"Pleased" to see that the Cortaca Jug sold out before I could get a ticket.  Also "elated" to know that a bunch of drunk kids who haven't been to a game all year will be there to throw derogatory chants at a school they couldn't find without a GPS.  Cortland really needs to do something for alumni who want to see the game and stop handing out tickets to students who haven't followed the team at all.

I feel like this has been brought up before...I know I have. I wish they would give each IC/Cortland student a card to get stamped before going into any home game, and in order to buy a Cortaca ticket, you need to have at least 50% of the previous games stamped. Alumni tickets should be a separate batch, and they should get any student leftover

Great idea Bombers.  Don't worry though.  If we make the playoffs we'll have the stadiums to ourselves.  The students do a disappearing act after the second weekend in November.

I gotta go to this game at least once.

DanPadavona

It's really something JT.  The only problem is that "Cortaca" has taken on a life of its own.  It's almost become like the Rocky Horror Picture Show.  People go because it's the thing to do, but nobody remembers what happened in the movie.

One of these days I'd like to see RPI-Union too, and travel to Salem for the national championship.

Last Saturday I went to the Umass/New Hampshire football game which was held at the Patriots Stadium.  I actually thought there was going to be a decent crowd (I guessed 12-15K) and I got good seats.  To my suprise there were about 35 thousand drunk Umass students and alumni that couldn't have cared less about the football game.  I was at about the 40 yard line, 20 rows from the field.  Umass was down by 8, driving and inside the 20 early in the game.  It was 4th and 2 and Umass was going for it and was about to snap the ball when the drunk Umass a-hole in front of me stood right up and asked his drunk buddy next to him if he wanted a beer.  Needless to say I missed the whole play but I was pissed.  I don't care that much about UNH or Umass but it was the same type of thing you would see at a Cortaca game.

The alcohol is the biggest problem at those games.

That's true...remind me of that when we host an NCAA playoff game again in 14 years (12 now)

I've just looked at the Week #9 D-3 Football Poll. I'm totaly confused :

As of last week I had Alfred and Ursinus out and Cortland in. I can't believe that Montclair went from #14 to #27 after a game we lost by 1 point, and Fisher wins and is out of the top 25. IMHO Montclair and Fisher get screwed as a pool "C". I have no love for Rowan, but #23 ahead of Montclair & Fisher. The rankings really mean whatever they are, but this sends a sign of the Pool "C" picks. I think Montclair will be a candicate for an ECAC no matter how everything plays out. ::)
It ain't over till it's over, and when you get to the fork in the road, take it.

rams, keep reminding yourself - "the d3football.com poll has NOTHING to do with tourney selection".  You'll feel less stressed. ;D

You're right, but there is no logic to the Poll and who knows what the NCAA is up-to. ???

'No logic' to the poll is a bit harsh wouldn't you say?  If there was NO logic, UWW and (pick your favorite 0-8 team) would have an equal chance at #1! ;D

Rightly or wrongly, I believe SJF fell out because the team they lost to the previous week proceeded to lose to a previously 1-win team.

I WAS surprised that Montclair fell so drastically.  I commented on the Top 25 thread that it seemed unprecedented for a #14 to lose by 1 point to a good team and fall so far this late in the season.  My speculation was that a lot of voters must have already been nervous that they had Montclair over-ranked.

No poll is perfectly logical, but the d3football.com poll is still the 'gold standard' for d3 information.

Rams...Pay no attention to the pollsters behind the curtain.

I agree that this is hogwash.  You should not drop 13 spots because of a missed FG.  It's just stupid bad luck.  One moment you are the East's only hope and next, you drop out of the Poll all together.  These can not be unbiased voters.  They figure a Montclair loss brings MUC east again and so they so I'm not gonna vote for Montclair.  All I can say is that I saw two tremendous defensive efforts yesterday and the offensive woes were reflective of that.  The defenses can play with anyone in the country.  Sorry D3...this is BS.

Uhmm, the D3football.com Top 25 has no bearing on what the NCAA does in terms of playoff positioning.

DanPadavona

In fairness, I can't find much difference between any of the teams from #15 to #25.  It's understandable how 1 win or loss can catapult a team 10+ spots.

I read your post...I didn't say that it did.  The poll may be irrelevent but it is still BS.  The 14th ranked team in the country doesn't drop out of the top 25 because they missed a FG and lost to the top rated defense in the country.  It is unprecedented and smacks of bias.  The NJAC may have a weak bottom but Rowan, Montclair, and Cortland will compete anywhere.  Pollsters who dropped Montclair out of the poll have some bug up their a$$ about East football.  There is no excuse.  I guess I have been naive all this time about the poll.  For all D3football.com has to offer, this is pi$$ poor.

C'mon Dan...this late in the season?  Why bother with a poll at all if it is that tenuous in week 9.  They dropped 13 spots?  It is a slap in the face to NJAC and Cortland in particular...Cortland beat them....they must really suck.  The poll is what sucks.
