Ok...time for me to show how dumb I am...I read somewhere that a strong finish of the season by Cortland, might actually help Ithaca to get a playoff spot.  Is that a true statement and if so why?  Isn't Ithaca in the Empire 8 that has it's own paths into the playoffs?  What am I missing as it doesn't seem to make sense to me.

If Cortland finishes strong and Ithaca wins out including the Cortaca game possibly Ithaca could qualify, but I doubt it, unless they win the conf.

Here's a shortcut to the story News10Now out of Syracuse just ran on Alex Smith:

So is Alex on the Russ Alger plan at Cortland? Or was Alger an actual underclassman and not post-grad?

Thanks but still don't see how Cortland finishing strong comes into play....Ithaca runs the table here on including of course Cortaca, isn't that alone what would get them in? Is there a strength of schedule component of some sort vs out of league play?  Still confused....

If Ithaca wins the conf then the playoffs are no problem, if they don't win the conf, Alfred runs the table then Ithaca needs to get a pool C bid.  If cortland finishes strong it would boost ithacas OWP and help Ithaca within the regional rankings.

Hey guys, any word on weather affecting games this week?? I haven't heard anything official and will not be at the game tomrrow, but I here that Montclair State-Buffalo State could be played in snow. Anyone else can elaborate on this game's weather or any other games??

The Kean Cougars travel upstate NY to face The College at Brockport Golden Eagles! The Golden Eagles enter this game with a 2-3 record but have lost their last 3 games! All 3 loses were to opponents in the NJAC! I'm sure the Golden Eagles will be motivated to get their 1st conference win in front of the home crowd! Kean enters the contest looking to improve to 5-1 and remain undefeated in the NJAC! If the Cougars stay on pace, their dreams of an automatic bid to the NCAA playoffs can become a reality! Those dreams are in the hands of Kean's version of the triplets:  D'Ambrisi, Chunn & Cade! Sprinkle in a little Harris & Puorro on offense and a stingy defense led by their stalwart DE & NFL hopeful Darryl Jackson and Brockport will be in for a long Saturday afternoon!  ;D

Nice article on Alex.  Thanks for sharing Fran.

The Russ Alger plan.  That is pretty funny.

Russ Alger was the truth on the field.  He was a full grown man out of the Navy when he showed up on campus in 1997.  I believe he was like 25 or so years old when we entered our freshman year on campus.  A good guy he is!

Your post is total ignorance...Russ Alger served our nations military in the U.S. Navy with a full 5 year commitment then came to Cortland as many of our brave soldiers do...just because you didn't have a prayer of blocking him doesn't mean you should ever slander his name on these boards.   Your post is both stupid and un-patriotic.

It's not funny at all.  Just because he was older than the average D3 player does not mean he didn't have a right to play with full eligibility.
