Wow, what a night. Congrats to Frostburg, they are starting off where they left off. I think they are on their way back to being very very respectable. Wesley 2nd half look very good. I will be looking forward to our matchups with both teams to finish the season off, hopefully those games have playoff birth implications. Well on to tonight, we have to take care of business against the MAC to get up on the NJAC/MAC challenge. Good luck to the remaining teams this weekend.

Don't normally post on here, but my apologies for the WDEL webstreaming issues last night.  We have a new system for the web version of our broadcast that puts it out of the control of both the talent calling the game (it's never been that way), and our board operator back in Wilmington.

We were able to finally get IT on the line to fix the problem, so I'm hoping that'll be the last time this happens during the season.

Listeners on 101.7FM/1150AM heard no problems, hence we didn't know right away until calls/tweets came into us.

Anyone who has ever called a game while dealing with a technical issue can realize the frustration level I had last evening.

That's ok.  It was a game that I was more than happy just to watch the stats pop up on the screen without putting my fist through it.

Whelp.....With all the mistakes Wesley made, take back the 70 yard fumble return and you have a victory, right?  Gotta look at the positives.  By the way, Frostburg was a beast tonight against Stevenson!  Well done guys.

-Ski

No Ski, you can not take back the fumble return for a positive.  They were bad the first half and the fumble was a bad decision, could have dumped it off to 2 receivers for positive yards.  The defense needs to start games off aggressive and stop playing lay off coverage.  Too many dink and dunks led to double moves for 2 easy TD's.  Second half went press and took away short passes and Darden was forced to try and find someone and no one could get open.  If you want to look at positives, the adjustments in the second half worked.  The safety was on a blitz with 5 wide so no help when the tackle misses the block.  That is when I left so I did not see the last TD drive, it got rather chilly.  WDEL did not come in up there so I could not listen to it on the way home.  The other positive is EJ Lee.  He is going to be good, real good.  The O line run blocks well enough and he makes nice cut backs into open space.  He will make many defenses look bad.  I dont know what to make of Falkenberg, he throws a nice ball, but seems hesitant, worried about making a mistake?  In the end this game means nothing, win the NJAC and they are in.  3 weeks to get things fixed.  Dont think you change QB's if the backup comes in and is 0-4.  Oct. 7 at Frostburg will now be on my travel agenda after their trouncing of Stevenson tonight, which did not surprise me.

My whole point was that if Wesley mitigated the mistakes, it would have been a victory.  It is a positive that Wesley was still in the game in the 4th quarter and it shows the talent the team has that will carry it through the season if it can get its act together.  Geez.

Ski, if you were at the game, they were not in the game.  They scored a late TD to make the game look close but it was not that close.  This is the usual early season not ready to play game.  The talent is there, but why do they always seem lost early in the year.  I get your point, but the game is played and they were not good enough to win it.  You cant play like that against a pretty good team and expect to win.

wesleydad

NJAC not showing well to start the season.  Wesley and Salisbury losing to two of the top teams in the MAC, but still losing.  Frostburg gets the win.  Tomorrow night Rowan and Widener in the rain.  Still not good showing.

And TCNJ lost to FDU. And FDUs stats are comical...593 yards passing and 13 yards rushing on 11 attempts. Do they run a no huddle no back offense ?

The good news is that they now have time to figure it out before they see Frostburg on Oct 7. A bye week next week, then TCNJ, William Paterson, and SoVa.

EJ Lee and the run game were impressive. Hope it stays that way. If we can get the ball to guys like Okike and Kemp in space, the Wesley offense will be just fine. Gotta wonder how hurt Falkenberg is though.

wesleydad

fun first week so far.  many top teams going down to defeat.  The east is a mess with 6 of the top 10 ranked teams in kickoff going down to defeat.  So far the best team I have seen is Brockport.  I did not see Frostburg beat Stevenson so I can not say how they are.  If this is the way the season is going to go each week will be fun.

wesleydad

Dont like the gray unis for cnu.  Like the blue much better.  SVU changed their colors too, or at least I thought they used to be green and white.  SVU defense is not very good.

thewaterboy

Rowan looks terribly 1 dimensional. Only 10 yards passing in the 3rd quarter.

CNU85

Good start for CNU and a new coach. Stats have the first score incorrect. It was a passing TD. So KJ was 35-40 311 yds and 4 TDs. Most of that was first half. All of his TDs were in first half. Congrats Coach Link!!

I almost went to that game, it was dreadfully boring to watch.  Neither team is very good on offense, or they have killer defenses which I do not think is the case.

A 6-0 game is a true achievement in these modern times.....
