pg, nothing against brockport.  wanted to see them play so i went to the game, 2 hour drive for me.  i actually wanted them to play well, see prior posts, thought this could be a statement game for them.  i have no affiliation with either team.  i know what the score was, but there was never a doubt in my mind as the game played out that kean would not win it.  i understand the records thing and all that but i find it hard to asertain how if you vote for brockport you dont also vote for kean.  if you are a fan of brockport, great, enjoy the season.  next week will be a tough one, rowan's d is similar and as good as keans from what i saw in week 1 against del val.  maybe i expected more from brockport after they beat buff st., just didnt see it this week.

Understandable! I kind of reacted abruptly. I know Brockport had a lot of opportunities at the end of the game in Kean territory but failed to convert. Kean certainly stepped up (remember Kean lost to brockport last year big but still ended up in the playoffs). Point of it all is that Brockport must beat Rowan to have its playoff chances continue. It's another road trip to Jersey which does not bode well. I just hope the whole season just doesn't fall away from them.

I must mention that Brockport's kickoff and punting game is atrocious. Am I way off or did you see that too, Wesleydad?

wesleydad

there was a strong cross wind at the field and both kickers seemed to be trying to keep the ball down to get something out of their kicks.  both missed field goal attempts, 1 for each team, took sharp turns as they flew through the air.  neither team seemed to have a great kicker on kickoffs or punts.  brockport has some big boys on the o line.  i wasnt sure what they were trying to do on offense, didnt seem to have any flow to the plays as the game went on.  dropped passes hurt on several drives.  they will win more than they lose.  i enjoyed our trip to brockport in 07 when wesley played there, was sent to a nice establishment in the area with 200 plus beers on tap, made the 6 hour drive worth it.  might have gone to the rowan game this weekend but i am taking a week off to do some family stuff.

pg04

Yeah, the kicking has been pretty bad in even the wins.

I agree some of the plays were headscratchers. I recall a shovel pass thst was so obvious that the back was blown up as soon as he caught it.

wesleydad

alomst worse, the defender almost got there in time to take the shovel pass.  brock has a tough game this week.  rowan's d did a real nice job shutting down what was expected to be a good offense in del val in week one.  they contained the qb and shut down the run.  i was not overly impressed by the rowan o, so this could end up being a low scoring game.

Should be an interesting week with the matchups. An interesting matchup of TCNj and West Conn. Was last weeks performance against Rowan a fluke or a sign of a team who can play when focused and not turning the ball over? I think TCNJ will win by 14 but it will be much closer than the final score will indicate.

Kean should easily take care of Morrisville but being on the road and overnight is never a good thing.

Paterson should beat Maritime and if they do not then it takes a hit for the league overall.

Onto Rowan vs Brockport. Both have played some quality teams so I expect this one to be down to the wire. With Brockport making another overnight trip I have to give the edge to Rowan.

Now to Cortland vs Montclair. If MSU does not score atleast 21 they will not win. MSU defense can play but the Cortland running combination of Aturea and Myles will be too much too handle. The Montclair offense will try to shorten the game by running with Scoppa to keep Cortland off the field but it will come down to 3rd down conversions which MSU has been horrible at this year. MSU neeeds this in the worse way because you do not want a Loss heading into the next two vs Rowan and TCNJ. If MSU had any "O" coordinator smarts they would open up with playaction on the 1st play and even the 2nd play and take two shots deep but we all know those chances are slim.

When it is all said and done I see Cortland winning 28-13.

Congratulations to AJ Scoppa for making the Team Of The Week From D3 Football at the Running Back Position. Montclair could sure use a little press.
It ain't over till it's over, and when you get to the fork in the road, take it.

Good observations. Now down to the Montclair/Cortland game. You can't compare the Willy P D-Line and Cortlands. AJ will earn every yard he makes. I don't think the word Playaction is in Oconners vocabulary. The few times Drew rolls out he sees the field much better and is dangerous. The problem is that he rolls out from necessity and not by design. Time for coaching to wake up. It would be nice to walk away with a "W" but the odds are long. My thoughys are that the game will be a blow out or very close and if the latter, you never know. ;)

dlip thinks this may have been a down game for Brockport and not entirely indicative of the type of team they are. dlip feels we will get a better read on Brockport after they face the Profs. To dlip,  whichever team comes out on top of this match-up will be his favorite to take the NJAC. dlip may be wrong, but he thinks Kean won't see a ton of success against the better NJAC teams as the year goes on. He should say though that he thinks Rowan will defeat Brockport in a close game.

dlip, i hope so because i expected them to show more than they did.  some credit has to go to the kean d for playing a pretty strong game.  i think rowan's d is similar to keans from what i saw against del val.  rowan looks like they have a better offense than kean, so if brockport is going to win this game they will have to play much better on o than they did last week.  the second week in a row road trip is also a negative to me coming into the game.  i wonder if rowan got caught looking ahead last week against w conn.  if so shame on them.

pg04

So, Brockport misses a 21 yard field goal. I'd love a game without something glaring on special teams. Won't be able to beat Rowan with such stupid mistakes.

pg04

Off to go watch Georgia play Tennessee, Hope to come back to a Brockport win, although it's going to be tough with Rowan. Good luck to both teams and the rest of the NJAC!

FINAL   Rowan 17  Brockport  3

pg, not surprized that brock had trouble scoring today.  rowan is a pretty good squad and has to be the favorite in the njac after today.  will be a good game between them and kean.

Don't overlook Cortland.

rams, not overlooking, just have not seen them play.  rowan has a strong d.  offense can be shut down by a good d so they will be in some low scoring games against good teams.  the kean game is really interesting to me.  can kean score enough to win the game.  will see where they play between cortland, rowan, and kean.  may have to add it to my travel plans.
