dlip has always respected Lycoming but has Rowan even shown up yet or have the been highly overrated by dlip? Interesting score thus far.

8-0 Lycoming over Rowan.  Half.  Lycoming dominating the line of scrimmage.  2 fg's and a punt snap out of the endzone for a safety.  Rowan passing attack is non-existent.

Rowan 25 plays - 12 net yards.

Lycoming 33 plays - 103 net yards.

Lycoming was a tough opponent for the bombers.  It doesn't matter what their record is, it seems like they are tough every year.

10 of 11 back on D, and a veteran o-line are making a big difference thus far for the Warriors.  No play makers at Wr for the Profs have emerged yet.  Lycoming is stopping the Rowan running game while pressuring and sacking the QB.

JT

4th qtr still 8-0 Lycoming.  Best thing that can be said so far is that Lycoming has generally had awesome field position all day, and the young Profs D has only given up two fg's.

JT

Rowan drives to Lyco 12, pass broken up on 4th and 10.  3:56 Lyco has the ball.

1st down Lyco.  Its ovah.  Wait Lyco fumbles and Rowan has it. 2 minutes left inside 20. Pass complete Wr spins out of tackles... TD Rowan !!!.

JT

Sh*t.... wide open Wr drops two point conversion. Here comes the onsides kick.

Cortland - Not bad getting the rust off.
Rowan - A quote from dlip - what the f--k !!!
Ithaca - Shows you what I know, they just get past B-Port.
Del Val - A quote from dlip - what the f--k !!!
dlip - Whats the read on Salve. What can we expect next week?
It ain't over till it's over, and when you get to the fork in the road, take it.

For those that didn't see in the E8 board, Ithaca defeats Brockport 19-14.  Brockport got to the 31 or so but overthrew a receiver to end the game.  Close one!

Unfortunate for Rowan, and good win for Cortland to start the season.  This may look better down the line if Buffalo State shows some improvement overall on the season.

I am sure it's a matter of time before Buff State returns to the top level program it once was. Jerry Boyes did it once, I'll bet he can do it again.

No question about it.  They are much better now.  Yes, we had a slow start but give Buff St a lot of the credit for that.  Good second half for both offense and defense.  Good first game.

rams I would look this week from some analysis from Frank since he was there and called the game but dlip listened to it and came away with a few thoughts on Salve.

They are a good football team, not a very good football team, not a bad football team, not an upstart football team but a good football team (at least from the game today and their six previous wins). This team's core comes from it's defense. It has multiple looks/sets/formations (dlip thinks he heard Frank say something like 12 or 13 different formations) and can confuse QB's with these formations. Union (who dlip still is assessing in his head from today's game) can bring it on O in the air. They did so today, at times, breaking down the Salve D with some pinpoint passing and excellent catching. On the flip side they will force picks, how many? It is hard to tell because Drew does throw picks against most teams. Today he threw 2. Their D held Union to 33% on third down conversions (4 of 12) and 0% (0 of 3) on fourth down tries. They held Union to 121 yards on the ground as well (Union is very young in the backfield though). They had only one sack but Union's line is pretty decent. The only time the defense seemed out of sync today was when they went to a prevent at the end of the game and Union tore right through them. As far as offensively Salve did not seem all that great to dlip, this is their weakness. They are strong on the ground with Richie Edwards rushing for ****ing 230 yards today. QB Jimmy Connelly was 15-25 throwing for 209 yards. Yet they seem somewhat one dimensional with a focus on the run. To dlip their offensive numbers weren't all that bad but one must consider Union's weakness this year (at least as of right now to dlip) is their D. dlip has no idea what has happened to this Union defense recently :'(. Overall Salve won the time of possession and really scored points in a hurry in the fourth quarter. dlip will say it again, he thinks they are a good team and deserving of a lot of credit for their W today. Good luck rams.

dlip - Whats the read on Salve. What can we expect next week?

1. Cortland -- Seems like a lot of teams today had trouble getting the rust off, so I'm not too concerned about this one (yet).

2. Rowan -- To me, Rowan was the bottom of the three-headed NJAC monster, but I didn't expect THIS.  However, Rowan now has more incentive (OK, NEED) to win the conference outright and unless the NJAC has changed its tiebreaker, the loss may be meaningless if Rowan, Cortland and Montclair end up in a one-loss merry-go-round tie again.

3. Ithaca -- I honestly think this is the Ithaca most people expected this season.  Listen, Brockport has been underperforming since it made the odd ACFC choice earlier in the decade.  Eventually, the history of that team says they'd rebound somewhat.  So, I believe the truth in this game lays somewhere in the middle (meaning Brockport is better and Ithaca isn't as bad as a 5-point win against Brockport would mean in the past few seasons).

4. DelVal -- They returned very few starters, and that's why they went from the middle of the Top 25 to "Others Receiving Votes."  Don't expect too much from them this year, although, let's face it, they ARE 1-0 now.

5. Salve -- I'll go into specifics during "In the HuddLLe" tomorrow night, although dlip obviously was listening carefully to Tom Santa Barbara and me today (thanks dlip!).  One thing he left out is the HUGE offensive line of Salve (three 310-pound players, with an average of about 295 pounds on that line).  We knew Union's defensive line was outmatched, especially as the game wore on (even if that size mismatch doesn't play a role early, those smaller players get more and more fatigued).  Salve took advantage of that in the second half, especially as they mixed the passing game much better in the fourth quarter.  More tomorrow night at 7:30pm at http://inthehuddlle.com -- yes, I know, I'm shameless.  :-)

Xreddragon.....truer words have never been spoken. With 7:57 left in the 3rd quarter and the Bengals going up 12 to 7 ...... visions of Boyes championship teams of yesteryear danced in our heads, back at 1300 Elmwood ave.

The Bengal faithful are encouraged to say the least! Outgaining the Red Dragons by 46 ( 296-250) adds more encouragement to the Bengal faithful. To hold CSU to 81 yards on the ground (100 less than their 181 per game in 2010) gives me reason to check the mileage from Buffalo to St. Johns Fisher for next weeks out of conference battle in Rochester.

Congrats to Cortland!
