I'm here to put the NJAC on notice ... not only is Kean a force this season but they will be formidable for many years to come!

Let's not go overboard here. Win the conference and avoid Mt. Union in the playoffs (not so hot for recruiting when you lose by 8 TDs), before you start talking about the impending Kean dynasty. For now, you should be very happy that you're no longer lumped into the same sentence as Paterson when talking about the different tiers of the NJAC.

Well it's 35-6.  I think they missed another extra point.

Nice dlip is pulling for the profs to get back into their old ways. Hopefully this W give them some very positive momentum heading into the rest of the 09 campaign.

Congratulations to Pep's alma mater, Morrisville State, in getting a 25-17 win at Western Connecticut today in NJAC play.

Cortland gives up a 68 yard TD run by the punter (who hurdled a tackler) after a low snap with under a minute to go in the half.  21-7 Dragons.

Is it just me or has Cortland's punt return team given up a lot of big plays over the years?  The Hobart NCAA game comes to mind.

Yuck.

Hobart's myriad of trick plays though I thought, including a fake punt, were the difference in the game. In a straight-up contest with no trickery, I think Cortland wins that game and moves on.

That was a sloppy game on both sides, but bear in mind that Coach Cragg had been running crazy plays all over the field (run multiple fake punts inside their own 30 yard line) for nearly a decade before that game, so at a minimum, Cortland got seriously outcoached.  It's something you always have to be prepared for when you play them.  When they played SJF (2007), it was 3-0 in the 3rd and bart runsa  fake punt from the 11 needing like 8 or 9 yards and they got a portion of that, but SJF stops them, punches in a relatively easy one starting in the redzone and game's pretty much over.  That's the difference.

Anyone hearing rumors of a new to the team QB for CState?  Is that even possible rules wise?  I am the first to admit I have no idea.  They also may be without captain Lou Crispo who went down during the Kean game.  They put in a kid at nose tacke that got man handled by the Kean O line.  Looked like Crispo was ready to return but heard another rumor that he might be out for an extended period.  That would be another big loss.

As long as said student athlete is academically eligible and has remaining NCAA eligibility, I don't see a problem. The rumor is making the rounds because I heard a vague reference to the mention of a new quarterback in the post-game show last week by your radio guys.

My question is, does Pitcher apply for and receive a medical redshirt? I know Alex Smith could have done this after getting hurt as a senior but chose not to.

Hello All:  Cortland with a nice dominant win yesterday but a lot of mistakes.  Buff State has a long way to go until they are competetive in NJAC.  Just not very good.  Woodward managed a good game but had a couple of miscues with exchanges with his running backs.  Cortland finally pounded the ball yesterday and I give credit to an improving offensive line and a weaker oppoinent.

Will be interesting to see what role Smith plays next week.  I think it is great to have an experienced QB who knows and understands the offense.  I too wonder about game shape and the health of his knees.  Does he start or play a back up role as Woodward so far is managing.  We desperately needed a backup player who understands the offense.  I understand the freshman is just not ready.

Pitcher is eligible for medical redshirt and I believe will apply to keep his options open.  He is already eligible for next season and, assuming a healthy recovery, will play.  The question will involve the seaon after that.

My time spent at "Sam Mills Field" yesterday was very interesting. Tailgating and Homecoming was great. Got to talk to a lot of ex players. The stands were packed, I was guessing around 5,000 and the stats showed 6,337. I guess the number is somewhere in between . The place was rocking. Now down to the game.

If the "O" playes like this the rest of the year we will never beat Cortland, TCNJ, Rowan and Kean. Fishers numbers were 13-33-4 and thats how you spell a loss to a decent team. Happy feet and throws lolly-pop passes. Willy P's (2) TD's were from Fisher interceptions. Everyone knew when Bliss was running, keyed on him and very little yards. Felt sorry for the kid. He had some slashing runs at the end and did better. Fisher is afraid to run or get hit, but in his defense during the end of the game he stepped up and ran for some nice first downs. He has to do this more and keep the "D" honest. We now know he can do it. I blame the Coaches for a lot of the lack of "O". The "D" played really well (A-) but on the field a lot.

Next Saturday will tell what Montclair is all about. The "O" has potential and the coaches need to get their act together and make it happen. If not an ECAC bid will not even be in the picture. Let's go Coach G and Coach O !!!!!!  We still have a chance to make it to the dance !!!!!!!!!!!!
  110 - 60 and "Keep Pounding".

LET'S  GO  MIGHTY  RED  HAWKS  !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Attention : Montclair State Players And Coaches

We were picked as 7.5 point underdogs at home against Cortland in the OAC pick-em pool. The points for and against stats per game are 32-23 for Montclair and 26-17 per game for Cortland.  If that don't get you fired-up nothing will. No Respect.

Honestly, I doubt they'll care about someone out of region saying that especially since most of what they have to go on is the Poll and the fact that you lost in a stomp and Cortland lost in a closer game.

Looking forward to a drive of under an hour to see a CState game...This past weekend was a long time in the car but wouldn't miss a game!  While the score was a blow out, CState definetely has some work to do.  The punt turned touchdown was bizzare.  Low snap that bounced to the punter, he realizes he will never get it off and takes off to the right...the kid was an awkward runner and hurdled someone about half way to the end zone.  Awkward or not, he scored.

CState will breakdown the game and look for ways to improve I am sure of that.  A little better each week for a relatively young team is the right way to go and they seem to be on that path.  Still interested to see how the week unfolds with Alex Smith in the mix. I said last week that Hudson Woodward could go into a tail spin or step up and fight for his spot.  While there were some mistakes, he stepped up in my book.  Also very nice to see a RB putting his head down and running north south without trying to dance...this kid Sair deserves more touches...
