QuoteAdditionally, how did you become the unofficial spokesperson/analyst for RU?  You would be much better served to worry about your Lions.

I wasn't aware that there was a test involved for being allowed to state personal opinion on this particular website – or being limited to only speaking of ones alma mater. Besides, we're growing old waiting for you to a make a single football related post – not to mention a cogent point. C'mon. Rowan v. Cortland. Enlighten us.

Tell me something, do you intend on attacking every single post I make – even when I respond to others while complementing Rowan?

Dr. xGSC
I'd respond but that would be self-serving, gratuitous and somehow against the Marcus of Queensbury Rules of posting. Although I will say a photo of me in a Linfield jersey inserted into every post would look rather sporting.

Phil, you're far too modest. "Sporting" just doesn't do it. Rather, I'd say "stunning" or "smashing" or "dazzling." You in Linfield purple and red would be a genuine act of supererogation!

There is just too much testosterone in the NJAC room or some posters just have too much built-up hostility and this board is just 1 of their 12 steps to becoming a better poster.  :D

I think one of the big keys for Rowan is to hamper Cortland's running game and force them into passing situations. I don't think the Red Dragons can win it being forced to throw.

The Profs must get points, preferably TD's when they move into the red zone.  Penalties have been high the past couple of games, many causing drives to stop. Can Rowan reduce the penalties?

The Profs are averaging 200 on the ground and 300 in the air.

If Cortland is running well and or getting the big play, it could be another close one.  I think the Profs pull away in the second half.

Drx:

OK but how unfortunate that "step 1" has to be taken in this or any other room of Pat's many-roomed mansion.

I'd much prefer that said step be made, say, in kindergarten under the guidance of a very stern, beady-eyed-and-pursed-lip teacher.

Or, better yet, at home at perhaps age 3 or so.

In other words, why should their problems be our problem:(

Here's a football related post to satisfy a disgruntled, unnamed fellow poster (by the way, its Marquis not Marcus).

I agree with everything that you stated but they have to let Orihel throw on 1st or 2nd down and keep him from consistent 3rd and long situations.  Cortland sends too much pressure when they find you 3rd and long and they have the guys (Montpetit, Haas, etc.)who can bring it.

If they can force Smith to throw, they have to send people and bring pressure.

You're right that its imperative to get 7 from the red zone.  Cortland always plays RU tough and in their house with a lot on the line is not the time to settle for 3 or even worse - none!

Time for Joey D to do his thing!  Hope the weather is kind.

Forecast for Cortland on saturday is mostly cloudy with 40% chance of rain. Temps in the upper 50's.... BRING ON THE RAIN.... harder to throw in the rain?!?! gotta keep "Joey D" at bay this year!

It's great that Cortland fans have actually showed up for games this year!! To bad they couldn't of scheduled "fall break" LAST week when their was a bye!! Small crowd once again in mid october for the more important game of the year!

The team that has fewer mistakes will win saturday. Although Smith's not had a great year, he could get the biggest win of his career if he doesn't turn it over and doesn't get shotgun snaps over the head....

i'm prayin for rain and Rickert being back to his usual self!

You guys stole the Rowan JT statue!  We're supposed to be playing for that trophy this weekend!

The weather is looking worse and worse for this Saturday.  I can see a very cool, rainy, breezy day in store for Rowan at Cortland.  Honestly I'm not sure that kills the passing game.  It probably makes it more important whether you have the wind at your back or face, and rain tends to lead to big plays when DB's or WR's slip and fall.

John McGraw

Weather won't be too bad this weekend. For the first five games for Cortland, the weather's been absolutely perfect with sun and 70s, no rain or driving wind. Nice to have a bad weather game every once in a while.

Last year was a wacky weather day at Rowan. I think it went from overcast to rainy to sunny back to overcast then to complete downpour (after the game). Rain didn't seem to hamper the passing attack last year in Glassboro so unless its pouring cats and dogs, I think Rowan will still come out throwing the football. When you're two top receivers are both 6'3" 220lbs going against corners giving up 50+ pounds and 5 inches of height, I think you have to get the ball to them.

Cortland did have problems tackling Pat Thompson last year and at least for Cortland, he's moved on. I know that Rowan was having some superback health issues against TCNJ. Is Encarnacion back in the line-up? If not, I'd expect more passing (if thats possible) than running with Nadyr Albri and Rob Richardson. I think the key for the Cortland defense is stopping the big play or to have a "bend but not break" philosophy. Let Rowan move the ball all they want, but don't allow the big completions to Wright, Silva, D'Imperio, Katcher, Stys etc etc. D'Imperio's catch last year for the winning score was ridiculous. If he's tackled after he catches it rather than bouncing off tacklers at will, maybe Cortland keeps Rowan out of the end zone. Obviously I can't say that with certainty, but there's always a possibility.

Other key in my mind for Cortland, ball control. If Orihel doesn't have the ball, Rowan can't score. Sure, ball control is big in any game, but if Cortland can control the ball and take long drives and put points on the board, they have a chance to win. That means running the football with the backfield monster of Rickert/Bowser and Giuliano. The Profs run defense is pretty good so this should be an interesting battle.

I'm pretty excited about Saturday since right now, no offense to the rest of the conference, but this appears to be the de facto championship game, barring any upsets. Anyone making the trip up to the Stadium?

Just checked Accuweather's hour by hour forecast for Saturday and it looks like clouds from 5 AM to about 10 AM then partly cloudy until 1 PM then partly sunny the rest of the afternoon with wind pretty consistent at about 15-18 mph.   However, the Weather Channel says rain all day ..... go figure.

Encarnacion should be back at 100%.  RU doesn't really have any major injuries.  The bye week helped get everyone healthy.  Hope that's the same for CSU.

Should be a good game.  From what I hear, RU is really excited and certainly not underestimating Cortland.

Is there a place on the internet where the game can be heard/seen? Obviously, I'm an Ithaca fan but the Bombers should easily dispose of Lyco this week so I'd rather focus my energies on what seemingly is always an exciting game. Let me know.

Go with the scattered showers/windy forecast.  Accuweather forecasts from one room with no windows out of State College.  They have no idea.
