And I can't get past how easily Mount put 49 on the board in the first half.  Yes, Wesley scored more than UWW did but the game was never in doubt after the first 10 minutes whereas UWW made Mount work for ever yard they got and it wasn't until late in the 4th before Mount put it away.

Actually, Wesley was still in the game with over 6 minutes left having drawn within 14 points in the 4th quarter and the game wasn't over until MU ran the ball in with 6 minutes left.  None of the 35 points that Wesley scored would be considered garbage time scores.

Coach, have to disagree here.  28-14 with 6 mins left in half is not a game over with Mount just scoring to make it a 2 score game.  The next 6 mins made it look like the game was over.  In the end it was not as easy as you mention.  After Mount went up 15-6 on UWW the game was over.  They did nothing offensively to make Mount ever worry about the outcome.  I am a Wesley fan, but as you know pay great attention to what is going on around the nation.  I agree the line play did not seem to be that good, but after the last 2 games for Mount, were the other teams really that much better?

HScoach

Dad, I completely get where you're coming from and if I hadn't followed and studied Mount for the last 25 years I might agree with you.  However if you want to scare me your team has to play defense.    Mount has been in plenty of shoot outs with stud QB's plenty of times over the years and has always come out on top.  Starting in the early 90's the way to beat Mount is to stop them, not out score them.  And yes, Callahan did a great job bringing them back into the game but until Wesley can make the defensive stop late in the game it won't matter.  When you needed it most, Nemeth breaks a 70 yarder untouched.  Ball game.

Wesley is close.  Really close.
I find easily offended people rather offensive!

Statistics are like bikinis; what they reveal is interesting, what they hide is essential.

Wesley finishes up 6th ranked for the year.  Callahan and Shade make D3foootball.com 1st Team All-Americans.  Schmidt makes 3rd Team.  Not too shabby.

Very happy for our 5 All-Americans but how is Joe Callahan not the Offensive Player of the Year.  2 Straight Years it has just been the 1st Team All-American that had a better Championship Game offensively despite it being called a yearly award.

Well Since this was announced before the Stagg Bowl (and always is) I am not sure how that applies.

Pat Coleman

PG -- actually, I hate to correct you but while we do announce the All-America teams before the game, we hold out the Players of the Year and Coach of the Year until afterward. Sometimes those award winners are in the game, but not always.

Wesley opens with Delaware Valley on a Friday night at home! Other than that, no real surprises as far as scheduling goes. More schedule security from being in a conference, but there is no real excitement to find out who Wesley is playing than in years' past. Ah well.

True, but it was a lot of fun traveling with the team and having them manhandle DII, NAIA and the occasional FCS teams.  North Greenvilles's new football field was something to behold and experiencing Wesley beat Charleston Southern was awesome!  Wesley is no longer D3's mercenary team.......

In the end, I bet the powers that be are overjoyed they don't have to try to find seven or eight games a year (after the usuals with Salisbury and Frostburg). And of course the more direct road into the postseason (or at least we thought).

I went to Brockport before in the 4 years before they joined the ACFC (and even that only provided 3 games) and their schedule, although it had some regulars, was quite a hodgepodge which was interesting to behold - although they didn't have trouble getting D3 games. However, I am happy to have joined the NJAC and then now the E8.

Joe Callahan competed in the NFL Regional Combine today in Baltimore (I think). Hope it went well!
