With SJF ****ting the bed today, the NJAC could get two pool C's if everyone ends up 9-1...

It helps put the NJAC in line for that but it also matters what happens elsewhere. Wheaton, for example, lost its QB to a broken hand and if they lose the last two now that helps everyone else.

Brockport has come back to make it 27-22 MSU with about 3 minutes left.  Onside kick fails.  Brockport was down 27-6 at halftime.

pg04

Brockport has the ball on their own 20 with 1:09 left.

pg04

And Interception.  Game over.  Montclair wins 27-22.

Bport's a very game team.  Was hoping they'd pull it out.

pg04

MSU letting them back in the game surprised me a little...  It's still really difficult to rate where MSU is.

However, Congrats to MSU... Nice win, just one more and you may be on your way to Pool C confusion!

cortland wins today on strength of their defense once again.  Willy P poised to kick FG and go into halftime 10-10.  Cortland blocks FG....pops up in air and cortland returns it for 80 yds and goes into halftime up 17-7.  Big swing.  Cortland first TD on a pick 6.  Offense simply has to play better.  Congrats Cortland on securing a tie for the NJAC Championship.

Wheaton might not have been the best example, since they will be playing Millikin (only a fairly narrow win over hapless NPU kept Millikin from going winless in conference for the season).  I dare say they could play their 5th string QB and beat the Big Blue. :P

But, yeah, it never hurts to remind people that pool C competition is national, not regional.

Saturday Observations :

1. Montclair wins 27-22 against a tough and never giving up B-Port Team. 27-6 at the end of the 1st half and we lay an egg in the 2nd half and don't score. This is the second week in a row we do this. To me this is all about coaching adjustments.
The B-Port kids were psyched in the 2nd half and really into the game. Montclair appeared to be ho hum. I'm one of the biggest Montclair homers, but I am really confused. When will we play 110-60 and "Keep Pounding". I think the kids are trying, but something appears to be missing. After all of this I think we will crack the Top 25, but I'm really not sure we will go to the dance. Comments please.

2. Cortland and Rowan did what they had to do and congrat's.

3. Montclair definitely does not have a walk in the park with Willy P. and Rowan has a big rilvery game with a TCNJ team that beat Kean 7-0 this week. ::)

4. I looked at the stregnth of schedule a few minutes ago and in the case of a (3) wat tie, Montclair appears to have the edge, but trying to figure this out is like taking a Business Stats Final. Can anyone help explain like "Cliff Notes"  :)
It ain't over till it's over, and when you get to the fork in the road, take it.

I don't. Football is funny that way.

MSU Pride

I'll tell ya what, Brockport is really good, I know their record doesn't show it but they have some talent....

They may have played well but they're not a good team...

Here are the differing OOWP variables, assuming Cortland, Montclair and Rowan all finish at 9-1.  Note that the .5's in the computations rely on the fact that teams inside the OOWP calculations will still play each other next weekend, and *'s in the computation represent games that could add a win or a loss next week for the team's totals:

Lycoming (Rowan) - 5-4

Rowan 9-1
Westminster (Pa.) 2-7
Ithaca 6-3 (6-4)
King's 1-8
Albright 5-4
Widener 4-5
Delaware Valley 8-1
Wilkes 5-4
Lebanon Valley 5-4
FDU-Florham 3-6
** - All MAC teams play conference games next week (But Lyco plays FDU still), Westminster plays Geneva

Westfield St. (Montclair) - 5-5

Nichols 1-9
Montclair St. 9-1
Western New England 8-2
Worcester St. 5-5
Bridgewater St. 5-5
Maine Maritime 8-1 ***
Coast Guard 2-7
Framingham St. 8-2
Mass. Maritime 5-5
Fitchburg St. 1-9
*** - Only team remaining with a game left

Ithaca (Cortland) - 6-3 (6-4)

St. Lawrence 4-5
Union 2-6
Widener 4-5
Lycoming 5-4
Hartwick 3-5
St. John Fisher 8-2
Springfield 7-2
Utica 5-4
Alfred 7-2
Cortland St. 9-1
**** - UNI/SPR+, ALF/UTI+, WID/DVC, LYC/FDU, SLU/WPI, HAR/IDA (SJF Idle)

Cortland: Westfield St. + Lycoming + Ithaca's Opponents, not including Cortland:

5-5 + 5-4* + 4-5* + 2.5-6.5 + 4-5* + 5-4* + 3-5* + 8-2 + 7.5-2.5 + 5.5-4.5 + 7.5-2.5 = 57-46

Rowan: Westfield St. + Ithaca + Lycoming's Opponents, not including Rowan:

5-5 + 6-4 + 2-7* + 6-4 + 1.5-8.5 + 5.5-4.5 + 4.5-5.5 + 8.5-1.5 + 5.5-4.5 + 5.5-4.5 + 3-6* = 53-55

Montclair: Lycoming + Ithaca + Westfield St.'s Opponents, not including Montclair:

5-4* + 6-4 + 1-9 + 8-2 + 5-5 + 5-5 + 8-1* + 2-7 + 8-2 + 5-5 + 1-9 = 54-53

------------

Here's what it all means:  Cortland's worst possible OOWP would be 57-51.  Montclair's BEST OOWP would be 56-53.  Rowan's BEST OOWP would be 55-55.  Therefore, since Cortland's OOWP is better WITH A LOSS TO ITHACA (trust me in this statistic), Cortland cannot lose the OOWP tiebreaker.  Thus, if Montclair wins or if both Rowan and Montclair lose, Cortland clinches the NJAC regardless of result in the Cortaca Jug game.
