It ain't over till it's over, and when you get to the fork in the road, take it.

Tough week to play on the road for Wesley.

I think Wesley saw both a better QB/Receiver corp and defensive line yesterday. So I expect the run game to look better than against FSU. Wesley finally found some limited success once they ran off tackle instead between the tackles. Hopkins doesn't have that 6-3, 370 NG that FSU had. No moving that guy.

Defensively, Hopkins is always disciplined and will be well prepared, but I don't think they will stop Wesley from scoring, especially if they don't bring some heat on Callahan. they'll have to tackle well so they don't give up the big catch and runs that Wesley can do.

Hopkins o-line looks pretty big and athletic and do a nice job getting out of bubble screens, so that could be a problem for Wesley. Their play action off of zone read is pretty good, Wesley's LB crew had better know their reads this week.

Special teams seems to be a wash here, no advantage until execution.

Wesley had a more competitive game in the first round, but I see that as an advantage. No chance to overestimate their abilities moving forward. Just hang onto the ball and dig in for a battle on Saturday.

Go Wesley.

Well, if Wesley has to rely on the LB to make plays this week than they have no chance.  I saw that Hopkins only had 1 sack and the New Eng had 5 turnovers.  That will make any team look bad especially if you are under manned anyway.  I expect Wesley to win this game, but they better hold onto the ball and score in the 30's or more, they may need that much to win.

IMO, yesterday's game v. Framingham was never in doubt. They were able to keep it close by limiting Wesley to just 4 offensive possessions in the first half.

I think Callahan can give us a fighting chance against anyone. Really one of the best passers in the nation, but the defense needs to pick it up. Just seems a little unorganized (9 men on the field and running guys off and on last second). The d line was able to get pressure late, but ultimately were unable to stop Framingham completely. I think they were able to get at least 1 first down every drive.

Maybe its me, but I think the quick play of the offense takes momentum away from the opposition, or at least nullifies any momentum they have. When the opposition scores, Wesley is able to quickly march down and return the favor before anyone can stop and think about it.

I agree the game was never in doubt, but I think Framingham was able to expose some already on going flaws that the defense had. I'm with WesleyDad, I just can't complete believe how unorganized they looked at times on defense and just slow to react in general to some of the route combinations that Framingham was running. Even running the ball, Framingham was able to have some mild success in which other instances this year they haven't been able to muster ANYTHING. I agree with Wesley beating John Hopkins but I think Wesley is going to have to get to 40 to make sure it happens. I don't know if John Hopkins is going to apply the same bleed the clock method Framingham did, I think they are going to go into the game thinking they are going to dictate the terms defensively, as their starters are pretty much holding most teams scoreless. That right there will ensure Wesley possessions that they lacked against Framingham to beef up the score. This Wesley offense is just so damn good, Callahan is truly a special player back there and they have just so many weapons offensively to deal with. I do hope the tight end is back for Wesley, because its just another option to throw too but the kid is a good blocker as well. Just makes them that much more difficult to defend.

I said it at the beginning of the year and still see it the same way now. No disrespect to JHU, but Wesley's season starts in the National Quarterfinals. I just didn't think they'd be playing (likely) Mount Union quite yet.......was thinking more like the semifinals. The players can't think this way of course but you want to get the stench of least year's Mount Union game out of your mouth :)

Joe Callahan makes the Semifinal list for the Gagliardi trophy today.  Well done Joe!  I think he should be a true challenger for the honor.  He certainly deserves it with everything he has done for Wesley football and the community.

If Wesley beats JHU, I'll be pleasantly happy. If they beat Mount, I'll do laps around my house -- nude.

As down as the defense may be, I think Callahan gives us a chance against anyone

Been asleep at the wheel a couple times in my life, but I find it amazing Cortland and Salisbury switched conferences and then each eeked out the championship of their new conference.

Maybe they were reinvigorated by the less travel...

Is there anybody on the boards that has seen JHU play this year?
