For Wesley fans who have interacted with him for years NNASid was let go from his position. Actually his position was eliminated.  I don't know if he pops in here or not , But Jim if you are out there join us for some good old posts

Awe, that is sad indeed.  I met Jim on several occasions and you will not meet a nicer guy.  I sincerely wish him the best in his future.  He is as genuine as you will find.

Getting amped up for the NCC game!  Watching the NCC weekly program and the stats, the Wesley Defense will definitely need to focus on NCC's running game.  Against UWP, the Cardinals racked up 230 yards rushing.  Their O line can open up holes allowing their backs to blast through the line.  They also like to use the QB option sweep.  It will be critical for the Wesley defense to stay home and fill those holes.  In addition, NCC's big lead throughout the first 3 quarters was helped by two critical interceptions and good special team play.  If Wesley plays a clean game it will go far to mitigate additional opportunities for the NCC offence to move the ball.  Special teams will have to play well.

If Wesley plays its game, they should be able to win this thing out.  The Wolverines have a real balanced offense and that will be a big boon in keeping the NCC defense guessing.  The defense had an awesome second half last week and hopefully will continue to keep the pressure on the QB.  NCC's pass defense was not that good against UWP.  Any which way, this will be a challenging game to say the least.  NCC is burning from the UWP loss and will have something to prove.  I thank the gods that Wesley has more experience than any other team on the road and has been in the most hostile of environments.  No mistakes!  Is it Saturday yet!?!

Really, I think Wesley can make mistakes and win tomorrow.  There are only a few teams in D3 (maybe only one really) that I think require mistake-free football to beat.  North Central isn't on that short list.  They are very good and they have very good players, but Wesley is at least their equal (probably better).  Wesley will have to be sharp, but they shouldn't play with the pressure of having to be "perfect".  I expect Wesley will win by double digits tomorrow.

Yeah, plus it looks like Brown, the NCC lead running back might be out for the season with a torn ACL.

Maybe....maybe not. Last year Ryan Kent, one of the leading rushers in NCC history, started the Wheaton game. He went down in the first quarter and we thought it was going to be our night. Oshayne Brown made his debut that night as a freshman and ran it 21 times for 145 yards. He was not on anyone's radar. I fear (and wouldn't be surprised by) another Oshayne Brown on that roster. I have seen this movie too many times.

Looking forward to this matchup. I disagree with Wally. I would be surprised to see NCC lose at home to anyone by double digits. It could certainly happen, but I doubt it.

The injured Mr. Brown was averaging 9.2 yards per rush. His backup, Austin Breunig is averaging a very healthy 7.2, and has 2 TDs including one of 46 yards. Third stringer Andrew Sledd averages a not shabby 5.5

North Central will probably  have to throw the ball a lot to beat Wesley. The Wesley run D is very good. But if NC  does have success running the ball and keeps the ball out of Wesley's O hands they will keep the game close. IF NC sells out on the rush to get to  Callahan and leave people open they are  in for a long day .  Joe is very evasive and can throw the ball a long way n the run

Yep. Almost a decade ago I flew up to NJ and my dad picked me up at the airport. We drove out to Wilkes to see his and my mom's alma mater blow out my alma mater W&L in the General's first playoff appearance the next day. Then he drove me back and put me on a late plane. One of my favorite memories despite the score. You don't get a lot of those moments with your dad once you grow up and move away or have a family, so I certainly hold that memory dear. I hope you enjoy yours just as much.

NCC is 60% run. That won't change vs Wesley, it's what they do. They will run it 40+ times.

dlippiel

Dlip is hoping Wesley wins this one handily today. Dlip has not seen NC play but has a ton of respect for their program. He feels it may be close today but again, for the sake of the East, he hopes that some monkey stomping takes place ;)

Wow.  Wesley down 28-14 at the half.  The secondary and special teams are out to lunch.  I certainly hope that Wesley's second half tenacity kicks in or this will be a long, long game.  Wesley is typically a second half team, so that is definitely possible.  The offense is looking pretty good.  Everything is about 1% off.  So, I expect the offense to kick in.  The defense did a great job last week in making adjustments.  We'll see what happens today.   ::)
