Phil - you are wrong on everything that you have posted.  Alercio wanted to stay because of his family and the only reason he went to Castleton was when Hamilton told him that there was no way that he would ever let him be the head coach.  The DC is still at the college as a professor and was a former NFL player and was greatly respected by the players and staff.  Money had nothing to do with him not staying part of the program.  Hamilton got rid of him to allow his son to take over.  Regarding the rave review the one way that you get rid of someone is to say what a great guy he is so you can get someone to take him off your hands - that is exactly what happened.

The NJ budget cuts had nothing to do with what has happened to the TCNJ program.  Speak to coaches around the league about what has happened.  You are clearly passionate about TCNJ - that's nice but your facts are 180 degrees from the truth.  I was part of that program during this time period and know the information from inside.  Not from the stands or from a post.  I just wanted people to realize what is happening.  Its become clear to me that there is no accountability for what happens.  I find that sad.  Last year 10 players quit that could have helped that program succeed and repeat as Champs.  I suggest that you examine this without the rose-colored glasses.  If you love the program, then demand accountability from those that run it.

mwafb:  I think it is an interesting take on what may be happening at TCNJ.  As a first time contributer with such a statement, your motives will obviously be questioned.  Assuming you don't have an axe to grind, it is an interesting take.  I am one of the SUNY guys so I can be somewhat unbiased on this one.  If what you say is true, we will hear and see more over time.   I am not prepared to cry nepatism and foul based on one defensive performance.

Ahhhh game week is finally here in Cortland.  U of R scrimmage showed signs of inexperience but promise.  Looking forward to a great season.  I think the scheduling gods looked favorably upon us starting our first three games at home with a young and inexperienced offense.  Of course we step right up in week 2 with Rowan and that will be a difficult game for us but first is Morrisville who got whooped by Hartwick who actually displayed some semblance of a running attack to start the post Boltus era.  I am looking forward to seeing how we stack up.  We have some skilled players, just inexperience.  3 games to start the season in the friendly confines of our great facilities maybe just what the Dr. ordered.  Good luck to all this season.  The air just smells like football, doesn't it?

RedDragonFan

I agree clandfan....to steal a line from Apocolypse Now....I love the smell of football in the morning...smells like victory!

Can't wait for Saturday's game vs Morrisville.  You are right, 3 at home to start is exactly what this team needs.  Saw lots of raw talent in the scrimmage but experience is clearly what they need.  Tough act to follow after last year but confident that Coach Mac will make it happen!  Are you ready for some football?  Ok...no more stealing lines...promise!

Let's get it! C-State lookin to get it off right.  Very tru about the rotchester scrimmage.  Slow at first looked like we were gonna be struggling, but the kids turned it up and i think if you had to have a score it was about 4 Td's for cortland vs. their 1 Td.  So it looked good.  Also some close ones, almost had a pick 6, but ball was dropped, and it looked like if they were actually allowed to hit the qb, he would of been hurtin a little after the game.

Overall, pretty impressed on what they've done so far.  First three home sounds nice, even though I know cortland FB loves away games.  Anyway can't wait till sat to see the kids run it.

How did the new quarterback, Pitcher, look in the scrimmage against Rochester? And since I am already posting, how did U of R look?
GO FISHER!!!

clandfan,  I can understand the doubt.  In time you will see.  He was also the DC last year when TCNJ averaged giving up 400 yds a game.  Players were told by the AD that he would not be back, unfortunately he did not tell the truth.  Its a shame what has happened to a proud program.  However, on the bright side the offensive coordinator is very good and they are doing things offensively that hasn't been seen in a while in that program.  One of the big things is that they are not trying to fit a square peg in a round hole.  The offense is taking advantage of the skill position kids they have.  Not much of an offensive line, but sitting in the shotgun and running the spread minimizes a weak offensive line.  Defense is simply sad.  When they start playing the upper echelon teams in the conference (kean, rowan, cortland) they will be exposed in a big way.

U of R first:  First team, first drive looked like world beaters.  Made cortland look silly.  QB was crisp and our secondary supposed to be pretty good.  Rochester scored easily.  After that, virtually nothing.  Rochester Defense looked good at times, They were solid on short yardage and forced us into a FG when we were 1st and Goal from the 3...first teams.

On Pitcher:  Hard to tell from the scrimmage as QBs were off limits.  Pitcher throws well and creates well off the run and you couldn't get a sense of that in scrimmage.  He is very good but the key to his success and our offense will be the OL...they have to get up to speed quickly.  very inexperienced but showed promise.

Well the true mark of Jr. then will be to see if the Defense improves over the course of the season.  Time will tell.  One game does not make or break a coaching career.

I thought he looked ok out there.  He made some nice throws.  Made a long, I'd say 40 yd throw to the 2.  But they failed to convert it to a TD.  I thought Hajnos looked good out there as well.  When the other coaches in the league find out he's still around, they won't be happy.

Ex D3 Athlete

I'm surprised that NOBODY's talking about Kean's offensive backfield with the addition of Jason Gwaltney @ RB this season? Gwaltney & Jared Chunn @ RB behind the blocking of FB Sean Atkins complemented with a QB as accurate as Thomas D'Ambrisi I think the Cougars could be a force in the NJAC this season! ;D

Gwaltney should be good. Lord knows he's been on enough college football teams at this point. Was it two or three chances with his D1 school with a couple of arrests and a conviction? Toss in a JUCO then a DII school in his home town – only to be disliked by team mates and then tossed by not following a post season conditioning program...

Yes, I'm sure Kean is his dream school. I'm also sure his last day of classes will be the day before the last game of the season – if he's there that long.

Sounds like the second coming of Artis Garris.  Gwaltney is only going to Kean because NJCU no longer has a team or Coach Miller.
