Mr. Ypsi

My impression is that the NCAA selection comittee no longer thinks in terms of North, East, etc., but now goes by the four top seeds, then builds regionals around them.  IF that is true, I'd see the regionals built around UMU, UWW, plus two others, probably NOT inlcluding an east team.

What is thought of as an East regional would probably be built around UMU.  I just don't see an East region team in the top 4.

pg04

I think if Salisbury won out, they would keep UMU out of the region with most of the East teams in it.  I believe Salisbury winning out in the E8 and beating Wesley would be Impressive enough to get them in as one of the top 4 seeds.

The IF is big, but I think that in that scenario, Salisbury would be on top of a bracket

As the only TCNJ fan on this board – and living 1,400 miles away – I've waited politely for the several Montclair fans who frequent this board to post their take on yesterday's game. Twenty-four hours and change later and the only comment we have is that the pick-ems are up? Well Rams, at least we know that you made it back safely from Ewing!   ;D

Besides house sitting for my daughter, son-in law, Grand Daughter and their (6) month old puppy while they visit kin in Alabama, traveling back and forth to Ewing, walking for Alzheimer's today and just trying to catch up on the NFL and D3 it's now time to evaluate yesterday's performance. Geez this really hurts.

Congratulations to TCNJ on their win. I said earlier this week that we were not a Top 10 Team and needed to prove ourselves. Then we go out and lay a rotten egg. I think the kids played hard, but again I go back to our vinella "O" and blame it on coaching. There was a lot of alum on our side and I was not the only one who stated how predictable our "O" is. Don't use the excuse that we have a back-up QB. I feel that Cathy is doing a good job, but we do not utilize his speed. Dis he force a ferw and have (2) picked? Yes, but he threw many that could have been caught and were not. I'm tired of off tackle right and left. With all the mistakes we were in the lead and did not win and credit to TCNJ. Get creative, please. If we run the table, we win the NJAC and go to the dance. The kids want it but if the "O" play calling doesn't start getting creative the kids will be home for Thanksgiving instead of playing football. We have talent, could make a nice run, but the coaches better get their offensive s?!t together. Sorry for ranting. :-[

Going by the stats yesterday it looked like TCNJ totally shut down the MSU running game. Take away D'Andrea's 130+ yards on two carries and the Red Hawks only had 30 yards on 20 carries. Other than the picks, Cathy looked like he had a decent game. Should be a fun game for TCNJ at Cortland next week...

Can't imagine that Montclair looked any worse than Rutgers did on national TV on Friday. Two missed field goals from a distance that I could even make, 3 INTs from a freshman QB and a dropped touchdown pass that a kid in junior high could make most nights. Someday I might succumb to being a U of T or Texas A&M fan.

Drive time to colleges relative to Phil:
U of Texas = 2.5 hrs
A&M = 1.5 hrs
Houston = 45 minutes
Rice = 45 minutes
TCNJ = 24 hrs

Over time I'll probably wind up following one of the lone star teams. I'm sure my daughters' college selections will have something to do with it!

BTW, you'll be happy to know that my niece, who began her academic career at LVC, graduated with honors from Jefferson University Hospital and has begun her career in physical therapy.

With all due respect Rams...coaches didn't throw the interceptions and drop the balls that could have been caught.  Fisher is gone...how much do you actually want Cathey to run?  Do you have a lot of faith in your 3rd QB?  You've been whining about coaching for the four years that I have been posting on here.  Whose to say more aggressive play calling wouldn't lead to more turnovers and more losses?  Would we complain about coaching then, too?  Bottom line, the players have to make the plays.  That goes for Montclair, my Cortland, or any other team that plays the game.  From where I sit, I see a Montclair team that has done well over the years with less than overwhelming talent.  Coaching has to account for something.

It's been awhile but with interesting things happening in the NJAC and Cortaca coming up, I figured I would drop in for a post.  I have been following things from afar, but does a 2 loss Cortland have any shot at the NJAC? From the looks of it, Rowan, Kean, and Montclair all have to play each other which could put 4 teams with 2 conference losses. (Please correct me if I am wrong).  While the chances of all of this happening are very slim, what would happen?

Clandfan,

I'm not saying that I want Cathy to run, but I am saying that his ability to move around and move out of the pocket when necessary is helpful, also he has the ability to roll out. That is a wepon that we have not had for years. Yes, he threw (2) picks, but we had the lead in the 4th and lost. I agree the kids have to exacute and I also feel that the kids give 100%. My complaint is with the "O" Coordinater. His calls are way too predictable. I'm not the only one that says that. I'm talking about alum, parents etc. Finally, I'm not talking about being agressive with the play calling, but rather mix it up and be a little creative.

By the way, nice job on your picks last week. ;)

Hey CState:  I do think that is a slim chance and someone smarter will have to iron it all out.  I have seen all play and personally, I think Rowan is in the driver's seat.  I don't think Kean can beat either Rowan or Montclair...that would put them at 6-3.  I don't think Montclair can beat Rowan with their backup QB.  That puts Montclair at 7-2.  I think Cortland "should" win out but TCNJ and Brockport could have something to say about it.  Let's assume Cortland ends up 7-2.  It will come down to Rowan vs. TCNJ during the last week.  If Rowan wins, they are 8-1 and get the AQ.  If they lose, once again, Montclair, Rowan and Cortland are all 7-2 and will have beaten each other and have the same combined record against league opponents.  similar scenario to last year.  BUT...don't rule out TCNJ.  They beat Montclair.  If they run the table against Cortland, WConn and Rowan....they win the AQ...Kean, Montclair, TCNJ, Rowan all control their own destiny.  If any of them win out, they go.  If they all beat up on each other and Cortland wins out...Cortland could be in the mix for a tie breaker.  To sum it all up...NJAC is a mess and I have no idea what I am talking about.

Montclair wins out and goes to the dance!

TCNJ played a very good game, credit has to go to them...It's a great rivalry, TCNJ game out swinging...MSU had opportunities to capitalize on certain things and we failed to do so...With two int's and a blocked punt, a few missed field goals as well as a few kickoffs which went out of bounds and gave TCNJ the ball on the 40...MSU still had the opportunity to win...
MSU's recipe for success works though, we control the line of scrimmage with a balanced attack and we do not deviate from our game plan.
We have one of the top rushers in the country who has the ability to break a tackle and out run an entire defense, all it takes is one missed tackle and he is gone, hence the two long runs...
I am quite confident that we will take it to West Conn, go into Rowan with a full head a steam and see Kean at home, the last game of the year for what will be the NJAC championship.....

Well said and I think Cathy will play a big roll for the Red Hawks. D'Andrea is just a beast. You are also a nice guy on these boards. You should be in politics.  ;)
