I always thought of him 'great coach, total douche'.

I don't think of him as a great coach...

I am a local, and my wife is an alum...
I think he wins when he gets high profile FBS wash-outs that can dominate games, and he loses when he doesn't have them...plain and simple...IMO think that pattern was evident to the new AD...

174-73-1 record as a head coach
21-7 in the DIII playoffs
11-3 in the DI-AA/FCS playoffs

I'd say he does something right.  If getting transfers and recruiting is a big part of his game, it still says a lot about him as a coach.

What he does well is make sure that he has a talent advantage on the field...he's done that at every level he has been.  I can't (first person)say what he does in the locker room, for preparation, or at practice, however...
I do agree with you though...he is a douchebag...I have seen THAT first person...several times...

PBR...

He used to get the talent advantage. He missed the playoffs at Delaware the last 4 out of 5 years. Most also point to his national championship at Delaware as being done with mostly tubby raymonds players with a few of his transfers sprinkled in...Delaware has been on a slow steady decline the last 5 years. New AD wants his coach and put some life back into the program. IMHO keeler stayed way too long at Delaware. He was getting some sniffs from D-1 programs right after his national championship. He should of jumped right then while he was in the spotlight. Unless Delaware was his dream job being an alum. Not sure but my hunch is he wanted to get to D-1A...He took 1 of the 2 paths to get a head coaching position in D-1A and didn't quite get there. The other is what Mangus is doing at south carolina and working his way up as an asst. to coordinator then look to get the head coaching job. Yes by all accounts from many people around keeler he is a class A u.s.d.a. certified douche...

You think you can rely on that crane crap?

Fired close to national signing day ... and Keeler was given a ten-year contract extension through the 2017 season. I guess he'll be able to afford to continue purchasing his fashionable shades while he decides his next move – which should have been made several years ago.

Looks like the Red Hawks have definitely improved on their quality of schedule. Besides Salve and Leb Val they have added Alfred. A very tough OC schedule. We had better step it up from last year. 5-5 is not an acceptable record. I hope our recruiting improves. Does anybody have any insight into the Red Hawks for 2013? With only (4) home games the season will be tough. Congratulations to Montclair for adding Alfred to their schedule.

Hope all is well with you and the family. We need a lot of improvements starting with a QB and better offendive play calling. No matter how angry Montclair make me I am a glutton for punishment. A business trip for the Alfred game is a must. I'm hoping to get to (8) games this year. I would love to open up the Roster limit and get the boys from Dover in the NJAC. :) If I keep hoping, maybe it will happen. Picking up Rowan was a nice move for your guys. Is it football time yet?

Is Montclair's playcalling really that bad? dlip has heard time and again how awful the playcalling is but has yet to witness it in person. Is there a chance anything will change?

dlip,

Yes. Everyone knows that I'm a big Montclair Homer. I go to every home game and try to make most away games within reason. My daughter graduated from MSU in 2005. I played Soccer in college, so I am not a football expert, but when I sit every game perched on top of the 50 yard line and scream out every play before it's called and I'm right 90% of the time, thats pretty F'd up. Since Charlie C left to take over the reigns at Kean and Charlie had his problems(got fired and Garret has done a good job), we have lived on our reputation. I have been following MSU since the DiGeralamo days. Know many players and parents. It's sad to watch this, but maybe it's time to smell the coffee. Time to recruit, coach and play 110-60. Let's see what 2013 brings. Leb Val, Salve and Alfred as OC games is a start. Can we walk our talk?

Eric Hamilton (HC of TCNJ) has been suspended for the first couple of games in 2013. And his son (the DC) was fired/not brought back. They got into an altercation at Kean with some security guards after their game last Oct.

Correction, the game was played at TCNJ and Kean brought their campus police along with them to the game and Coach Hamilton and his Son got into it with them.  Why Kean brought their Campus Police to TCNJ is beyond me, TCNJ has a Campus Police force of their own.  I think there is more to this than is being told.
