JT,

Not to be critical  :), but you repeatedly mention Brockport. Salisbury and the like as being in the AFCA Conference in the around the region blurb.  It is actually the ACFC...

Anyway it was a very good piece besides that!

I can't believe I'm still a second stringer!  ;)

Seriously though, I am looking forward to listening in this weekend to my Golden Eagles against the Red Dragons! Should be a good game!!

Cortland-Brockport will be available online at WBSU's website..

Good luck with the stream, I know in the past I've had problems with it. There will be no Cortland streamed broadcast of the game but if you're in Cortland county and the southern Onondaga county area, the game can be heard on Newstalk 920 WKRT with yours truly.

I'm expecting a spirited affair from both sides. It'll be interesting offensively with both sides replacing four-year weapons in Darnley and Davis. I think Brockport's offense will be ahead of Cortland's because they return more skill players and especially a lot more receivers. Backfield edge leans towards Brockport too returning Dan Lopez and Brian Wise. Though honestly I can't say I've seen Wise play that much even though he's been an interchangable back. Rickert's starting for Cortland at the tailback slot after playing fullback two yrs straight. Cortland does have a good number of younger running backs - Dustin Bowser, Brendan Hill, John Marmet, etc etc if Rickert falters early in the season.

Defense wise, Cortland I feel is ahead. The majority of the defense returns thats played together the last two years and matured as a unit. Brockport's defense is usually stellar but had problems last year in the secondary. We may see a low scoring affair. Should be a great game as always though the 'Port's won eight of the last nine meetings. Anyone think these two should play under the lights next year in Cortland? It's not an overnight for Brockport since its only a 2hr drive at most. I doubt it'll happen but its fun to play make believe  :)

I have to give a decided edge to Brockport in this one.  The Cortland offense has a lot to prove, and until they prove it I think Brockport will be too tough to beat at Special Olympic.  The Cortland offense was held scoreless in the Red-White scrimmage, and held scoreless at Fisher in the scrimmage.

Not good.

I don't get it, because they have a mature offensive line, and improved QB, and a good stable in the backfield.  If they get the offense rolling, the sky is the limit for this team.

The Prof first wave into Virginia has begun.  I'm about 90 miles from enemy territory.  Va Beach tommorrow, then Prof vs. Captains on Saturday.  Thanks to a home equity loan, I'm able to afford gas down and back  ;D

Here are a couple of links from todays Star Ledger, one is a story on AJ Roque from Kean, it seems that Racioppi is high on him.  The other link is to their NJ D-III preview capsules, not much but better than nothing.

:) I transferred to TCNJ from a D 1-AA school and I guess things have changed even more then not too long ago. I dont like mentioning names but we had some 1-aa transfers and one or 2 1-a transfers but they gave us slack to get in. I havent been involved with the program much i wonder if these kids flunked out who left?

It's finailly game day. :D The cooler is cleaned along with the grill. Off to the store soon to fill it up and head to the Railroad Station for a little tailgate before MSU faces off against Iona. The MAAC posters on Hansens are mostLy picking MSU to lose, along with W.Conn. I hope we can straighten these posters out between 1:00 and 4:00PM. The Red Hawks are young, especially on O, but I think they will surprise a few teams this year. Good luck to all the NJAC today !!! Coach G. looked good on chanel 12 last night.
This is what D3 is all about.

LET,S  GO  MIGHTY  RED  HAWKS  !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It ain't over till it's over, and when you get to the fork in the road, take it.

JT,

I just read the pregame notes (scanned it actually...gotta get moving today) and want to add a few things and correct an error.

The reason for the Brown Jersey issue was not a CNU decision. RU's away jerseys had not arived and they requested the change, not CNU.

I think, for this game at least, CNU will not be as good. Here's my limited knowledge take:

1. O line - 4 new starters - 5 new starters today.
2. D Line - e'body is new
3. Our 3 LBs are beasts - but now it's only 2 - Freeman was called to active duty last night!!!!!!! Katrina strikes CNU!!

CNU will be a very good team this year...just not in the 1st game against RU.

Be safe...

JT

CNU85,

Sorry for the mistake on the jersey's.  I alluded to it last year, and no one corrected me.  A few of the players last year had no idea why they were wearing brown jerseys... except maybe to make them retain a little more heat.

Brockport strikes first on Cortland with a 38 yard field goal set up by a good punt return.  However The Golden Eagles have absolutely no yardage on offense.

3-0 Brockport about 2 minutes left
