Definitely a solid game for Wesley today.  The defense only allowed one TD (the other was a pick 6 from the backup QB) and Callahan, other than the two picks he threw, torched the secondary in the three quarters he played.  Big plays scored today.  Special teams is getting better, but they committed a slew of penalties, though.  I was worried about Kean with its offensive numbers coming into the game, but the defense quelled any concerns right off the bat.  The team is getting better as the season moves on.  I am liking what I am seeing with the Wesley secondary doing more to contest the wide receivers closer to the line.  That helped today in mitigating the crossing routes that were causing Wesley problems earlier in the season.

IT had problems with the camera they were using for the video feed.  Chalk it up to teething problems.

Thanks Ski! Hopefully for next weeks feed they will have it sorted out. It worked beautifully for the So Va game.

I think this game was definitely an improvement for the defense. The only TD they allowed came on a short field after an INT. As for Rowan, I think wesleydad said it best. As good as Marcelin is, Rowan will have to throw if they want to stay in the game. I am really excited about how well the running game has come along this year behind Baynard. It is something Wesley has not really had since Aaron Jackson or Mike Pennewell. Do ya think this year's offense is better than last year's?

After Rowan, MSU, then Salisbury and WP. I am excited for the Salisbury game. A route 13 rivalry that has the potential to decide the NJAC champ. But, one game at a time

Callahan is a monster, and the commentators voice is quite interesting.

I'm told that the "old fashioned" tone of the voice is done on purpose for flavor.

I just noticed that Southern Virginia is a Mormon School affiliated with the Church of Latter Day Saints.  Are there any other d3 schools that have the same affiliation?

Not according to this link:

I always thought if BYU put out a d3 school, the potential to have a powerhouse football program is there.  I've coached a few Mormon kids in HS who go to BYU for school, but would have been great d3 football players if there was another option.  A quick glance at the website for SVU looks like the Athletic facilities aren't really up to par yet though.  Maybe they have a bright future?

Not up to snuff is an understatement. It's been a while since I've been there (5 years), but SVU was... not attractive in a not attractive area. Buena Vista is very much the "wrong side of the tracks" from Lexington, where VMI and W&L sit in a beautiful 19th century town. But SVU is a young school, I think it is less than 20 years old, so there will need to be a few generations of alumni roll through and donate to really get it going. From what I understand, the school itself is affiliated with Church of LDS but not supported by the church. So money probably isn't rolling in from those tithes.

The Southern Virginia name is about twenty-five years old but the school itself, previously known as Southern Seminary, has been in existence in Buena Vista since 1900, progressing from boarding school for girls to junior college to four year institution. It went coed in 1994. (Info from Wikipedia).
I can remember guys heading over to Southern Sem for mixers when I was at HSC, and the competition with W&L and UVa was apparently pretty spirited.

Interesting. The school essentially started over in '96 when the LDS flavored board took over. Prior to that it was barely around as a school anymore. Lost accreditation, dropping enrollment, etc. I remember becoming aware of it in the late 90s when I was an upperclassman and we scheduled them for soccer. Before that I spent 2 or 3 years in Lex and had no idea they were there. I just assumed they were new at that point. Guess I should have looked at the history, but the only things we ever went to BV for when I was a student was river canoeing/kayaking, a cheap golf course, and cheap places to store our dorm stuff over the summer break...
