Attention : Montclair State Players And Coaches

We were picked as 7.5 point underdogs at home against Cortland in the OAC pick-em pool. The points for and against stats per game are 32-23 for Montclair and 26-17 per game for Cortland.  If that don't get you fired-up nothing will. No Respect.

Honestly, I doubt they'll care about someone out of region saying that especially since most of what they have to go on is the Poll and the fact that you lost in a stomp and Cortland lost in a closer game.

Just trying to stirr things up a little with Montclair. They need to find an identity and learn that you can't turn it on and off. We have not played the best of the NJAC yet and if we play the way we have it will be a long year. We are definitely not using Bliss to the best of his abilities. Fisher cannot throw lolly-pops all the time, zone in on one receiver, and for some reason refuses to scramble and run. Every team knows this. At the end of the Willy P game he scrambled for (2) first downs at the end of the game. This proves he can do it. If we get beat by a better team so be it, but we can't beat ourselves. In my opinion this week at "Sam Mills Field" vs Cortland will tell what this program is all about.

Looking forward to a drive of under an hour to see a CState game...This past weekend was a long time in the car but wouldn't miss a game!  While the score was a blow out, CState definetely has some work to do.  The punt turned touchdown was bizzare.  Low snap that bounced to the punter, he realizes he will never get it off and takes off to the right...the kid was an awkward runner and hurdled someone about half way to the end zone.  Awkward or not, he scored.

CState will breakdown the game and look for ways to improve I am sure of that.  A little better each week for a relatively young team is the right way to go and they seem to be on that path.  Still interested to see how the week unfolds with Alex Smith in the mix. I said last week that Hudson Woodward could go into a tail spin or step up and fight for his spot.  While there were some mistakes, he stepped up in my book.  Also very nice to see a RB putting his head down and running north south without trying to dance...this kid Sair deserves more touches...

Absolutely agree on Sair and I like the Freshman Autera.  I also think that the success of these guys on the ground showed us that our young OL is coming along.  I have been questioning whether our ineffective running game is the result of our OL play our RBs just not hitting the holes hard.  I am inclined to think that our starting RB just doesn't hit the hole.  Sair looked great and the OL did a nice job.  The other part of this is that Buff St. was just terrible.  I hope we can see more of Sair vs. Montclair.

On a down note, I understand that Loeb is done for the season.  Another loss for the Dragons.  Pitcher, Crispo, Loeb...done.  We can't keep losing contributors like these guys.

Curious too about Smith.  Not sure what his role will be.  What kind of football shape is he in?  Will he be confident on a twice repaired knee?  I tend to think we will see him as an insurance policy should Woodward struggle.

O line is improving for sure.  Didn't hear about Loeb.  The loses are getting out of control. Guiliano had a nice day Saturday...I like him if nothing but he's always a threat particularly out of the wildcat.  Stats show he averaged 12.5 yds a carry albeit with just 4 carries.  Still, because he is always a threat, I'd like to see him with a few more carries to.  Agree Buffalo was not good which always makes it tough to tell how well or poorly a team plays against them.

From what I hear, Alex Smith is looking sharp in practices.  Confidence in his twice repaired knee is a true concern...so if your coach Mac, what do you do?  Go with Alex Smith and risk deflating Hudson Woodward or go with Hudson knowing you've got Alex Smith ready in the wings?  As the IBM commercials on Monday Night Football used to say, "You Make the Call".

XREDDRAGON77

The injury bug has bitten us Dragons hard.  I hope we can overcome and still have a solid season.  I would love to hit the Montclair game as its an hour or so from my neck of the woods in downstate NY.  Saturday high school games stink.  Eat those chicken hawks!

Hey Rams....you mention the tailgating at Monclair State...what's the situation there in terms of tailgating?  Grilling allowed before and/or at half time?  If so, is there any particular place designated and can the opposition fans get in or do we leave the grill at home?  Thanks in advance....looking forward to a good game and hopefully some good brats too!

All is welcome. Tailgating is at the Train Station. Usually can fit (40) cars or so. Bring your grill. First come first. I will get there about 11:00AM at the latest. Got a Grey Nissan Pathfinder. Come over and say Hi. Cube Steaks, Dogs and Bevreges of your choice. It will be a good game and a tough one for somebody to lose. Both teams have a lot at stake. By the way, when you make the left or right at the light, the Train Station is at the bottom of the hill. Hope to see you there.

couldn't have said it better myself..
As always I am true to myself...Where is the O-line and what are they doing. ?? Now I understand that we lost some excellent blocking upfront with Wambough, Mercer, Goff and a few others as well as a good blocking fullack, Scott. But what the hell is going on with our offense, I am at a loss for words, I Ramscan only pray that we get a win this week and if we do it will be against a banged up cortland squad.
RAMS hopefully I will see you at the train station this weekend.

On paper, CState v MState appears to be a good game with a slight edge (ok maybe) to CState.  Could be offset by homefield advantage and frankly if the whole Alex Smith scenario plays out poorly or better said, not as planned.  I agree that the best use would be to start Woodward and only go to Smith if things get out of hand.  The question is how do you define out of hand?  I think this is a big game season wise, for both squads.  They both need a conf win and it could and almost always will come down to who wants it more.  Should be a good one to watch.

Thanks for the tailgating info...depending on who will be riding with me, plan to be there and if we are, will look for you Rams.  Will be in a silver Honda Pilot and will have plenty of brats/kraut on the grill if you have any interest.

Kean will host Buffalo State College which comes off the homecoming win over West Conn! Buff St. will be amped up for this contest so Kean must protect themselves from becoming complacent & taking this opponent lightly! This is the classic set-up for a trap game so the Cougars have to continue to bring their A game esp. in front of their home fans!

TCNJ's 5,000 seat stadium would have seen a few more fannies if they didn't start out at home with Buffalo, FDU and Morrisville. Toss in a Labor Day weekend game and there's no surprise at the numbers. Unfortunately, with Cortland and Rowan on the road this year, Montclair will provide the only chance for some real numbers in the stands. People just don't come out to see the NY schools play in Jersey – unless perhaps, it's Cortland. I'm sure TCNJ would have also seen more people this week if they had beaten Kean.

Up until the "NEW" NJAC was formed last year, TCNJ would have already played Cortland and Rowan; or Rowan, Ithaca and Union; or Rowan and Montclair by now. In which case, there would be no attendance issues. Especially during the years that TCNJ beat Cortland at the beginning of the season. There's nothing like beating a quality team early in the year...

congratulations to jared chunn for making the d3 football team of the week after his DOMINATING performance vs TCNJ!!!!!!!!!!!!! GO COUGARS!!!!!!!!!
