I forgot to ask....how do the players like the 4 hour+ bus rides and hotel stay? Do they get meal money or anything?(Rowan and TCNJ, since they are state schools I doubt they have much budget).  My son has a friend who plays at a large D1 school and they get $50 each week because they spend every Fri night before the game in a hotel, even for home games. I was really surprised to hear that (the $ part).

Desertraider

I have been watching ESPN2 all day and the ticker at the bottom for NCAAF has the Div.1 FCS semi-finals with times - but nothing on the game tonight. Thanks for nothing ESPN. Even if you are not a fan of either team make it a D3 football event. Remember that one day your team will be in the Stagg and you will want networks to cover it - lets give them some ratings so that can happen. If you don't watch the game thats fine - just turn it on. Maybe if the ratings are decent ESPN will stop moving the game to friday (a TV dead zone!) or moving to a smaller ESPN network so they can show some damn Poker tournament! Even if you not a fan of the teams playing - we are all fans of DIII football!

Welcome again newjerseyfan8:  I am sure your son is an outstanding football player.  There is a lot of talent in the NJAC.  That being said, there are many Freshmen who do not travel.  Hopefully he will.  Assuming that he travels, there is no $$ allowance but the schools cover all travel and meals for the team while they are on the road.  The post game meal typically consists of a personal pizza or sub for the ride home.  Good luck to your son.

The D3 Final Poll came out today. As far as the East goes it makes sense with Salisbury, Kean, Fisher and Del Val. I thought Hobart should make the Top 25 (I guess thein shorten schedule, but the way they played against Wesley was big) and Cortland (2 close losses and an ECAC win I thought would have gotten them there too).

Now as a Montclair fan, I feel Giancola and O'Conner screwed the pooch by playing Fisher. Please understand in now way am I blaming Fisher, but how could these 2 guys decide to play Fisher after sitting for 4 weeks and only praticing one day before the Kean game. Don't even give me the crap that Fisher gave us the best chance. He did not. This is not sour grapes, buy these coaches IMHO did not give the players a chance to win and as a result watched the playoffs and now are out of the top 25. All I am saying is that if Fisher was yanked after 3 intercepts, and by the way he could not even plant and throw, things may have been different. Sorry for the rant.

Happy Holidays, ah screw it Metty Christmas & Happy New Year To Everyone.
It ain't over till it's over, and when you get to the fork in the road, take it.

Trio of Red Dragon All-Americans

SUNY Cortland senior offensive tackle Billy Castro, sophomore wide receiver John Babin and graduate student quarterback Dan Pitcher have been named to the 2011 D3football.com All-America team.
Castro was selected to the All-America second team. Babin and Pitcher were honorable mention choices.

It's not football, but I know as far as basketball goes most of the time they'll get a pizza at home games, and a sandwich or some other catering on road games.  I'm sure it's the same for football as well.

Sitting back on a lazy Sunday. Things are looking good, the Yankees are beating Philly (I know it's pre-season), The knicks are beating the Celtics and the Rangers are beating Boston, then to top it off the Red Hawks have put out their 2012 Schedule. Got my D3 Football fix and started to surf around. :)

Montclair loses (8)O/(5)D and our QB, Kean loses (6)O/(5)D +QB, Cortland loses (6)O/(5)D+QB, TCNJ (6)O/(6)D+QB and Rowan loses (5)O/(5)D. The MAC Challange has Montclair vs Leb Val, Kean vs Albright, Rowan vs Del Val all tough games and TCNJ vs FDU. Montclairs other OC game is against Salve who returns (13) will be tough.

If Montclair has Cathy back to QB or a good Jr. Trans, Scopa will run well, but no D'Anrdea and Skinner will step up on "D". No room for the "O" coordinater to screw the pooch as he has been doing. That being said I predict :

1. Montclair 9-1
2. Kean       8-2
3. Cortland  8-2
4. TCNJ       7-3
5. Rowan    6-4
6. Willy P
7. B-Port
8. M-Ville
9. W.Conn

You can interchange Kean and Cortland. If Montclair does not return Cathy or bring in a Jr. Trans at QB I reserve the right to move Montclair to (#4) or (#5). That being said it should be a fun year.

With Buff St. now out of the NJAC, W.Conn leaving in 2013 and B-Port gone in 2014, I would think Morrisville will soon be out and that would get us to (6). I'm sure Cortland will also be courted. Could the NJAC lose it's AQ by 2014 / 2015?

Am sure Cortland has been courted .....absolutely. Just like they should have been courted years ago .....like when they couldn't get enough games with state public schools to fill out a schedule. Uh, check with Alfred ......uh, check with Hartwick. Corts went out of state. The NJAC offered them a chance to play in a very respectable conference at a time when only Jersey schools (public for the most part) were members. Don't know when Cortland will get over being stiffed by NYers ......maybe not in Coach Mac's time. We shall see.  We get a big kick out of Empire 8 wooing Buffalo State and Bports. Gotta have those NCAA tourney numbers ......

AUKaz00

Cortland and Moo'ville make a little more sense in the NJAC than Buff State and Port just due to geography, so I don't think they'd be swung to the E8.  Hopefully Cortland can schedule two upstate teams and keep their travel equal to what it has been.  If that's the case, then travel costs arguments for a switch would the same as they were two years ago when the E8 was desperate for teams.
Check out the official card game of the AU Pep Band - Str8 Eight!

Doing some checking, I noticed that Kean is not playing Wesley this year but is going down to MHB. Very impressive.

Hmmm, 3 hours from me with Texas A&M at the halfway point. I'd have to root on MHB!

Wonder who's funding this? Interesting scheduling choice.

Also wonder when the NCAA sanctions are coming down on ol' K U over the grade fixing, AD firing, extra aid for athletes ... not to mention the no confidence vote for the President and the possible loss of their Middle States accreditation.
