Don't be fooled: the score of the SU game was 34-18, but the game wasn't nearly that close. SU should've had about 2-3 more touchdowns, but they hurt themselves and made asinine mistakes.

Overall it was a good win. Lots of big plays in the first quarter for SU, while it seemed liked Albright didn't want to even be there.

I'm quite shocked by the loss Wesley suffered to Del Val. I'll be watching how Wesley responds, for sure.

For Welsey, both QB's still need a lot of work.  Falkenberg started the game and was obviously nervous out there.  When he was brought back in the second half after a stint by Kesack, that didn't change.  Wesley could have won the game if you take out those silly turnovers and penalties (4 interceptions, 1 key fumble in the 4th and over 100 yards of penalties).   Wesley simply does not have the skills right now to overcome any sort of miscues whatsoever like they used to.  The roughing the QB call in the first half pretty much gifted that last TD to Del Val.   The team simply was not ready for the season to start and this game played like the first game of an NFL preseason.  Wesley will have to earn this season for sure.

Ski - I love you but I have to take wesleydad's more objective analysis of the game (over on the MAC board). He didn't go down the "if you take out the silly turnovers and penalties" route (kind of like saying if not for the silly gun incident, President Lincoln would have enjoyed the play ;) ). He didn't bring up a "gifted TD". He did bring up that the game would not even have been close if DelVal's QB did not overthrow wide open receivers on at least two occasions, that DelVal's defensive line was seemingly in Wesley's backfield on every play, mentioned DelVal's size on defense and how the DB's challenged Wesley and that the DelVal offensive line is better than Wesley's (I can't fathom this given all of DelVal's issues there). Maybe I'll split the difference on both of your takes of the game. I still think that Wesley runs the NJAC and gets a high seed in the tournament.

Question for the Wesley folks. Although the production was "middle schoolish" at best with the grainy video and odd camera angles, I'd still like to actually watch last night's game. I'm assuming that Wesley archives their games like every other team in the area. Do you know how to go about accessing the archived video on the website?

Thanks!

Forget the QB play, there was no reason to only run the ball with Jamar Baynard just 4 times (got 1 pass completed to him as well) in the 2nd half.  We were only down by 7 and we go away from our best offensive weapon and throw the ball with a pair of guys who can't throw downfield.

Offensive Line was decent and the defense which struggled in the 1st half, only allowed 85 yards in the 2nd half. We struggle with penalties every year.

stonecold, agree on baynard needs the ball more and the defense was good in the second half and too many penalties as usual.

Bingo!  Feed Baynard and run the ball!  I didn't understand why he Baynard wasn't getting more touches last night, as well as, other times last season.

Last year the reason was Joe Callahan.

I would think having an NFL talent QB would cover more than a few gaps...
Now those are much more visible...

Congrats to Wesley fans on Joe Callahan making the Packers....hope that takes some of the sting out of the DV loss

My Seagulls gotta fix that run defense. I thought Albright's corners did a better job of forcing our running backs out of bounds when we ran outside. It was still great to get the win. I'm sure our coaches will break that film down and find a way to tighten up that middle also. Quick question for you all. This is my first year being involved in college football because of my son. Is it typical for freshmen to not play in games? Should my wife and I have our eyes set on seeing him play next year as a sophomore? I apologize if the question seems dumb, we're not used to him being on the sideline and having to explain this to my wife was difficult.

Thanks 👍🏾

Some freshman play, some don't. I know SU has some freshman playing, and one even starting on defense. The thing with college football is that some kids will never see the field at all, even though they were all-county or all-state in highschool. I have no idea what your son's circumstances are, but I wish him the best.

"While many of the Packers' undrafted players were turning in their playbooks Saturday, rookie quarterback Joe Callahan was among those receiving the good news that they'd made the 53-man roster......The most impressive addition was Callahan, who wedged his way into the discussion in a season when the Packers probably allotted just two spots to quarterbacks. A former Division III star at Wesley College, Callahan made tangible improvements from week to week during the exhibition season. "

Awesome news!!!!!  So proud of Joe!!!!   :D

Thanks for letting me know. I'm not sure where my son fits in Coach Wood plans. We'll just have to wait and see. I told him to just continue to work hard and be ready if his number is called. That's all he can do right now. Thanks again for the feedback. 👍🏾
