Actually I think when I was a frosh we put it on Kean pretty bad, that would be the exception and only because the third strings were in still scoring at will...that was 2001...

I look at this completely different though; the fact that there are really no more blowouts in the NJAC anymore, as far as I am concerned is a testament to the elevated level of competition and the quality athletes being dispersed amongst the entire league, not just Rowan and or MSU. TCNJ, Cortland, MSU, Rowan and Kean have all played for a conference championship within the last few years. What other conference had that many different teams play for a Automatic bid to the playoffs, instead of one dominate team and a black horse ...

I think the main point you guys are missing is that there are so many teams with 1 or 2 losses, a 13 spot drop in the rankings isn't that unusual, especially when you were raked at the bottom of the undefeated teams in the first place.

Oklahoma was #1 in the country in week 8.  They lose and drop 8 spots to #9 in week 9.  Where do you think TCU would be ranked if they lost?

Missouri loses and drops 7 spots.

Michigan State drops 9 spots (11 spots in the coaches poll)

If TCU loses to Utah 10-9, they drop to 15 or 16.  If they lose to San Diego St. 10-9, they drop out of the poll.

If Montclair lost to Western CT 10-9, it makes more sense to drop out of the poll.  But to Cortland....I think 22-23 would have been a little more realistic.

True, but TCU is ranked #5 while Montclair was ranked #14.  That tells me pollsters were not that high on Montclair in the first place.  I also think if SJF played Montclair, SJF would win.  There were simply too many teams that had to move up from #20-#30 last week that Montclair kind of got the shaft.

Montclair has not been impressive with their wins this year.  If you want to be ranked in the top 20, you should be able to blow out some teams, especially in the bottom of the NJAC.  Montclair has not done that.
I have not caught up on the entire thread so forgive me Johnny and others if the point has been made.  Montclair, prior to the Cortland game had scored 219 pts to opponents 57.  They beat Morrisville 42-6 and WConn 31-3.  Me thinks Johnny should do his homework before making such statements.

No, I'm still not impressed with Montclairs season.  A top 10 team would beat the bottom four of the NJAC by a combined score of 200-14.

They can prove me wrong by not losing by 42 points to MUC which I think they would.  Then I will buy everyone here a beer.

You better start saving.  Mount only beat Marietta by 14 points and Otterbein by 18 points this season.  If Mount beats any of the NJAC playoff teams by 42 points the beers are on me.
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Statistics are like bikinis; what they reveal is interesting, what they hide is essential.

Montclair has a horrible offense, I don't see an issue with MUC beating them by 42...

At what point in time did the entire NJAC conference begin to be characterized as "crap"? Missed the memo.
This is what the expansion has done for the NJAC. Before the expansion TCNJ, Rowan and Montclair couldn't buy a non-conference game. The NJAC goes out and takes care of that situation and Buffalo St., Morrisville, WestConn and Brockport haven't been able to be very competitive. But now, according to our "posting elite" the NJAC's best teams can't hope to win against a top ten team? There needs to be some 40 point blowouts on the schedule? C'mon.

Good lord, the year Rowan beat MUC they lost the game and the NJAC championship to TCNJ. Thank goodness they weren't kicked out of the top 100, forced to turn in their uni's and banned from the NCAA playoffs.

Phil what has the NJAC done nationally since 2001?  You can add whomever you want, that doesn't make your teams better.

2005, 19-7 loss to Mount Union in the semis without a QB who went down with a season ending injury at Cortland.

Didn't Rowan end up playing with a RB or WR at QB that season?

The backup was Rankin (first name escapes me).  The kid had heart, but not a strong enough arm, even for D3.  By the time we got to Alliance, Mount had the CB's that could man our two best WR's (both WR's had NFL sniffs, one went to an NFL (Jets) camp) with two safeties over the top.  They sat on the short routes very well and only let one deep pass go for a TD.

Orihel was suffering on the sidelines.  He saw all the plays he could make that Rankin couldn't.

Johnny what team did you play for??

Ithaca 1993-1997 (didn't play as a freshman and I redshirted)

How does MSU have a "horrible" offense... details please... bc I was at the game and I would say Cortland has one hell of a defense. It was obvious what MSU was doing (which is what they always do) trying to control the line of scrimmage... they were sitting in a Mustang formation and motioning one of their tight ends to boundary running a zone/stretch...Looking for a miss match, Cortland's front was solid with their fits and # 3 on Cortland did a very good job of rolling down and playing in the box. I think the game plan was perfect for the type of game it was turning out to be which was a battle of field position. If MSU's punter did what he did all year as well as kicker, you could say at the very least MSU played a very conservative game and would have gotten out of dodge with a 12-10 Victory over a very well coached and athletic Cortland team. Which is fine by me and oh btw we drove down the field in less then a min and missed a chip shot and droped a touchdown pass earlier in the game...

did you play with ( I am going to spell his name wrong) Rouchenburger??

I'm with you.  A win is a win the NJAC nowadays.  Unfortunately, we need to consistently do well in the semis or Stagg for the national voters or pundits take notice.  Rowan does not roll in a ton of transfers every year by choice.  They want to build a four year program.  Since Rowan doesn't roll out a bunch of 25 year old Juniors anymore, I guess it has dragged down the NJAC.

And the talent is clearly better across the board in the NJAC.  Even the good teams have down years now.

If this keeps up, I think the NJAC should disband and go Indy.

There's also too many Pool A's which is big problem.

How does MSU have a "horrible" offense... details please...

You average 28 points and 350 yards a game...

With games already played vs Buff State, Morrisville, West Conn and a crap NEFC team those numbers should at least be in the 40's and 400's (respectively)...

I've seen their offense vs an unimpressive 5-3 Kean team and in my opinion they're horrible...

Yes their defense is sick but w/o an offense they weren't going to go far in the NCAAs (if they get there)...

I think Kean is pretty good. Shot themselves in the foot, but a good club.  MSU's major problem offensively is the QB... happy feet and a so-so arm.

Cool, I am good friends with his brother Tim...Good family, yeah Ithaca and MSU will always be a war and sometimes emotions get the better of everyone, one hell of of team though, I played them in 01 and 03. I playe in a co-ed kickball league in Hoboken (don't laugh, tons of girls) one of the kids on my team played WR at Ithaca and we often joke around and say if our coaches could only see us now MSU and Ithaca together hahah...

Didn't Kean come very very close to beating Cortland?

Yea there are 11 NJ kids on the Ithaca roster which is decent I guess (probably better to have 15 at least).  I noticed there is a kid from Verona which is where Roach was from but I could be wrong.

They also beat Buff St by a whopping 4 points thanks to a kick return with 5 minutes left after blowing a 19 point lead...

Stats on the Kean/Cstate game were actually very even except for 3 or 4 picks by Cstate which made the difference. Final score was 24-12
