Ok...what a shock...rumors about CStates QB situation...word is that Hudson Woodward is done and that Alex Smith is not so he will start this week.  Too little too late unless as was stated, something very odd happens.  Still it's something to look forward to if true.  Seems it might be as a friend of mines son is playing for Cortland on the scout team.  They usually play a JV schedule but he said the remaining JV games have been cancelled.  That would make sense as we are down to 2 QB's assuming Smith is good to play.

Even dlip is feeling for the Cortland fans and team right now. How many ****in QB's can a team lose? Poor guys, dlip hopes things turn upward and more positive for the Red Dragons.

dlip...it is a disaster.  I don't think Smith's injury is season ending but would be very surprised to see him start this week.  But...to use an overused expression, "it is what it is" and we somehow need to make the best of a bad situation and help the kids build for better things to come.  The program is strong and will be, I think (hope), for awhile.  But this year has been a snake-bitten disappointment from the moment we lost Pitcher at the end of game two.  I don't think you can point to one single thing; not conditioning or training.  Each injury had its own circumstance and we have to chalk it up to dumb luck.

I remember 2005 when the Cortland DE shattered our QB's wrist on a sack, costing Rowan a legit shot at a National Championship.  Losing QB's is always a bad thing.

What is the Cortland line like this season?  Are your QB's getting hit more than they should?  Is it the scheme or the play calling?  Or just bad luck this season.

My two cents is that while the O line is young, they are holding their own so I would not attribute the injuries to them giving up more hits on the QB than normal...as CL put it, just really bad luck.

Cortland will survive....just that we might have made a run with Pitcher healthy all year, but that's they way things go.  Hopefully builds some character in a pretty young team for the future.  Coaches have to be earning their pay just keeping the team focussed.  Must be a challenge.

Which of the dates remaining on the calendar have the most impact toward the NJAC title race?

Past quarterbacks were hurt when the offensive line wasn't an issue. It may or may not be this year but even then, quarterbacks are tackled and hit in every game and usually get back up. I'd chalk this up to just plain bad luck - just like when Alex Smith went down the first two times. I'd just like to point out that Alex stayed healthy when I did Cortland games :)

I have to agree John...bad luck.

I am hearing now that Smith may actually start this week but that Woodward is likely done for the season.  Also heard that a cstate baseball player, former hs qb has offered his services.  Don't know any details.  What I do know is that we need to find a running game.  When our QB has more rushing yards than anyone else on the team after 5 games and he didn't even play 2 full games...we have a problem.  I hope we see someone other than Russell in the backfield.  good kid but not getting it done.  Not OL because other backs have decent yds. / carry.  Not Russell and he continues to get the bulk of the load.  Time for a change.

Time to implement the single wing or wishbone, just start ramming it down teams throats.   :D
