If you had a son that lived 30-45 minutes from both Rowan and Widener which school would you prefer for him to attend? Son is trying to choose between several D3's but is leaning toward these. His HS coach is VERY clear that they are both interested.

I'd go with this:

1. Financial package
2. Majors -  If he's interested in TV, Radio or communications Rowan has some of the best facilities in the East, for example.  What is your kid interested in and look at the strengths of the school by major.
3. Living arrangements - short term, long term.  He may have to start in a dorm, but may get into the nicer campus apts after Freshman yr.  Generally, many of the jocks will group together and typically get an off campus apt. by Jr. Sr. year at Rowan.
4. Library - compare libraries.
5. Neighborhoods surrounding the school
6. Coaching styles and systems... what is the system that fits your kid best.

FWIW... I am a Rowan grad, and my Dad is a Pennsylvania Military grad (now Widener).  I went to one and have been to the other often.  Both are good schools.

That would be like those people that tailgate at Yankee games inside the parking decks, I tried it, and hated it.

Does anyone know if the Montclair State vs. Kean game will have video?

wesleydad

dont know about video, but i will be seeing it live and in color.  really looking forward to this game and my trip to montclair state.  will be looking to see if kean has improved from the wesley game, i know they won, but they had holes on defense and the offense was average at best with a real good qb saving them more often then not.  expect it to be low scoring although montclair did put up some points on rowan last week.

A quick look at the NJAC Championship game between Kean and Montclair:

Dan, Your article is right on the money. The only thing a Kean fan could disagree with is your pick for the outcome. Well thought out and to the point. A nice read.  ;) Enjoy the Jug.

One hell of an article!!!! Not only is Garrett the head coach, the D coordinator was one of the best linebackers to come out of MSU and probably one of the toughest people I ever met in Keith Migliorino, the O line coach in Nick Greggorio, who was a three year starter back in the early 2000s when the legend Ed Collins was at the QB helm...

I think the best part about this building rivalry is how it is all left on the field where it belongs. Coach Garrett Migs and Nick Gregorio (Quaf) all come to the MSU Alumni Beefsteak each year and break bread with all of their friends, former teammates and coaches...

This is going to be one for the books, Pat come down to NJ for the game!!!

Montclair State is going to be victorious when that final whistle blows!!!!!! Everything you got guys, leave it all on the field!!!

nice article dan.  saw both the cortland qb and the kean qb and i dont think they are close.  the kean qb has the "it" quality that makes him very annoying to defenses.  i just dont think kean will score much unless montclair turns the ball over.  montclair wins this game.

Thanks wesleydad. I agree with your assessment. Montclair will keep Kean in check, but I don't see the Red Hawks offense doing a lot of damage against Kean either. Should be a great defensive game.

You nailed it on D'Ambrisi. He is flat out annoying to defenses. He does so many things well, and his elusiveness won't let you hit him hard. A lot of teams are happy to see him graduate.

Agreed. Just wrong to tailgate in the parking decks.
