It ain't over till it's over, and when you get to the fork in the road, take it.

QuoteI still don't understand how you can have an MSU team ranked 13th Nationally and in less then 48 hours have them out of the top 25. I would have the same issue if it was any other team in our conference. /quote]

dlip concurs and thinks this really is unacceptable. There is no way, a team ranked 13th in the nation, that loses a one point game to a very solid in conference opponent, should get dropped more than 12 spots as a result.

dlip personally does not think MSU deserved to be that high (13th) in the poll to begin with, but that is irrelevant to the conversation. This, to dlip, shows an obvious east coast bias, a bias that is a result of the lack of perceived strength of the East Region. There obviously was little confidence in MSU to begin with (only there record kept them high) if they were to be punished this much in the poll for a very small margin of defeat. It seems to dlip as if some voters were waiting for any reason to drop them. Just some thoughts...

I guess you have to ask yourself this:  If Montclair played the #x ranked team, Montclair would _______ (win/lose) that game.

This answer is............................?

I have no idea about those Iowa teams, Trine, Cal or Pacific Lutheran, Depaw, Wabash?  How the hell could you konw?

The tacky Spanish terracotta school buildings and lack of parking/tailgating areas should prevent them from ever going above 20.   But maybe that's just me.

How the hell could anyone know thats the point dlip is making. How could anyone know enough to warrant that much of a drop in the poll from a one point loss? dlip guesses the poll is being finalized by the lord who knows all  ;)

What a lively conversation!  The poll has accomplished one of the things it should be there for, to create discussion!

I don't mind if a one loss team is out, but don't add fuel to the fire for the NCAA Committee.

Don't put it in the hands of the selection committee by missing a 30-yard FG and having an XP blocked. It's amazing that people are already blaming the possibility of Montclair missing the playoffs on a poll influencing a selection committee and not at the feet of their kicking game--pun intended--where it belongs. If Montclair misses the playoffs, it's Montclair's fault and no-one else's.
Seeing the word "pun" I feel suddenly compelled to respectfully request that all references to "puns" whether intended or not, be saved for the Cortaca page when available and then limited to a maximum of 50 uses this year!

Pun You!!!
Clearly "intended"

Yeh, otherwise it woulda looked like this...**** you.
Very nice.  I got the meaning, just don't understand the attitude and why?

no attitude intended...was simply poking fun at your 'pun' post.

82, if you think there's a dominant team in the East, who do you think it is? And please, please, please don't say who I think you will......

Clearly its Ithaca...now leave me alone, I am studying the election trends for tomorrow.

Obvi d3football.com's top 25 has influence, they have you on selection show Saturday every year...

Because our poll has influence? No, because I'm a person capable of talking knowledgeably about Division III football and without bias.

man...somebody forgot to take their humble pill today...

I am sorry but this is ridiculous...You still have yet to give me one valid reason why MSU has dropped from 13 in your polls to out of the top 25...

I am glad you are sorry, but I have given you reasons. I'm sorry you don't recognize them as valid but we've been doing this Top 25 thing for a while and I know how to read the tea leaves.

Voter confidence in Montclair has clearly been pretty soft, and now, potentially, you "have" to rank two NJAC teams above them. You either have to vote for three NJAC teams or pick and choose which side of the triangle you leave out. No-win situation for a voter to have three 1-loss teams who all split against each other and try to choose where to put them.

why was Montclair ranked so high in the first place?

duh...he told you...its the "tea leaves".  The LL uses science to decide these issues...the E8 uses passion and sometimes aggression...and d3.com....well they study plants.
