Last year was the year for Wesley to win it and I never understood the defensive scheme they played against Mount Union last year.  Wesley was much more athletic than John Carroll last year, and John Carroll played man against Mount Union which gave them trouble.  I still believe that Wesley was a better team than Mount Union in 2014 but I think fear might be the factor and now we'll never know what could have been.
Arguable for any year that Wesley has gone deep in the playoffs to be "the year." 2010, you have a healthy Ellis Krout and you may have an answer vs. UWW. 2011, Wesley was literally one or two dropped passes from winning that game in Alliance. 2013, one mistake from winning (Punt Return TD, pick-6 etc etc). I dont understand where you say fear would be a factor.

I  think that it is too early to be discounting the Wolverines D in terms of the remainder of the year. If the playoffs started today, of course they would be in trouble, but they dont. Wesley still has the athletes (while no Kapepula) to improve and compete at a high level. Depth on defense will be interesting however. There are even more unfamiliar faces in those ranks.

Fear was shown by playing zone the entire game when you have the athletes to match up man-to-man. If John Carroll can do it against Mount Union and give them trouble, Wesley should be able to do the same since they have better athletes in terms of speed.  Not to mention you can count the number of times they blitzed in the Semi's on one hand.

Wesley posted its highlight video for the NCC game.  I love the narration....so retro!  Anyways, the video shows some really good clips of Callahan's incredible scrambling.

I'm wondering if Hurricane Joaquin will affect this weekend's games.  Heavy rain and winds at least for the Wesley/ Southern Virginia game Saturday.

SVa's only hope is Hurricane Joaquin forcing a rain out...

Doesn't look like it's going to be that far north on Saturday...unless they can get the game postponed to Sunday night or Monday :)

Rowan/CNU will be in some heavy rain and nasty weather.

Wait.  So you are saying in 2014 Wesley was a better team than the team that was beating them 70-0 after three quarters?

Yep you are correct.  It seems to be slower than originally predicted.   We should only have to deal with rain then......

This rain is ridiculous. It has been raining for days and will continue. The wind will pick up. Local flooding.

Nice. If anyone from Rowan is coming down for the game, be safe!

I'm waiting for NASCAR to cancel the race at Dover on Sunday.  They cancelled the transporter parade today.

Yeah, that one jumped out at me too. I've definitely seen the "better" team lose a game, or win after digging themselves a 14-21 point hole. But you don't trail a team you're better than by 70 points. That ship sails long before the 10th touchdown.

Yes.......and I really thought this was the year that Southern Virginia should have beaten Salisbury, with the exception of like 11 or 12 of the 13 touchdowns....and 13 extra points  ;)

@d3jason

Wesley/Southern Virginia looks like it's postponed for now. Start may be pushed back to later Saturday or Monday night.
