Brockport beats Willy P 30-16 according to Brockport's website.  A little surprising considering the two teams performances before this week.

It hurt to watch that game with 9 combined turnovers.  It definately fell apart for Cortland when that screen in the 4th got called back on a hold.  1st and
10 from the 15 became 3 and forever from the 40 something.  Then the eventual foul on hitting the punter stung as it set up the drive for the winning TD.

Congrats to Rowan for hanging in there when it looked like it was gonna get ugly after the 1st quarter.

Just got back.  It looked like Rowan was trying to give it away in the first half, then Cortland in the second half.  Now its up to Cortland and Rowan to run the table.  After seeing both Cortland and MSU this year, MSU is overrated.  Too bad Hagerty wasn't the starter out of camp.

If Cortland can get pressure on the MSU QB, he'll make mistakes.  He's very jumpy in the pocket.

Congrats to Rowan. Cstates offense was terrible today. Would like to say that Pitcher had a tough time with the wind but he was just not good today. The picks were not balls that floated or were short due to wind. They were just not good throws like we've seen from him. Also not sure I agree or understand some coaching decisions. Cstate had the lead and the ball pretty deep into the 4th. Pitcher was not throwing the ball well and insead of running time off the clock a pass play is called and Rowan picks it off. The running game was nothing pretty either but I think I take my chances running the ball and the clock. Then putting the punt team on the field late in the fourth and taking a time out to pit the offense back on the field was just odd. All that said it's much easier to sit here typing this then making the calls during the game.  Let's hope they get back on track next week.

And I'm no longer a jinx.  Due to life, work, a house that needs work, and all that other stuff... I haven't attended the majority of games like I used to.

It used to be a given W when I attended.  Over the last few years... when I show up... L

Huge sigh of relief.

I make deals with myself.  If I hang X amount of drywall, I can go to X big game.  So I listen to not big game or watch the stream on the web.  Then go to big game in which Rowan either can't hang or shoot themselves in the foot.

I was seriously debating not going today.

Not that they've been that good since I left but Brockport has not won since I graduated and have attended a game.

My email box is filling up fast with questions about this, so I figure this forum is probably the best outlet to answer everyone at once as to why.  While I enjoyed supporting the team and bringing the action to everyone through a camera lens, the past few years have been frustrating and I'm not willing to subject myself to it for another season.

The final straw was an incident at West Conn a few weeks ago, where I was harassed by a local photographer who did not agree with the school's decision to allow me on the field.  The same photographer harassed me 2 years ago too.  It turned into an argument which I am not proud of, but certainly do not regret.  Unfortunately a very unstable West Conn photographer was given the benefit of the doubt over someone who has provided a faithful and professional service to our program since 2003.  I left the field early in the 4th quarter and have not returned since.

I decided to take the week off from the TCNJ trip so I could cool down and think things through.  By the following week, I still felt no desire to resume my support for the program, so instead of shooting the Brockport game I spent the weekend with family and friends.  When the Rowan game was days away and I still had no desire to travel to NJ to promote the team, I knew it was time to close shop for good.

There have been plenty of other incidences which soured me to running my website.  I've come close to closing the door on more than one occasion, some of which I blogged about in the past.  I really do believe people involved with the program have lost sight of the fact that it is my site, fueled by my interest, and paid for with money out of my pocket.  I've had my back stabbed more than once, and really I'm tired of it.

The saddest part is I have been a fan of Cortland football since I stepped on to the campus in 1987, and right now I don't even have a desire to watch a game.  I certainly don't envision spending an hour of my time speed dialing on my phone for Cortaca tickets, so I can watch the game with 6499 people who have never seen a snap from center or are too drunk to know what the score is, or both.   ::)  It's too bad.  They've got some talent there this season and could easily win 8 or 9 games.  They'll do it with one less fan this season.

So that's the long and short of it.  Hopefully when things cool down, I'll remember why I was a fan in the first place and you'll see me in the stands in 2011 or 2012.  If you do, please stop by and say hello.  I just hope anyone disappointed by my decision at least understands this was volunteer work on my part, volunteer work which cost me several thousand dollars out of pocket in camera body expenses, pro lenses, and thousands of miles in the car.  And who knows how many man hours spent constructing the site and editing photos.  It's not as easy or as fun as it looks, and if you knew half of what has gone on over the last few years you would have told me to quit long ago.

That's to bad DP, your site was awesome!

I'm afraid it's not rocket science...contain Giuliano and Autera and Cortland will struggle.  Rowan did and we did.  Throw in an uncharacteristic game by QB Pitcher and a loss of his younger brother on the OL and it was just a rotten day.  We will get a test of character now as we will see how they respond.   I'm pretty concerned now with a makeshift OL that doesn't have a lot of experience.

Congrats to Rowan.

Hey, Dan, that sucks. It's been a pleasure working with you and I appreciate you allowing us to use a file photo this week. Indeed, I hope you can recapture that love of the game after some time off.

Hang in there, sir.

Dan...sorry to hear that.  I am sure there must be much more to the story.  I hope you are saying that there will be one less fan at the game...not one less cortland fan all together.  I can't imagine not having you in our corner.

Sorry for your troubles...I know that it has been a rough year.

Dan,
It's a fine job you've done over the years. A labor of love no less. When the schmuck of a two-bit photographer wakes up in Connecticut tomorrow morning, he'll still be spending his joyless Saturdays covering West-Conn football and hating every second of it. The rest of the time he's probably chasing ambulances for front page photos for his local newspaper.

You and JT have done a great service for your respective schools. Hats off to you.

I can add an Amen to this.  Hopefully you'll find your way back to your site.  You are a better man than me, I would have told that West Conn photog to shove his camera up his azz.

There's a beat writer that really dislikes me.  I seek him out and stand right next to him.  The more I pretend we are friends and I don't know he hates me, the more it drives him nuts.

Sometimes ya gotta flip the switch. I could add more, but I'd be tipping my hand.  I ain't going away. I was thinking about going away, but something happened today that stiffened my resolve.
