A pair of mediocre football teams playing at a 2-year old stadium is classic?  OK then.   :P

Apparently Yankee Stadium is no longer Yankee Stadium once it moves across the street, and the revision of a storied rivalry in that building isn't exciting for some people.

A 6-5 Army team is not mediocre... should be 7-4.  They'll be in a bowl.  Two turnovers and a shanked punt took Army out of the game last night.

hey rams, sounds like a nice win for montclaire.  i figured you would shut them down, recall i said they might get 14.  seems like the concern would be the 3 ints.  sets up a nice game on saturday.  2 of the top d's likely to keep the score low.  will be interesting to see if montclaire can score more than 10, which i think they will at least need in order to win.  talk to you during the week with some fun banter.

More than half of D-FBS will be in a bowl.  They are mediocre at best, and they showed that last night.
Anyone outside of NY and fans of Notre Dame could have cared less about the game last night. And the way NBC went on and on about it.  I'm not sure NBC realizes that college football exists outside of Notre Dame.

The INT"s Fischer threw weren't all that bad, one of them was a batted ball and the other was in the endzone, actually kind of similar to the one Eli Manning threw last week, WR prob could have done a better job of coming back to the ball...MSU/Wesley game, going to be a war of two very hard hitting teams!!

Rams I hope you can make this week!!! I have put the word out to all of my alum on our Facebook page, hoping to get a nice turnout for the game just like we did for the HSC game.

As an independent, Notre Dame makes its own deals.  As a consequence, they have their own network.  And like it or not, they draw.  Holtz did a lot to tarnish the program.  The coaches that followed, couldn't hang. Somebody will turn it around.

And now that Army has a coach that coaches to the talent and the smarts of the athletes, they'll have a winning record most years and sometimes they'll even knock out a 10-2 like in 1996 on occasion.  People all over the world follow Army football.  They'll average 6 to 7 wins a year.  Good for a DI program where the men have to go off and fight.

If you are interested in football history, read about the old Army vs. Notre Dame... Army vs. Navy games.  Army has won national championships.  There was a time when the were the tops of college football.  The best athletes often went to the service academies because there was no money in the pros and great honor going to military school.

Besides, how often do you get the game ball delivered by paratrooper gliding down on to the 50 yard line.

If they do it again... I'll be in Yankee Stadium watching.  Wish I was going to Army vs. Navy next week, but I'll be cruising the Panama Canal.

Has the landscape changed?  Last time I was there... you drive through this residential neighborhood and all of a sudden the field appears.  Little to no tailgating spaces.  Has that changed?

Of course, same goes for SUNY-Maritime where, as most have already heard, Coach Clayton Kendrick-Holmes (Navy), a member of the Navy Reserves, is being deployed to Afghanistan. Pep has the utmost of respect and admiration for the coach and wished him godspeed (with a sign) at yesterday's game. While I wish the Privateers had given Alfred a better game, their 10-0 regular season is a real credit to their coach.

As for Army football, Pep would love to see a game sometime in Michie Stadium. Given the Saxons' bye week and an Army home game coincide, Pep will likely get Kaz00 to introduce him to Army football.
On Saxon Warriors! On to Victory!

...my parents took me to see Notre Dame's national championship team beat Army at Michie stadium in '73. Walked around the campus prior to the game – an amazing place. I'll always root for both programs.

I've given Rutgers season tickets a shot.  Then they escalated the ticket prices and parking fees like they are a successful SEC team.  Plus, the Wednesday, Thursday night games for exposure are hard to do from the 9-5 in NYC.  I wanted mostly the Saturday 12 or 1pm starts where we could relax and tailgate while mixing in the Rowan games.  Driving to Piscataway on a Wednesday night just felt like a longer work day.

West Point home games are usually a 12pm Saturday start, so tailgate or bunch at the Thayer hotel is about 75-90 minutes away.

I might drop 4 season tickets on Dad as one of his Xmas presents.  The old Airborne Ranger might dig it.

phil

...what I'd do to see Rutgers or TCNJ.
My season ticket choices consist of U of Houston, Rice – or if I want a 90+ minute road trip, Texas A&M.
One positive is a 35 minute trip from house to stadium seat for Astros games. Now if only they could play the Yankees 82 times a year at home...

Pep...what are the odds of you all mustering enough bodies for the trip to Cortland?  Been reading your posts and comments about the band for sometime now and thrilled we might have a shot at hearing them!  I for one, appreciate the sound of live music at games...just adds a wonderful feeling to the game.  Happen to love music in general with a daughter who just graduated as a Music Education major.  Nothing thrilled me more than going to my son's High School football games and having her playing in the pep band.  As close to nirvana as you can get in my book! Hoping you can make it happen!

Pep knows for sure that Pep and Kaz00 will be there so that gives "the band" a kazoo, a drum and a couple of loud mouths. With the Thanksgiving break, the "regulars" who comprise the band will be in Pennsylvania (eating homemade pumpkin pie), in Massachusetts (near where the Pilgrims got it started), and various other parts unknown embarking on the season's traditions.

Last year, the pep band traveled to all the games but this year after making the long trips to St. Lawrence and Springfield, missed the Hartwick, RPI and Utica games. Pep and 'z00 may have coaxed a trumpet player alum to drive up for the game Saturday from Long Island, picking up a tuba player en route. Meanwhile, Pep is hoping to pick up a few "ringers" to fill in.

While Pep has always emphasized that the band is there to support our Saxons and not for our own "performance," it has developed a decent repertoire including Blitzkrieg Bop, Bang the Drum All Day, Crunch Time, Cleveland Rocks, Gonna Fly Now (Rocky theme), Land of 1000 Dances, 25 or 6 to 4, Smoke on the Water, Evil Ways (Santana), plus cheers such as "Go A-U!" "Eat 'em up!" "St. Thomas," and "Back in Black" but the mainstay is "On Saxon Warriors," the AU fight song, which the band plays, sings then plays again each time AU scores.

And while on that note, Pep heard from a Saxon fan who told of a young SUNY-Maritime fan complaining Saturday that "that band isn't very good. They keep playing that same song over and over and I've never heard it before."

On Saxon Warriors!

Just to make it clear.  I know all about the history of Army Football and Notre Dame Football.  I just really don't care.

I guess we can end the conversation there.

I'll be there. Going down on Friday. Cashed in some points for a hotel stay. Looking forward to a great game. I'm feeling something special about Montclair this year. We need to find the killer instinct. If we get Wesley on the ropes and don't put it away, they will burry us. Again need to find the killer instinct. Make it happen.
It ain't over till it's over, and when you get to the fork in the road, take it.
