And as previously posted, Justin Autera going up and over a defender for a TD was just plain fun to watch.

This has been nominated for Play of the Week, by the way.

That's great to hear Pat.  Win or not, I hope everyone can get a chance to see it, it was ridiculous.

The addition of the play of the week to this site is almost as awesome as the addition of the preseason kickoff!

I look forward to it every week!

Congrats to Cortland on cracking the top 25...

I just saw the Autera play.  Wow.

Believe it or not, I think there's another play from Upstate NY that's just as good if not better.  This is a really nice feature.

I haven't seen a video but we have a freshman LBer who did the same thing enroute to a QB sack.

Here's a link to it!

That was sick!

Thanks Upstate....I think it is funny to watch the reaction of the would-be tackler.  He just non-chalantly picks himself up and just walks away from the play never looking back...

On the other hand...Autera is very athletic and tends to try stuff like that.  I think he leaves his feet too much and at some point is going to get helicoptered.  He is exciting to watch though.

Some kid did this in a HS game last week too.... but that play was called back because I think it's technically illegal to hurdle a player that has both feet on the ground. Is the rule different in college?

Here is a link that goes into a little detail about the play maxpower brought up.  Two kids have done it this year, the first play was allowed to stand, the second was flagged.  No idea if it is illegal in college, but I doubt it.  I remember Brian Leonard doing it for Rutgers a few years back as well as plenty of other examples.

This was an impressive hurdle to say the least but it was called back because Ohio High School rules say it is a penalty to hurdle a defender who has one or both feet on the ground.   I have not heard of this at any college level.

Play of the Week:  Justin Autera, Cortland St.

Interestingly enough, it is not the hurdle play that has been posted here but his dive into the endzone after a reception on the next Cortland possession.  Check it out.

Fair enough. They're both good plays -- I guess we looked at the other one more closely because it was to get into the end zone. We did have a similar hurdle in last week's POTW, though.
