I am a Salisbury fan, but wanted to throw some congrats to a very good Rowan team...you guys were the real deal, and I know your future is bright with the QB Hamersma (sp?)...that kid is good and the rest of your squad is as well

The Cortland Offense seems to hit in spurts.  Since the Kean game they have been blah.  Prior to Kean they seemed to move the ball quite well.  If they play as they did v Rowan, the game may stay interesting.  Anything less and it may get ugly. I have followed the Dragons and here is my breakdown of the past month:

1. Kean- A solid team that came out swinging and penalized themselves to death in their game.  Was a
potential play in game for Kean
2. Willy P.- Cancelled to the storm giving a long week off.
3. Ithaca- These games have always been rather close no matter who has had the better team.  The long
week may not have helped the Dragons stay sharp.
4. Framingham St- Hangover after Cortaca plus 3 prior NEFC beatdowns lead to complacency and a near
                             upset.

These excuses are all that give me hope for this weekend.  I know deep inside, Cortland has the ability to play a great game and give Wesley a run.  The Dragons haven't played great in the past few weeks but they have found ways to win.  I haven't written them off just yet.  These thoughts are the opinion of a Dragon who's hanging onto the hopes of major upset.  My last trip to the Dance was in '97....Man I feel old!

I was going to say that from watching the Ithaca game from my small computer, Cortland's offense seems to be your basic spread offense with nothing special that really scares you.  Pretty conservative spread, with no real playmakers to worry about.  If they execute and throw sharp passes, they might have a chance.

It ain't over till it's over, and when you get to the fork in the road, take it.

Truly inspiring. God bless both of them.

One of our former players was faced with playing running back his senior season or donating one of his organs to his sister so she could live. A suitable donor was found before he quit the team and he never had to make that decision. That story really touched me....but not as much as this one. Heres wishing both the donor and the recipient many healthy, long years.

So the NJAC takes on Southern Virginia...and replaces Western Conn...some long road trips for NJAC teams.

Long drives is right. It's 5 hours from Trenton (NJ) to Buena Vista. I grew up in Central Jersey and went to W&L in Lexington, across the river and train tracks from Buena Vista. It's going to be a hike for a lot of those NJAC teams. SVU was a non-entity when I was at W&L, so despite being less than 10 miles apart I couldn't even tell you where the campus was other than the town. Next time I visit the alma mater I'll have to stop and see what SVU looks like now.

Beautiful area of the country for anyone making the road trips. VMI and W&L have beautiful and historic campuses not far away. Good chance to drive part of the Blue Ridge Parkway (Skyline Drive). But I'm not sure you'll get too many fans travelling to those away games!

So, interesting story. For Christmas, I bought myself a handful of old Ithaca College football game programs, and one of them was from a game the team played against Montclair State in 1968 (In MSU, so this was actually a Montclair state program), when they were known as the Indians. On the cover is a MSU defensive lineman named Tony something (his full name escapes me) and in the corner is a a drawing of a cartoon Indian in a feathered headband saying, "Sock it to 'em, paleface!"

It's almost amazing to think that 45 years ago, that was considered acceptable. I know MSU was hardly the only school to have a nickname like that in the 1960's—heck, some still do—so I'm not trying to call them out for some half-century old decision. It's just astounding to see how things were back then compared to today.

Try re-watching some old movies. There is a reason Disney will never again release Song of the South or, if you really want to be amazed, pop in Blazing Saddles. Times have definitely changed. You'd never get away with it now. Only Dumbo's enduring popularity has saved it from being permanently condemned for the 3 crows...

Southern Virginia with just under 750 students --- 48 percent male. Started football in the early 2000s. Was NAIA member. Became D-3 NCAA provisionary player the past season. Went 5-6. NJAC for football-only begins in 2014 when football conference membership is expected to be eight with Brockport exit that season. West Conn just departed. SVU known as Knights and is a full mmber of the Capital Conference. Interesting acquisition .......
