NJAC today.  I thinking Kean beats TCNJ, Frostburg beats So VA, and Rowan beats Willie P.  In the other match ups I think Salisbury is going to give Montclair trouble and win.  After looking at the results from last week and seeing the issues that CNU had scoring on Hampden I think they are in for a long day.  I think Wesley wins this by 21 - 28 points.  Nice day for football and the field dedication for Coach Drass.

Just win by 24.5 ;D Now down to my Red Hawks. In the beginning of the year I had the Delval game as a L with L to Wesley and we run the rest of the table. We always suck in game 1. Leaving for Sam Mills Field in a little. If the D follows the ball we will be OK. If we go 0-2 it's over.
It ain't over till it's over, and when you get to the fork in the road, take it.

Wesley secondary struggling.....CNU threatening again, 14-10 Wesley 2nd quarter.

Sounds like the O-line is playing pretty well though. 21-17 Wesley. 10:34 to go in the second

CNU85

28-17. Halftime. Never would have thought CNU would be hanging until halftime.

Well, nobody said the NJAC would be easy!  Cudos to CNU for playing their hearts out.  I have a feeling that they will be giving the rest of the NJAC more heartburn than they care to have.  CNU ran the ball well and their crossing routes were damning.   Wesley's defense took a good half to adjust their cover schemes to finally halt the CNU offense in the second half.  I can tell you one thing, Callahan's second TD pass MUST be added to the play of the day roster this week.  He was dead to rights in the hold of the CNU defense but found out a way to break free and throw one hell of a TD pass.  I haven't seen a play like that since McSweeny's play of the week several years ago.  Making everything out of nothing.  That is Callahan in five words.

So, Wesley's depth ultimately won out today.  I hope that the game brings that "come to Jesus" moment that Wesley needs to settle the squads down.  Playing North Central next week will be a big challenge (even though they lost today) so Wesley will have to iron things out this week.

A BIG congrads to Coach Drass on his 200th victory today.  The guy is as genuine as you will find in the sport of football.  Well done sir!

The stats finally game out for the CNU-Wesley game.  For Wesley, Callahan passed for 309 yards and 3 TD's.  Baynard ran for 179 and Okike had 134 yards receiving on 3 plays.  The defense also nabbed 3 interceptions.  Not too shabby.

Congrats to Coach Drass on his 200th win.  Offensively this team is going to be good.  Baynard running between the tackles makes defenses stay home opening up the sweeps.  The receivers are going to improve and Okike's height makes him tough to cover.  Callahan is under control.  The defense needs to improve.  CNU converted almost every 3rd and long in the first half.  Receivers were wide open.  Wesley put pressure on the QB and got sacks and pretty much shut the running game down.  Special teams needs to improve.  The kickoff coverage looked a little slow getting downfield.  All in all a pretty good performance.  Now looking forward to my trip to Naperville for the NCC game next Saturday.

Went 5 for 5 in my NJAC predictions.  Salisbury looks much better with their easy win yesterday.  Put that together with Albright's trouncing of Widener who the Gulls led 23 - 3 and it looks like the NJAC could be a 3 team race with them, Wesley, and Rowan.  Rowan will be tough with a very good defense and an offense that will run it and run it some more hoping to break a few of those to win games.  Much more fun following a conference.

rams1102 - As the only remaining and consistent Red Hawks poster (where did the other's from the past go?), what do you think is happening with this team? With all of the returning players on both sides of the ball, I really expected a lot more out of them. They had two weeks to get over that DelVal upset, but yesterday was brutal. Do you think they bounce back or does this look like a 7-3, 6-4 team on the fringes of an ECAC bid?

Much more fun following a really good conference. I like some of what happened yesterday. CNU put up pretty good numbers against a very good and fast defense. Not may teams this year will be able to say:
1. We had the lead against Wesley
2 we had the ball for 37 minutes
3 we had 84 offensive plays
4 we averaged 4.6 yes per play
That's some good stuff against a good team. Someone told me last night, and I respect his thoughts and insight, that if Wesley were in the Big South conference that they would be a third place team. Wow! The Big South! FCS! Scholarship guys! That speaks volumes for the talent on Wesley's team.

Not shabby at all. What a team the Wolverines have this year! Congrats on the win!

I think the team is above average team but they did lose the NJAC defensive player of the year and the special teams player of the year as well as their kicker. So their special teams has seemed to take a major step back this year. The offense has never been explosive since the late 90s and early 2000s. Losing to Salisbury who runs the triple option is not surprising since they have not seen it in quite a few years. A general statement is the NJ football schools I think need to expand their recruiting bases to get more PA NY and Delaware kids and not just rely on a NJ base.

I was there on Sat and very disappointed. Keep in mind our 1st team All American did not play along with Alverez, Koonce and a few others. We appeared to be pretty banged-up. It appeared that we lost our fight. The Salisbury QB was very elusive. I have the spread at 17.5 @ Rowan. Not sure we can cover, but it is a game where we hate each other. Recruiting is the key. We have to get better.  7-3 would be an awesome finish. Start saying some Novena's. Looks like a long year.
