Wesley is playing Virginia-Lynchburg, which is a little disappointing.

There is a hard cap at 32 teams in Division III football. I think it's a non-starter to try to expand that out. The Division III presidents would be very unlikely to expand the season an extra week.

I think Wesley is disappointed as well. I think some one else was in line but it looks like that didn't work out.

Thanks for the info, Pat. In D3, cost is the driver. D1 it is revenue!

And that's only if Va-Lynchburg still has a school by then. I've read that they have serious financial issues.

I remember in the early 2000's Montclair & Rowan found it very difficult to have a 10 game season. People were afraid to get a "L" on their schedule. Rowan went to teams like Southern CT and Montclair went to Iona.

They weren't afraid, they just didn't want to go to Glassboro and sit on those crappy stands that they had back then..  :o

Funny but Wesley played Wisc. Madison in the 90's and that was the last game or class that school had!!!
It' just a schedule filler unfortunately. but I am sure Coach Drass would rather a game than another open date

Are you sure you mean Wisconsin - Madison? Drass may be a good coach, but I think the Barry Alvarez led Badgers would have crushed Wesley. ;D

Not sure which Wisconsin school you meant....Milwaukee stopped playing football in the 70's, I believe.

LOL. Wisconsin-Madison is the Badgers, PA_Wesleyfan. I think it was 1997 or 1998 that that other Madison program shut down.

Pat and bill

That is the school I am talking about. I think that was their first year and that season only lasted 3 games.\

@d3jason

It was Madison College and it never opened. Played three football games and was supposed open on September 21 for classes. But it never happened. That was a long drive.

Wow, that's an interesting story to tell the grandkids!  I was the starting QB for Madison College...we played 3 games and the school closed before I ever went to class!  :o

I just noted that on the Wesley Alumni Newsletter.  Disappointing to say the least!  At least Wesley's overall opponent quality will be the most consistent in years!
