Really tough loss.  Congrats to MSU on the win.  Cortland stayed in it as usual and had every chance to take the game.  Thought the safety in the 4th by I think Gruber putting CState up by 2 was going to do it but MSU didn't let up and drove down for the winning field goal.  Again, congrats to MSU.  Both teams played hard and it was a great game to watch.

First look at Rowan today, up 20-0 mid way through 3rd against Willy P.  Mental mistakes, blown coverage, and stupid penalties  by Rowan get WPU back in it as they go on top 21-20 by mid 4th qtr.  That seemed to wake the Profs up, because it looked like they were content to play down to the level of competition, they drove down the field and scored a TD and 2 pt conv to go up 28-21.  They hold Willy P after this and tack on a safety at the end to win 30-21.

Rowan is good, but not good enough to take the dumb penalties and personal fouls.  Undisciplined play has been a trademark of Rowan football for over 20 years, but they were usually so dominant that it didn't matter until late in the playoffs where they would self destruct.  Now they do it during the regular season.  If they don't win out, it is the undisciplined play that will do it.

Rowan's biggest problems are inconsistent pass protection and mental lapses in the secondary. Willy P isn't a bad club.  They were starting the third string QB.  If this kid stays all four years, he's going to be really good.  Good arm... throws a nice, catchable ball.  Good feet... runs well.  Hangs tough in the pocket.  Too bad he isn't a Prof.

Agreed and +K. Had fun tailgating with some of the Cortland faithful. Good People. Good game. Our "O" play calling has to get better. It makes me wonder. ::)

Thats a real stinger today!  Karma I guess. If we hadn't lost to Kean it wouldn't be so bad.  ECAC's or bust now!  I am now  MSU fan for the rest of the season.
Taste It!

Congrats to Montclair.  Very disappointing defensive effort today.  Gave up big play after big play and none more so than the 40 yd pass late to set up the FG.  Great effort by Cortland to come back.  To bad they couldn't hold the lead.  Hope Fischer isn't hurt too bad.  I think you will need him to run the table.  Back up was a little shaky but to his credit, made the big pass when he had too.  Good luck to the RedHawks.

Actually this was one game where it was looking like I was actually going to give the O line some props.
Good game =yes
Defense tough as usual = yes,  a couple of 15 yd penalties hurt us.
Play calling = not bad today
I think if Fischer didn't get hurt, we would have won by a lot more than a point.

Dave,
Saw you showing off your lovely wife, looks like a keeper. Also saw Ryan McCoach and his parents.

Have to travel to Boston next weekend, so missing the game.  >:(
But I'll be there in spirit

Leaving for West Virginia late Thursday. Homecoming at my college and Alumni meetings. We just need to "Keep Pounding" against Willy P. Let me know if you hear anything on Fisher. I'll be in Ewing in (2) weeks.

At least the school won't be harassing me anymore. Last year, I was even hassled over the use of logos.  So I made my own.  As a man in my early 40's, getting treated like child was getting really old.  Nine years is more than enough abuse.

It would be a real shame if your site disappeared too. If you decide to keep the site going, I offer the following advice:

Differentiate yourself. The official sites are slick these days. Become more of an op-ed site, and say things you know the school can't say. If you think Montclair is the best team in the NJAC or Kean is very fortunate to be undefeated, say so. If you feel West Conn is terrible and is bringing down the conference, let 'er rip. If you are bored with the annual Purple Bowl, tell the world.

The biggest tactical mistake I made was accepting the (very generous) offer to photograph along the sidelines. After that decision, I felt obligated to write more from the school's perspective than my own. And when I did write my own opinions, I heard about it.

For instance the rumor surfaced a few years ago that Cortland would jump to the E8. I wrote that it would make sense financially (travel savings), and would aid recruiting, if we played ball closer to home. Depending on who you listen to, I upset everyone from the coaching staff, to the former A.D., to the head of the NJAC. I was told I would need to sign a letter acknowledging that no Cortland coach gave me this information, though that letter never arrived thankfully.

I took some pictures along the sidelines that I am very proud of. But my website was no more popular during the last year of its existence than it was when I was taking pictures from the stands, and not giving a hoot about what anybody at Cortland thought of my coverage. I paid for my tickets, exercised my free speech, and built a large following. I never should have left the stands.

As far as the school harassing you over logos...they may have a point legally. But it's a weak one. And frankly you could damage their credibility a lot faster by posting about their harassment, than they could damage you by keeping you off the sidelines.

Go rogue.

Agreed. If MSU has Fischer and runs the table, they will be the #1 seed in the region and likely keep MUC in their own bracket. Although I feel Hobart deserves some street cred too. I know they are playing a shortened schedule, but 56-20 over Fisher speaks loudly to me and I don't understand why they aren't ranked. We could end up with 3+ undefeated teams in the East if Hobart and Del Valley finish the job.

Dan / JT,

Both you guys know me and all I can say it that "Politics Suck". I tried to get Sprague Field changed to Sam Mills Field, went after Cole, she sent me to her VP and nothing but double talk. It's still called Sprague Field. >:(

Right now, its re-directed to the official Rowan football site.  I just don't have the time right now, and I can't let a site that has stopped represent the program.  It filled a void for time.  The out-of the-box software for small college sports programs has finally caught up.  They've finally starting using some of my ideas.  Its one of the better communication schools in the East, use the TV station, use the radio station for highlights.

The photos are my thing.  I enjoyed giving them away to parents and players. I don't think the college shares originals with them.  Any time I saw a pic of mine published on D3football, I was so jazzed.

There will come a time when I buy some primo camera equipment, and resurrect rowanfootball.com and/or do stuff for D3football.  I'm actually dying to get back in the booth.  Commenting on football games was one of my favorite things to do back in college.
