Yes, congratulations to Coach Giancola for all 200 of his victories.  Outstanding accomplishment!  And good luck to the 2 teams from the NJAC projected to be in the playoffs.  Represent.
There could be (3). ???

Hardin-Simmons losing today certainly helps.

For the second year in a row, we'll have Dr. Joy Solomen, Rowan's AD and Chair of the tournament selection committee on ITH tomorrow night - shows starts at 7:30 PM ET.

Please post your questions on the East Region Playoff board once the selections have been made so we can work them into our interview accordingly (we'll have plenty of our own, but always open to input).

You can tune into ITH - www.inthehuddLLe.com - to hear the interview with Dr. Solomen as well as catch a live reading of the ECAC match ups as we expect to get those around 8:00-30 PM ET and plan to announce them live on the show.

Thx and good luck to the NJAC triumverant (sp?)

One of the things I noticed in doing our projection (which will be up in a bit) is that Rowan fares better in Pool C than Montclair does.

If Montclair is ranked ahead of Rowan, neither team might go. Montclair being under .500 in SOS hurts them against the other teams on the board most of the night.

rams1102, would seem to me that with the same sos, that h2h should be the next criteria.  i guess if the only 2 teams being considered where montclaire and rowan then montclaire should go.  if what pat says is true based on their projections then maybe not so.  pool c is tough being a national thing, if it was just filling out the east bracket then both would be in.  good luck today.

I got up around 2:30AM and before roplling back over, I went down stairs checked D3 and read the 2nd projections. Decided not to post, slept on it, still kept thinking and now I'm back on the computer. Here we go :

Congrats to Cortland as NJAC Champs. The double monkey stomping of De Pauw by Wabash to me would justify them a Pool C even they are 8-2.  Now down to the so called proposed Rowan pick as a Pool C.  The stregnth of Schedule as determined by the NCAA,  Montclair .493, Rowan .500, Westfield .518, and Lycoming .523. Not much of a difference. Montclair beats Rowan 26-7. The NCAA can pipe as much smoke up my arse as they want but if they pick Rowan as a Pool C instead of Montclair it is nothink but politics and they can spin it any way they want. Oh, by the way is not the AD of Rowan the head of the NCAA Selection Committee. ::) Again if Rowan is in and Montclair is out, this will be a big black for the NCAA, but I guess they probably don't care anyway. >:(

Stop your whining.  All Montclair had to do was beat Rowan and then they wou......oh wait, never mind.

I have a feeling that the NCAA will take Montclair over Rowan.  Just a gut feeling.

I think Pat did a good job of describing how Rowan would be chosen over MSU.  I must say the numbers are dramatically in favor of Rowan over MSU.  Even then, it doesn't come down to MSU and ROwan as the last team.  It comes down to MSU and Wabash.  Wabash beats out MSU for that last spot due to the dramatic difference in SOS numbers.  It isn't even a matter of Rowan vs. MSU.

How do you figure the numbers are dramatically in favor of Rowan over MSU?  Just curious.

This is a tough call.  My personal feelings are that Rowan is the best team in the NJAC right now, followed by Cortland and then Montclair.  So on that account, Rowan would have the better chance of winning in the playoffs.

On the other hand, Montclair did what they needed to do to go 9-1 and beat Rowan.  Who knows if they can do the same thing against playoff teams?

Either way, this is going to suck for one of those teams.

Montclair deserves a Pool C ahead of Rowan, H2H. I have no problem with Wabash getting in. That's what I ment.

I don't think Rowan is the best team in the NJAC but your post is right on. +K

I'm just kind of summarizing what the projections stated... Rowan is kind of a shoe-in because they beat Cortland, who would be ranked #1 in the regional rankings, thus making their "SOS" higher.

Rams,  It doesn't come down to Rowan.  This is a national discussion.  ROwan is like the 3rd Pool C team in.  The committee will have to discuss MSU vs. Wabash as the 7th team in, but they might not necessarily have to discuss MSU vs. Rowan.

It's a stacking question, though.  Who is the #1 Pool C in the East?  That determines what comparisons are made in the first place.  You can't deny that Montclair and Rowan both have QWs against some of the top teams in their Region.  The Committee seems to try to compare these levels of wins across the regions (it's apples and oranges trying to do that, but that's how W&J got in last year).  That bodes well for both Rowan and Montclair.
