I thought for sure Wesley would move up at least one or two slots, but nope, still at 13.  I thought teams with single losses were supposed to get passes like St. Thomas or Linfield, right?   I don't usually complain about rankings, but sometimes, things just don't compute.  Wesley has beat two ranked teams this year and its only loss is to 7th ranked Del Val.   Linfield has had closer scrapes than Wesley and yet they are currently ranked 8th.  Then there is St. Thomas with a loss to an unranked team (yeah, yeah WIAC SHMIAC) and a far worse strength of schedule.......  Ok, rant over.....

Let me preface this post by acknowledging that Top 25 poll doesn't really matter BUT I too was a little surprised Wesley didn't bump up a few spots. Maybe it's that stigma that the East is weaker comparatively to the others. But I agree, looking at some of the teams above Wesley it is a little puzzling.

There was virtually no shifting among the top 19 teams in the poll - Saturday was a VERY quiet day in terms of upsets.

1. Congrats to Wesley!!  NJAC Champs!
2. CNU game was ridiculous. Lackluster. Worst effort I've seen in 17 years of CNU football.
3. That's all

What happened this year?  They seemed to have such a promising start.....  Surprisingly close game for Frostburg as well......

I'm pretty certain the OL is banged up, but they've absolutely fallen off a cliff and it's puzzling...do you have any insight, '85?

Nice win be Wesley today.  Trailed 20-13 at the half, held the Gulls scoreless and win 30-20.  Overall good.  First half was a little disjointed on offense, second half looked much better.  Burrough going for 65 on a QB sweep was the key play to the win.  Defense made nice adjustments and limited the big plays in the second half.  Next week play a reeling CNU team that lost to TCNJ today.  CNU85 says they are really bad right now.  Wesley needs to take care of business and then get ready for the playoffs.  Should get a home game.

I really think the key to the win was the fact that Wesley played an incredibly disciplined game today.  Two penalties for a whopping total 10 yards and no fumbles really helped vs a team that had both lines dominating the game.  Wesley put their second half helmets on again today which I was praying would happen the entire first half.  They did and Salisbury never scored again with Wesley putting up 17 unanswered points.  Wesley could have easily been down by two TD's at one point, but the defense did what they needed to do to keep it to one score at the half.  Sure, they allowed 362 yards of rushing but they broke some really important 4th down conversions when it really mattered.

Hats off to the Sea Gulls for making it a tough, tough 60 minutes of football out there on the field.  Their triple option was never really tamed today as it was in the past.  However, they couldn't convert when it counted.

I agree Teamski, I had to wait about a couple days to comment as I was really upset. It was a great game and for the first time in year's, our offense wasn't really overwhelmed by your defense. However, two big plays on offense and a huge 4th down stop was all that was needed. One thing I realize what separates tier II from Tier I teams is field goals pass the 20, we looked horrid with our attempts, definitely could have change the outcome and kept MO. IMHO, I can only think of two or three occasions where I think both teams were truly evenly matched or if not better. I really thought we were going to run away with it based on the 1st half, I know Wesley made some adjustments, but it wasn't the stifling adjustments in year's past, I feel we made some very conservative plays down the stretch. I know this is hopeful wishing, but I would like to see Salisbury add that Shot-gun package displayed late in the 4th, it could have raised the ceiling of the offense. Congrats to you guys!

I got nothing other than opinions. I did notice that when one side of the ball was on the sidelines that the D was huddled with coaches. They were being coached. When the offense was on the sidelines, the coaches were either totally absent or standing in front of the O with his back to the team, watching the game. I saw zero coaching on the offensive side of the ball during the game. None! It was so bad, I took pics!

Discipline and disorganized. Leading the NJAC in penalties. That's a coaching problem. Again - the shirt tails....under shirts down to their knees, different colors. They look sloppy. I've never coached football and certainly never coached anything outside of rec leagues in other sports, but sometimes you just have to come down hard! It's time!!

A couple key Salisbury passes went long and that one fly play that had your receiver wide open in the second half was a sure fire TD if your QB had a better touch pass.   You end up living or dying by the triple threat.  For every two or three plays where you get some good yardage, there is the one with the QB eating his own ball.  As mentioned, Salisbury really poured on rushing yards but they got behind, and as usual, that is a tough hill to climb with the triple option.   They really needed that one TD pass to stay in the game.  It was a close one regardless and one of the best games I have seen in the series.  A real nail biter.

With no one above them losing they are not going to move up.  As far as some teams getting a better benefit of a doubt with some voters, that would also seem to be true.  There is a bias against the east, and based on recent national results the east other than a team or 2 does not fair well.  I am surprised by how some have not dropped much with narrow wins against lesser teams, but in the end a win is a win and many pollsters will not move teams up or down based on 1 result that is a win.  Wesley has a loss so being at 13 is fine.  Could they be higher, sure, but it is what it is.

NJAC pick 'em alert.

Friday night game.  TCNJ/So. VA

Embarrassing so far.  Not the way to get ready for the playoffs.  Seems like they may have taken this CNU team for granted.

Ok so thats not how you want to start. 3 turnovers in the first 7 minutes.... yikes.

Wesley getting lucky on this drive. CNU played themselves out of field position.

Hats off to Frostburg for winning  the ugliest and most penalized Regents Cup game I have ever witness. Frostburg was the better team at the end of the day with the result. However, costly turnovers and untimely dumb penalties kept the Gulls from winning. Again the FG team is horrid, not championship caliber at all. As a minor recap for the season, this was a very good defense, one of the best in years, but the offensive skill level was a tad bit above average at best. Ball handling and QB skill needs to improve for the ECAC and next season. I would play a lot of younger guys in big key positions offensively.
