Got a nice little D3 Football fix yesterday. Went to the Montclair Football page an low and behold the 2010 Football Schedule was posted. I seems that everything moved around. Usually the last month of the season is Cortland, TCNJ, Kean and Rowan. Now it is on the front end of the season with the exception of Cortland. Sounds a little strange, but such is life. Does anyone know much about our opener with Westfield, besides 7-3 and giving up 11.5 points per game. I thought we would stay closer to MAAC for our out of conference game. I think Buff St. goes to the E8 next year and there will be (2) out of conference games. It's March and I'm getting itchy for some football.  ;D

Here is a nice feel good story about the Kean football team.  This seems like a great program.

Were Pep a Cougar fan, he'd be a Kean observer.

Pep,

That would be funny if it weren't pronounced "Kane" instead of "Keen"   ;)

This is a great story.  I think other teams do/have done similar things.  The Rowan team has adopted sick kids in the past.

The NJAC Board has been dead as expected so I ventured to the Empire 8 and noticed the USA Today Preseason Poll and have the following comments :

1. Whitewater S/B #1. Why is MU #1? It is no big deal, but it is still principal.
2. Del is definitely a Top 25 but not #8.
3. You could make a case for Albright, but their stud QB graduated, so OK.
4. You could make a case for Montclair. The "O" will be OK or better, but a few loses
on "D" may force them out of the Top 25.
5. You can also make cases for Ill Wes, Case W, Miss Coll, Hampt Sid and Hopkins,
but don't know personal loses or gains.
6. Why did the Pointers and H-S make the Top 25?

Preseason is Preseason and this allows all of us D3 Football fans to have a little fun. All comments appreciated.

Let's  Go  Mighty  Red  Hawks !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Below is what I just posted on the NEFC Board. Less then (2) months we start to rock and roll. Time for everyone to wake-up and give their comments and predictions for the 2010 NJAC Football Season. I hope someone is awake and most important of all, God Bless our Troops and hope everyone had a safe and healthy July 4th Holiday.

Well, D3 Football starts in less then (3) months. I'm a Montclair fan and wondering what to expect from Westfield State. By looking at the numbers it appears that they had an average "O" 21.5 ppg and a real good "D" 11.5 ppg. It seems like they are losing (3) on "O" which should be an improvement, but lost (8) on "D".  You guys are coming to Montclair on Sept 11th and just being curious. The Montclair "O" will be improved, but (5) loses on "D" will be a test for us. Don't think we will be a Pre-Season Top 25 and we will have a lot to prove after a real good season last year.

Nice to see the board very consistant, no chatter at all.   :-[

Below are my picks for the NJAC this year :

Montclair       9-0      10-0
Kean             8-1       8-2
Cortland         7-2       7-3
Rowan           6-3       7-3
Willy P.          5-4       6-4
TCNJ             5-4       6-4
B-Port           5-4       6-4
Buff St.          3-6       3-7
W. Conn         3-6       4-6
Morris            1-8       1-9

This should cause a little chirping with Montclair losing (5) on "D".  :)

This would be cool but impossible. The total number of conference wins here = 52 while the total number of conference losses = 38. Right?

Rams,
You've accounted for 52 wins against 38 losses for ten teams playing against each other in conference. That would be quite a feat! For that crummy math please make up the difference by handing out the extra losses to Montclair!

Saw a guy down here with a Rowan T-shirt on at the gym. Very strange to see among the usual Texas A&M, Texas and Houston shirts.

Well, you know how it goes -- all of the children are above average. :)

Hi Everyone,

I was bored at lunch and did the best I could. I knew the numbers would be perfect ;) but thought it would generate some conversation about where the NJAC would shake out, but I guess I was wrong. ::)

Phil : Too busy surviving out there, but we will make it. Are you coming up north this year? I think you boys are coming to Sam Mills Field.
It ain't over till it's over, and when you get to the fork in the road, take it.

Yes, I'm heading north... but straight over Jersey and on to Scotland next week. A few days cruising the western islands on a 50 ft. "dinghy", followed by a week on the east coast with 12 friends and several golf courses.

Haven't been back to Jersey in about 14 months. It's tough to schedule with work and kids who want nothing but Disney World. Perhaps I'll commit to the trip once I'm assured that TCNJ can manage to keep their opponents under 30 ppg!

I was flipping the channels over the weekend and saw former TCNJ hoops star Derrick Grant playing for the Harlem Globetrotters. His nickname was "Dizzy" from Princeton, NJ.
