Interesting week for the NJAC.  Strong showing by Rowan against #12 Widener.  Wins by William Paterson and Frostburg St. are good for them and Christopher Newport won the conference game against UCNJ.  So. Virginia got crushed.  Salisbury's loss looks bad to me since they were up 23-3 entering the 4th and lost.  Montclair's loss to Del Val also looks bad since Del Val had to replace an entire offense and half of the defense.  Del Val will likely contend for the MAC title with Widener so in the end it may not be as bad as it seems today.  I was impressed by Rowan's defense, they are going to make it tough on everyone they play.  The d line took over the game yesterday.  They will need to find a passing game because good teams will be able to stop Marcellin.  Widener did yesterday except for 2 runs, but that was all Rowan needed with the defense.  I can say it is fun getting to follow a conference each week instead of just looking at a few national teams.

Thanks for the recap of the Rowan game.  NJAC will be brutal this season for some teams.  Either MSU or Salisbury will have two losses after next week.  Tough way too start, but either team will still be in conf. race.

Dave--  most of us had S Va playing "Redemption" giving 14+.  I believe most of us thought their opponent was a step up from the "Sisters of the poor".  I move that the game be a win for all since SVa played Rhodes-- who scored 62.  Can't see va being a two touchdown favorite in that game😕!!

Montclair and Salisbury really shot themselves in the foot. The loser on the 19th will be in huge trouble.

I read a post on another board and it appears that we were the King of trash talk and the Joker of the final score. When do people learn that you have to walk the walk before you should talk the talk. ::) DelVal returned 2 on"O".  ??? We even had a chance at the end to possibly tie or win. Now there is no room for error. I still love you guys, but shape-up.
It ain't over till it's over, and when you get to the fork in the road, take it.

Sorry, I responded to you earlier and it went into cyberspace. I did not count the SoVA. game and congrats to your boys win and being ranked in he top 25. That took a lot for me to say that since there is no love lost between the 2 schools.  ;D

Rams, it the trash talk is true that is a shame and stupid.  Win on the scoreboard and you dont have to talk trash.  It does look really bad if you have been trash talking and cant/dont back it up.  Anyone with 1 loss early in the NJAC is in trouble unless they can run the table.  2 losses will not get you in the playoffs and with Rowan and Wesley still to play it will be tough.

I caught a bits and pieces of the Salisbury vs. Albright game and Salisbury did shoot themselves (second half fumbles) in the foot, I thought they had the talent to put the game away in the second, but the big on three occasions they gave Albright a short field and Albright capitalized, even though Albright had all the momentum, it appeared that Salisbury was going to comeback and win it with the field goal. However, just like the beginning of the game, not executing a short kick became detrimental to them.

Congrads to Rowan for hitting the top 25!  That is the way to start the season.  Well done on the win.

Interested to see how the Wesley LBs look in Frostburg this weekend. Pressure will definitely be on them as a relatively young and inexperienced group.

I am just curious about the entire team.  I haven't been this clueless about the Wolverines since I attended my first Wesley game vs. Morrisville State in 2006.  We could very well be in for some surprises, both good and bad this year.  I know Wesley knows how to recruit, but with so many new faces, it is going to be a different team.  We are already talking about the offensive line being larger, and concerns about the defense have been brought up.  As usual, until Wesley hits the field, we have a pretty big question mark.  Will Wesley be able to dominate the line as it has done in the past?  Will there be enough targets for Callahan?  Only time will tell.

Which line are we talking about dominating?  Wesley has never been dominant on the O line.  That is usually the achilles heel when they play top level teams.  The linebackers will likely be very good as they usually are and they will almost certainly have targets for Callahan.  Can they cover? Will they avoid stupid penalties? Can they get a running game going?  Will the special teams improve on coverage and kicking?  Will they avoid the early season loss to a lesser opponent?  That is what I want to see.

I'm talking about the Offensive Line.  From what I am hearing (from waterboy and some of the players) the offensive line is pretty deep this year and has some size.  Penalties.....yeah, I don't want to talk about those......

This is scary to think about but as athletic as the defense was last year, it is even more athletic this year in terms of team speed.  The thing is will that speed translate to the field. DaJahn Lowery and Anthony Brinkley will probably start at corner along with Connally and Lowery is an All-American on the track and Brinkley was an alternate on the 4x1 Relay thattook 3rd in the Nation 2 years ago.

At linebacker, Julian Jones is faster than any starting LB last year and Wescott/Maginnis were definitely not the fastest.

I am nervous about the offense in spite of having Callahan return.  Is Shade a real #1 WR and losing Koudossou, Bundy and Wiggs will hurt. Alex Kemp is fast but has never played WR in a game and Okike, despite getting much faster after joining the track team last year, is also unproven.

I think its a stretch to say that this defense will be more athletic. You lose a huge piece in Sosthene Kapepula, and while I think highly of Julian Jones too, you still are losing all the experience that Maginnis, Kapepula and Wescott had. As far as the DBs go, I think they are a group that's coming together, but we will see.

I wouldn't be nervous about the offense at all. The whole o-line returns for the most part, and Callahan is going to have weapons. George is going to get more targets. Tory Robinson is a solid backup at TE. Baynard is great out of the backfield and can catch passes. You forgot to mention Monaghan in that receiver corps as well.
