# of retuning all njac players..1st team/2nd tea/hm combined

8 Cortland
7 Brockport
6 rowan
4 Morrisville
3 Montclair
3 tcnj
2 kean
2 willy p
Note..3 of the top 4 teams are from NY.

The above being said, how do you expect the NJAC to shake out?
It ain't over till it's over, and when you get to the fork in the road, take it.

"The above being said, how do you expect the NJAC to shake out?"

1. Brockport    Top offense..Rowan, Cortland, Kean, and Montclair all at home. Only 4 road games. #2 returning talent, but a new QB
2. Rowan        Top defense...serviceable offense...Best NJ returning talent
3. Cortland      Defense slipped last year it seemed despite their record..above avg offense. #1 returning talent..but have lost key assistant coaches.
4  Kean          always tough D..slightly above avg offense..seems to have lost a lot of talent
5. TCNJ          HC susp for 2 games. previous OC now HC at Widener. #2 offense last year..despite this.. dark horse bottom half pick
6. Montclair    Above average defense..worst offense in conf (except against Brockport last year.. what happened ?) Avg at best returning talent
7. Willy P       Defense has slipped a bit..but solid..Offense always below avg. Not much returning talent
8. Morrisville  New HC. Bottom of the barrel offense and defense. Only saving grace is they manage to have some talented players.

The 2 surprises I'm sure is Brockport's high ranking and Montclair's poor ranking. Just my opinion and wanted to shake things up a bit. TCNJ could be a bit of a stretch as well

1. Brockport    Top offense..Rowan, Cortland, Kean, and Montclair all at home. Only 4 road games. #2 returning talent, but a new QB- I think every year we expect Brockport to find its way to the top spot but things never shake out that way.
2. Rowan        Top defense...serviceable offense...Best NJ returning talent- Replacing the QB will be tough; Del Val and Wesley OOC-win those games and have a chance at a 1 seed
3. Cortland      Defense slipped last year it seemed despite their record..above avg offense. #1 returning talent..but have lost key assistant coaches.- Will be right in the thick of things as usual.
4  Kean          always tough D..slightly above avg offense..seems to have lost a lot of talent- 3 tough OOC games right off to start, wait and see if they get any transfers
5. TCNJ          HC susp for 2 games. previous OC now HC at Widener. #2 offense last year..despite this.. dark horse bottom half pick- @kean, cortland and rowan will be very tough/ plus with coaching issues could be a red flag
6. Montclair    Above average defense..worst offense in conf (except against Brockport last year.. what happened ?) Avg at best returning talent- lose 8 starters on offense (qb included)/defense should keep them in games/4 out of 1st 5 games on the road/season could get ugly real fast
7. Willy P       Defense has slipped a bit..but solid..Offense always below avg. Not much returning talent- will win 3 or 4 games and beat a team that they should have lost to
8. Morrisville  New HC. Bottom of the barrel offense and defense. Only saving grace is they manage to have some talented players.- how much longer will they stay until they leave for a NY conference?

The 2 surprises I'm sure is Brockport's(agree) high ranking and Montclair's poor ranking(not surprised). Just my opinion and wanted to shake things up a bit. TCNJ could be a bit of a stretch as well

my predictions (will most likely change once rosters are sent out in august)

Cortland 9-1  2nd round of playoffs
rowan  7-3 (probably toughest schedule in the entire league)
kean 7-3
Brockport 6-4 (schedule is not too tough)
Montclair  5-5 (don't see enough returning talent as of today)
tcnj 5-5
willy p  4-6
Morrisville 1-9 ( the usual)

if cortland rowan or kean go 10-0 they would get a 1 seed/ any at 9-1 would be a quality 2 seed in the east

Not totally in agreement and thanks for your opinion +K. I've been following the Montclair circus since 2002.  Know where you are coming from. When will Giancola start to coach again? He has not done it for a while. O'Conner has to go. Everyone knows what Montclair will do on every play. I have a lot of friends that have played and it's sad to watch what is going on. Is Giancola that much of a Idol on campus. I think we go into the NJAC 2-1 and end-up 6-4. I still think about the time I drove out to the sacrificial alter for the 2nd round of the NCAA'S not so long ago.  ::)

Cortland defensive coordinator Ola Adams selected for Bill Walsh NFL Minority Coaching Fellowship and will spend time at the Chi Bears' training facility at Olivet Nazarene U. in Bourbonnais, IL. beginning July 25. NY Jets begin camp that day at Cortland. Adams one of five selected by the Bears. Program in existence since 1987 and produced the likes of Mike Tomlin, Tony Dungy and Lovie Smith. Earlier this year Adams attended the NFL-NCAA Coaches Academy in Charlotte, NC. He begins his third season with the Red Dragons in August

This will be year 2 for the MAC NJAC challenge. Last years 8 game series ended in a 4-4 draw. All games took/take place on the opening weekend. The same matchups for this year..but the venues are reversed.  Note * the NJAC;s top team from last season.Cortland..does not/did not participate. Also.. W CONN is not a member of the NJAC this season.
Looking back..the best matchups (based on final records) last season were 1. Del Val vs Rowan and 2. Lyco v. Brockport St. Both games were won by the NJAC team. Biggest mismatch was/ is Widener v W Conn.

D3viewer

Self correction. Widener/ W Conn will not play this year. Makes sense. Saw on the home page Widener opens w Wesley. Haha ..what a difference. But makes a much better game. That's a tough opener Coach Acosta. Old NJAC guy.

D3MAFAN

I didn't notice any NJAC teams in the Top 25. Any thoughts??? Cortland basically #26.

rams1102

Your Top 2 teams in the NJAC are Cortland and Rowan. B-Port should also be good. Montclair, Kean and TCNJ could go either way, but not expecting much. As a Montclair fan depending what we do at QB probably 6-4 / 5-5. Recruiting is the key and Montclair has not done well in that departmentt in the past years. Always hoping in August and usually disappointed by the end of game #6. Cortland or Rowan should be in the Top 25 at some point this year. Not sure if we will get (2) teams going to the dance this year.
It ain't over till it's over, and when you get to the fork in the road, take it.

What's going on in the NJAC?  Why are perennially strong teams settling back into the pack?

One of the issues is the 100 man roster limit. Teams like Wesley and Del Val can over recruit since they have no limit. Eventually I think the NJAC will do away with the 100 limit. Also with Kean becoming more successful and having top facilities you have Rowan MSU and Kean all within 2 hour drives competing for some of the same kids. So it is getting tougher for one team to get all the top players and keep them for all 4years. I do not think we will ever see another early 2000s MSU or Rowan team.

In terms of the top 25, cortland and rowan are right around where they should be. All the teams have competitive non conference games so we can see who has a solid team early on.
