Players' defend gutsy fourth-down calls in the aftermath of the Lions' 1st loss

NCAA attendance reports suggest Lions' fan base disinterested in TCNJ football

http://tcnjlionsfootball.com/2009/10/06/attendance/

[/b]TCNJ's 5,000 seat stadium would have seen a few more fannies if they didn't start out at home with Buffalo, FDU and Morrisville. Toss in a Labor Day weekend game and there's no surprise at the numbers. Unfortunately, with Cortland and Rowan on the road this year, Montclair will provide the only chance for some real numbers in the stands. People just don't come out to see the NY schools play in Jersey – unless perhaps, it's Cortland. I'm sure TCNJ would have also seen more people this week if they had beaten Kean.

Up until the "NEW" NJAC was formed last year, TCNJ would have already played Cortland and Rowan; or Rowan, Ithaca and Union; or Rowan and Montclair by now. In which case, there would be no attendance issues. Especially during the years that TCNJ beat Cortland at the beginning of the season. There's nothing like beating a quality team early in the year...

Can you believe it, 6300 at Homecoming vs Willy. I thought I was seeing things.  :o

This Sat will be a big one, let's see if we can avoid laying an egg.  ;)

Rams,
After seeing the utter apathy of the Montclair fans – which even extended to the Montclair v. Rowan playoff game I went to several years ago – I'm shocked at the size of the crowd for the MSU/WPU game! Somehow the tide has changed I guess – either that or you're doing some world class barbecue in the train station parking lot!

Kean will host Buffalo State College which comes off the homecoming win over West Conn! Buff St. will be amped up for this contest so Kean must protect themselves from becoming complacent & taking this opponent lightly! This is the classic set-up for a trap game so the Cougars have to continue to bring their A game esp. in front of their home fans!
Cougars 31 - Bengals 17  ;D

There is no trap here.  We have seen both and Kean can play with their helmets on backward and win this one.  Look out for the fumbled snaps on the punt...the Bengals best play!  My apologies to any Bengal fans out there but Buff St. is not a good football team and Kean is.

RedDragonFan

Well it could go either way with Kean playing with helmets on backwards but point well taken.  Buffalo at this point does not have a promising season.  Sitting in the stands behind the home team, it seemed that Buffalo players were not paying attention as often the coaches would be screaming a players name who needed to be on the field...tough to be competitive when your coaches spend more time managing the side lines than managing the players on the field.  There's a team that needs to get the basics down pat before they can expect to be competitive in my humble opinion.

Dave,

Provided I get there in time, I'll look for you during pre-game tailgating.

Saturday is going to be a rough day for me.  After the game I need to leave immediately, drive home, grab some sleep, and work the overnight shift.  Somewhere along the line I'll need to write a game synopsis and go through about 250 game photos.    ;D

I'm told that I-80 and I-84 are under construction in PA.  I already know I-81 is a mess near Scranton.  So I'm probably going to drive a bit out of my way so I can take 17/86, and then shoot down into New Jersey.

I-81 could be messy, but who knows on Sat AM. 17/86 is not really much different time wise. Make sure you then get on 287S to 23S to 46E and get off at Clove Road exit any you'll be there. Hope to see you at the Train Station. If not I will be just below the Press Box at the 50.

Word is that Woodward starts for CState but coaches are ready to put in Smith at the first sign of trouble.  Players say that Smith looked sharp and quick during practices all week and very confident....might explain the path he was on record wise.  He must know the offense inside and out at this point so should be able to step in and get the job done.  Should be a good game with either at QB.  Looking forward to seeing how the CState defense fairs against Monclair State.  Win or lose, it will be a fun game to be at and watch.  Good luck to both teams....ok...just a little more luck to the Red Dragons!

I think it will be a good game. Whoever does not win is in deep you know what. As you said good luck to both teams, stay healthy and a little more luck to Montclair.

As soon as Smith is ready it should be time to live and die with him....he is a far more experienced qb who knows the offense much better.  He has played in and won big games before.  As we know, he lost his Sr. year and he has earned the chance to win the NJAC title and lead his team to the postseason.

I was not at the game but wow!!! Congrats to my MSU Boys, seems like Coach Agresta put together a pretty good defensive game plan...

Montclair "D" + Special Teams - 16     Cortland - 7

The Defense was great, but we have no Offense. Let me re-phrase my statement about the Offense, the coaching is terrible. The offense is too predictable and it's the same stuff week in and week out. The McCoaches came to the game today and I sat with them. I was screaming at O'Conner all game and Mrs. McCoach said "Dave calm down you have been watching this for 8 years". She was right but boy it's really frustrating. Fisher has to stop with the lolly pop passes. And by the way this was not the Cortland team I expected to see. They are really banged up and you could tell.Time for Fisher to step it up, the real tough games are ahead of us and if we want to go dancing, or said another way GET YOUR S@&T TOGETHER !!!  That's enough of my ranting and everyone have a good weekend. Let's Go Yankees !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You are correct. The "D" was awsome. The offense is coached like the sisters of the blind. I wish O'Conner would give the kids a chance and tell Fisher to lay off the lolly pops. They are killing us.

The apathy is back. You have a rilvery game today against Cortland and the total draw is 1,000. 800 MSU and 200 Cortland. >:(
