break on that one, then Montclair got a break later in the half when it appeared the Red Hawks player had coughed the football up but was ruled down (or was it incomplete?  I cannot remember).

With TCNJ losing to Brockport, Cortland is in a good position to get the NJAC NCAA auto-bid this season.  Kean, Rowan, and Montclair will be a dog fight for 2nd place and another NCAA spot.  From what I have seen so far, Kean is awesome and will be tough to keep out of the playoffs.

Congrats Rowan! Run the table the rest of the regular season and get the bid. For those who played football in 1983 at GSC, there will be a homecoming reunion next Saturday, 10/18 at 11:30 in the end zone. We will be an honored guest of the Alumini Association. If you are interested in attending, give the alumni office a call and ask for Paula or email alumni@rowan.edu
LONG LIVE THE BORO!

If you do ANYTHING, give it your EVERYTHING!

Congrats Cortland!  While at the Army game, all I did was text other former Dragons for updates.  I am glad to see we put a few TeeDers up against that stingy D.  Can't wait till next week to hit up the West Conn game.  Don't let up!
Taste It!

ahhh...sounds like I missed a really good game!!!!

I can't believe that NOT 1 person is talking about my KEAN UNIVERSITY COUGARS football team! They are playing great offense & solid defense, so don't count them out of that NCAA playoff bid!

4-1 Go COUGARS!  ;D

Cortland - 23     Momtclair - 17

Just got back from Cortland. It was a very good game. Both teams can say that they should have won the game and had more points, but give credit to Cortland, they came away with the win. We had a shot on the Cortland 25 with 4th and 10 and :08 seconds left. Again Congrats to Cortland.

A few comments :

1. The Cortland QB was protected very well, most of the game and he was accurate. The kid is talented.
2. Our #25 was getting beat pretty good all day with the long pass.
3. Our "D" was awsome !!!
4. Montclair played 110-60 and "Kept Pounding"
5. Our QB is coming into his own, he will be good. The "O" will continue to improve.
6. The game is tied with around 3:00 left in the 4th, we force a turnover, get the ball on the Cortland 9, Bliss runs for 5 to the 4, and on 2nd and goal we drop back to pass and get sacked for a 7 yard pass. For the life of me I can't figure that out. That was the game. Another sack, a penality and our field goal attempt was blocked from the 30. Can someone please explaine
that to me.
7. We proved we can play with a good team and highly ranked. Build off this game, run the table and let's see what happens.

LET'S  GO  MIGHTY  RED  HAWKS  !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It ain't over till it's over, and when you get to the fork in the road, take it.

Also, Montclair proved it can score more than 16. :)

Ex D3 -

Read a few posts back to find me talking about Kean.  Or go to the ER Poll forum, where I have been talking up Kean and ranking them highly.

Dave -

You have yourself a QB.  The kid showed a lot of guts driving the Red Hawks down field, especially in the last 90 seconds.  His problem was every single snap was around his ankles.  Did you see that?  Are you missing a center or something?  Somebody has to do a better job snapping him the ball so he has a fighting chance in passing situations.

Great win today for the Red Dragons!  Got to see it thanks to the webcast!  Will be at West Conn Saturday hoping to make it 6 in a row.  Every great team forms its own identity and this group of Red Dragons seems like a team that simply finds ways to win.  Queston for the long time fans and alum of Cstate...is this the highest we have ever been ranked in the top 25?

Your are correct. We are improving every game. What are your thoughts on my comment #6? To be honest I was not sure how we were going to do today. We played hard and had a chance for the "W" We need to keep improving and one never knows. Also these guys keep playing hard. Past teams used to take a break and never "Kept Pounding" These guys are different. Rowan appears to be coming together along with Kean. It will be a real test for us down the road.

Yeah I agree Dave.  I think they outsmarted themselves, and should have kept it on the ground for at least a play or two.  As it was, they did exactly what Cortland wanted...allowing them to rush the QB and knock them out of scoring position.

Hi Dan and Dave and all:

Agree with all on game and very impressed with Montclair D and size!  I know you are questioning coaching late in game but I also have to think that Giuliano's TD late was given to us...it was the only way that Montclair gets the ball back with a chance.  Then they go and block the extra point which is just what they wanted.  Giuliano doesn't  gain two yards on a carry all game and all of sudden he goes untouched from 8 out.  I have to believe that is the only way coaches saw that they could have a chance was to let him score and I give them credit, they almost pulled it off.  Huge win for Cortland.
