Montclair at Rowan tonight. Montclair's 1-2 record takes a bit of luster off the game , but a rivalry game nonetheless.
Slight edge to Rowan despite Montclair's very good defense. At home and Montclair has a terrible offense. 72 yards rushing per game and 135 passing a game. Must be able to do more with the talent available in Northern NJ.

Well said. +K

4 games out of the box and we score 40 points. 10 per game. Don't think that is even enough to beat the sisters of the blind, but we did manage to get 1 win and that is thanks to the "D". Time to recruit like d3viewer said. I think I have been saying that for a few years. >:(  We will be lucky to get 4 wins at best. Nuf said, don't want to ruin the rest of the day.

I thought that the game was going to have a little bit more scoring, I didn't think that Montclair State was going to hold Rowan to only 7 points and I was expecting some big time special team plays out of each team.

The Cortland score is not leaving me with a warm nor fuzzy feeling right now! A win is a win....when its over,... but I figured this game would not have been close.

What's Cortland's deal at QB? Week 1, they throw for 400 yards, and this week a different QB runs for 200? This seems like a strange switch, even for a Cortland program that seems like it hasn't had a stable QB position since J.J. Tuthoweveryouspellit was behind center. Was there an injury? And if it IS an injury, and Tyler #1 is out for awhile, what does it mean for Babin? Can't like a receiver as unstoppable as Babin catching one ball for six yards. Turns a weapon into a diversion

And what of this offensive line? 10 sacks allowed in two games after allowing just 16 in 11 games last season. Cortland was  ineffective running the ball in Week 1 as well. Excluding sacks and the opening play of the game, there were 20 carries for 37 yards. Was the QB move made to get mobility to counter a weaker O-line?

Bombers:  here is something even stranger about the QB situation.  Lets start with the fact that our offensive line is not what Cortland has enjoyed for the past 5 years or so.  They are young and inexperienced.  Going to be a long year.  Soooo....with that being said, Week 1 QB Augliano was started because of his ability to run the ball.  The knock on him was he doesn't have the arm of the other QB Hughes.  Augliano gets sacked a bunch of times but throws for 400. (mostly yards after catch).  He is a little dinged so Hughes gets the start in second game.  Better arm but the knock on him is no ability to escape.  Only throws for 60 and runs for 200.  Go figure.

Tough one today at SJF.  This isn't going to be pretty I am afraid.  I hope I am surprised but our OL is no match-up for SJF DL.  We have to get the ball into the hands of playmakers Babin and Autera.  Not going to be an easy task.  I believe QB Hughes gets the start today but both will probably play.  Its against my nature but I'm thinking Fisher in a landslide.  I really hope I'm wrong.

Listened and Live Stat'd the game last night. If we didn't have three consecutive turnovers, who know?...The SJF guys have been saying the same things in regards to their own turnovers. Looked like nobody wanted to force any 3 and outs!  Losing is bitter, but I feel we still have a shot an the NJAC crown and auto bid!.. Just don't like getting beat by 2 in -state neighbors.
Taste It!

Another Cortland question:

What, besides the injury, has happened to Justin Autera?

In 2010, he runs for 1350 yards and 18 TDs. Now he's an afterthought in the offense (12 carries in two games) but he's the primary return guy? I gather the injury had something to do with it, but he's apparently still explosive enough to return kicks. How does that work?

Well, first he goes back near the goal line.  Then as the other team kicks off he watches the travel of the ball and looks it into his hands and then takes off running trying to get behind his blocking before the gunners get him.   ;D  Sorry, couldn't resist.

Another tough weekend for NJAC teams. Brockport collapses against Alfred and Cortland couldn't get a quality ooc win.

William Paterson and TCNJ won as I expected.

MSU vs Rowan game: very boring game from an offense viewpoint. In the 2nd half Rowan seemed fine going 3 and out because the Montclair O couldn't get out of their own way. MSU will have a tough time winning games if the O has to score 21 points. Another road trip for them as they go to TCNJ for another Friday night game.

Big conference weekend coming up with Brockport vs Rowan and Kean vs Cortland.

The only shot we have to score 21 points is vs. M-Ville and we are on the road.  ::)

That is one anemic Montclair offense!

catchball

All I can say is, sad. On both sides of the ball,  I like MSU but it really pains me to watch these games. I think the local high school can put up more points than them. Something has to change, motivation seems to be non-existent, offensive line is terrible, Davies getting sacked, Scoppa has nowhere to run...I know everyone wants to blame the coach and at times I agree, but the coach doesn't play the game. I could go on for another hour, but I think I'll go fishing instead.  Rams, I'll see you at the next home game.

I would have to agree with that. Very sloppy game by both teams. Alot of penalties by both and the turnovers by TCNJ which kept the game very close. MSU D played good not great.

MSU goes for a fake fg in the 4th but nobody blocked then they get it back 2 plays later from a TCNJ fumble and get a fg blocked. MSU run game non existent with a 2.5 per carry average on the season and already given up 28 tfls for 106 yrds.. Can't win much with that average. For some comparisons in 2011 MSU averaged 5.2 per carry and gave up 54 tfls 175 yds.

From what I seen with the O, there are players at the skill positions but with a pocket passer there seems to be a contrast with the QBs and them. Eventuallty MSU has to move towards a spread O with a dual threat qb unless you find a stud passer.

Looking ahead the only game I see them favored in is Morrissville and even that is on the road. I see them finishing 4-6 at best.
