...and I think we're being asked to take his word as fact. There's a difference. I suppose I can tell you 2+2=5, but it don't make it so.

Rams, I didn't say which school or which team! ;D

scoreboard on main page showing cortland up 14-7 in the 1st qtr

Halfitme at Wilkes and things aren't looking good for MSU, they are down 16-3 at the break.

Running game isn't working at all for the Red Hawks, just 19 yards rushing, plus two fumlbes, one of which was ran back by the Colonels for a touchdown.

Check Wilkes athletics site for updates, they have live stats.

Interesting that it looks like Morrisville is keeping close with Cortland today. Keeping my eye on that game since Montclair host Morrisille next week.

12-0 Profs halftime.  Good defense and special teams.  Offense a little out of sync.

cstate19

Cortland up 26-17 with about 5:30 to go.

2 missed XP's and the running game is awful.

Kean lost to Delaware Valley College 30-17 but that's not the bad part!
The bad part is Jason Gwaltney got carted off the field in the 2nd quarter after a 14 yd run & it didn't look good for him! I heard Keans Defensive CoOrdinator say that he will be out for the season! That might be a wrap for his career if he tore his knee up bad! Someone with specific info on what happened to him post it so I can get the 411 on what went wrong?

You never want to see that happen to a kid.  He apparently worked very hard in the offseason.  Rowan had a great RB who was getting NFL buzz go down with an ACL, MCL, and LCL in a Hobart playoff game in 2004.

I was wondering what happened to him. I was following the stats – he had 45 yards and about 4.5 yards per carry in the first half. No matter my personal thoughts on his enrollment at Kean, this isn't what I'd want to see happen.

Kean was going in for the tying score when they had a pick returned 90 yards for a TD.

Not a good day out of conference for the NJAC. I thought Rowan was clearly the #1 team heading into the season – as opposed to Montclair and Corltand. Based on today, I might be right.

A little report on Kean-DVC...

As referenced below Gwaltney went down with an injury of some sort to his lower body.  He had knee issues at West Virginia in 2005 and this past off season after playing at CW Post.  I have no knowledge or nature or severity of the injury other than that he was carted off and didn't return.

He had a solid start before the injury.  He's a big kid who can take a hit and keep going a lot better than many running backs.  The Kean offense on a whole looked out of sorts in the first half with shotgun snaps going awry and defensive penetration.  I'm curious whether they were out of sorts because it was their first game or because they were trying to integrate Gwaltney or something else.

Kudos to the Cougars for putting that behind them and playing a very good second half.  D'Ambrissi (Quarterback) does a really nice job rolling out of the pocket and throwing on the run.  Chunn (last year's NJAC Offensive MVP) was held in check, but his skills (speedy, shiftiness) play to Del Val's strengths on defense (speed to ball).  Cade is a nice weapon at tight end.

If the Cougars have a weak spot, it's along the line where Del Val punished them in the second half.  Someone who was at field level mentioned that Kean only had three defensive linemen.  Gotta build some depth there.

Ex-D-3 it's not his knee but it's bad...broken ankle

Cortland shook off the cobwebs yesterday and they will be a work in progress.  I still maintain that they could be very good despite the absence of a run game to date.  This is the most glaring problem for Cortland right now.  Morrisville is big up front so I don't want to diminish their effort.  They have had a week to make some adjustments.  Hopefully Cortland can too as they now go into their second week.  We need to finish plays on both sides of the ball.   As for our young OL...pass protection was terrific.  We need to be able to get a better push on short yardage.  We failed on 4th and 1, 4th and 2 and several 3rd and short opportunities.  If we can establish some run, Dan Pitcher will be even more dangerous.  He can certainly throw with strong accurate arm and will take off with the ball if he has the opportunity.  With the exception of a couple of series, Defense really stepped up.  Hats off to Morrisville.  Good luck to Red Dragons.  They have some work to do with Rowan coming to town.
