Congrats to MSU...this was not a pretty game to watch frankly from either side of the field.  While MSU put up the win, they showed no offense.  Cortland's offense was horrible.  Pretty apparent that they are floundering at the QB spot even with Alex Smith in the mix although real tough to tell based on one series.  Not sure why he was one and out...recognize it was a terrible series but let the kid get some reps in before pulling him....wonder if he was injured on the sack???  That would be a kick in the you know what for CState.  Speaking of kicking...the one bright spot at the game was MSU's kicker and punter.  Cortland was pinned deep virtually the entire game due to the MSU punt team who did a fine job.

Cortland D played well not allowing an offensive TD but that's not enough if you can't rush or pass effectively. At the end of the game, my wife looked at me and said, it could be worse....we could have a 3.5 hour drive home.  Nice to be 45 minutes from home!  MSU has a nice facililty...good food according to my youngest (not sure thats a rave from a kid who eats anything), the band sounded great and gave the game a great feel...build a better offense and the fans will come!  Congrats MSU.

Congrats to MSU.  Disaster for Cortland.  We are in a world of hurt and I mean that both literally and figuratively.

Figuratively, we are all but out of a bid for championship unless something really strange happens and it isn't going to.

Literally, we are down to our 5th, and last QB and half the season is left.  Both Woodward and Smith are out with apparent significant shoulder injuries
So:  backup Barcomb preseason injury, out for year.
Starter Pitcher, out for season in game two.
      Woodward out indefinately.
      Smith out indefinately.

Offense in the hands of Freshman Rob Von Bargen who, by all accounts, is not ready.  The offense will have to be watered down for Von Bargen who has only worked with scout offense.  Throw in Giuliano who only runs Cortland's version of the wildcat.

We have to find a running game.  Actually, if you take out sacks, Pitcher is still the leading rusher on the team and only played 2 games!  We have no QB and our starting tail back, Russell, averages 2.8 yds a carry.  Pitiful.  it is not the OL.  The kid stops when he hits the hole or is about to get hit.   The rest of the team averages 4.5 yds. per carry.

Not that anyone really cares but I think it starts with getting Russel out.  I really like the freshman Autera.  Big strong, fast, and runs hard to and through the hole.  Time for some changes.  My guess is that next week we start with Russel running off tackle left for no gain.  What a nightmare.

Rams....I am sure that we would be happy to take Fisher off your hands right now...lollipops and all.  Better yet, send us your back up...Boysen? is it?

I'll tell you what, I'll give you Fisher and Boysen to start for us. That would make me one happy Red Hawk fan. ;D

So that explains Smith out after one series...unbelievable that CState has lost 2 more QB's.  It could not be worse for them.  Agree on Russell, he dances way too much instead of putting his head down and hitting the hole.

I know its Sunday morning quarterbacking but the offensive game plan seemed weak too.  Seems that CState opens every game with a run off the shotgun.  And why ask a guy, Smith, who hasn't played a live game in 2 years to run the option on his first series.  We risk injury to a guy who has a history of injuries and end up with the  ball bouncing around in our own red zone.  Luckily we recovered but thinking back, calling that play was a head scratcher.

Let's hope the team can rally around this weeks starting QB and let's hope he's the following weeks QB!

Season's over as far as any post season play is concerned but we still have Cortaca.

hammond and his pro-TCNJ  posts are quickly reminding me of ESPN and their love affair with Tim Tebow...

Ray Miles played all 13 games last year. Ironically, Cortland probably had its best backup QB situation in a long time last year with Pitcher behind Miles, and Miles stayed healthy.

I'm surprised to see Montclair and Cortland getting more votes then Rowan in the D3 Top 25, others receiving votes. I'm no Rowan fan, but to me it does not make sense.

Agreed. It's just one voter and while I can't tell him who to vote for I did drop him a line to make sure he knew what was up for next week.

Ok...what a shock...rumors about CStates QB situation...word is that Hudson Woodward is done and that Alex Smith is not so he will start this week.  Too little too late unless as was stated, something very odd happens.  Still it's something to look forward to if true.  Seems it might be as a friend of mines son is playing for Cortland on the scout team.  They usually play a JV schedule but he said the remaining JV games have been cancelled.  That would make sense as we are down to 2 QB's assuming Smith is good to play.
