Brockport looks like its going to be a shootout. Still think Wesley has yet to put a complete game together, which is both a good thing and a bad thing.

Looking at Brockport's schedule, my question is: who have they played? I get that the E8 is a traditionally strong conference and they eat each other alive, but there isn't really anything that stands out to me as far as opponents beaten. None of the team's they have played are better than 7-3, except Plymouth State who was never in the game to begin with today.

waterboy, they are good.  watched them a couple of times this year and Germanario is really good.  Wesley D will have it's hands full stopping their offense, especially after seeing what happened today with the RPI passing game.  The lines will have to play better as neither one did very well today.  Very little pressure most of the game from the D line and the O line did not open many holes for the running game.  I am not sure what to make of Wesley, they look mediocre at times and then you look at the scoreboard the game is not even close.  Burrough needs to put more air under some of his passes to give the receivers a chance to make a play.  Next week should be a good one.
I'm not so much questioning the talent level of Brockport as to the quality of their opponent. Wesley comes in more tested.

Just got back from the Salisbury game.  They lost the thing 27-17 after leading the game 17-7 into the 4th quarter.  They simply let the game slip through their hands.

This was one of the damnedest games I have ever watched.  In the 3rd quarter, an Ithaca assistant coach was ejected from the game that spawned a sea of flags from the Ithaca players. Check this out....it should a play of the week:  Prior to the penalty, Salisbury scored a TD, so on the resulting kickoff, Salisbury kicked off from the Ithaca 10 yard line!!!!  I have never seen anything like it.  They squibbed it to the 2.  Not soon after, there was a scrum of players from both sides that almost turned into a brawl.  Two players were ejected.  Now this included the crowd and I personally had to help separate two 55 somethings from trading blows.  See, they put everyone on one side of the field and that always causes problems.  So there was a cop warning them like kids not to screw up again.

Who ever said that DIII bowls are a waste of time never attended one!

Wesley come in with more questions than answers right now.  If they pull another first half like they did today refer to Week 1.

My feed was freezing up but Ithaca ran an option in the 3rd quarter where a Salisbury player hit the IC QB as he was sliding (although it was an option and the call could have gone both ways).  Anyway the ref threw the flag and a bunch of Salisbury players seemed to get excited over something on the IC bench and then my feed froze right when that was happening.

WTF was going on there?

That was separate from the ejection.  The coach was ejected when he went off on an official after Salisbury scored their last touchdown.  I think he felt that the guy was out before he touched the pylon.  The player ejections happened several plays later IIRC.

Ah ok.  Did they make all the fans sit on one side?  Noticed at halftime there was no one on one side of the field, but I figured that was because it was halftime and people were getting warm or something like that.

Not sure how you can call kick catch interference on an onside kick... Wesley got hosed there.... not sure why you wouldnt just kick it deep anyway though.

I think the coaches want to know what happened on that kick off too. I think maybe the ball fell off the tee because it was a muff not planned play

I don't think the ball bounced and when the receiver waved for a fair catch, all bets were off when he caught it.  We talked about that play at halftime and we figured that that was the case.  If the ball bounced then yeah, anything goes.

2 good wins for the NJAC.  I didn't expect Frostburg to beat Wittenberg, but they handled them easily.  Next week sets up pretty nice as far as games go.  Wesley gets Brockport and Frostburg gets W&J.  I think both teams can win, I think Frostburg is favorite despite the seeds and Wesley knows how to get it done so they will be ready for a tough Brockport team.  I believe both teams will be on the road, not sure about making the trip to Brockport yet, will decide that later in the week.

First, let me say congrats to Ithaca. They won. Let me say that the last three games have been the  most disappointing three game stretch I have witness in year's of watching Seagull football. Not that we are a horrible team, but the ability to not finish games or maintain leads is inexcusable  (not on players). I am hoping (really hoping) that we can reach another level on the offensive side. It is upsetting to see the defense play so well (all year, Top 15) and the offense not take it to another level, shockingly there were quite a bit of upperclassmen failing to make plays (maybe those guys shouldn't have been playing all season). Ithaca did all their damage after losing their defensive coordinator. Ithaca took advantage of that crazy situation (not going to go into detail) that was primarily started on their end and used it as fuel to take (literally take) the game from Salisbury, faking a punt, going for it on 4th, and using a trick play. I really wanted to puke after watching the last 5 minutes of the game. The whole set of events and poor performance the last 5 minutes took away what was a good watch to just lets just try to finish the game so we all can go home. Ithaca on the other hand said let's use this and WIN. I don't know if this game can be used as learning experience for players, except keep your mouth shut and keep moving (which they primarily did the whole game) or make your plays when the time is called, because you won't see that opportunity again (not because of opposing defensive calls). Again, my major disappointments for the season, is upperclassmen not coming in when needed and conservative calling down the stretch. Next year, we have to move towards being aggressive to finish games all the way through offensively and use your best players regardless of classification. The last 4 years have been above average (B-) at best, but that will not help you beat a surging Frostburg program and perennial top team in Wesley.

The Gulls simply could not sustain their drives in the 4th that would have won them the game.  Sucks really considering their poor start with several turnovers and almost consecutive chop block calls that got them behind in the first half.  They were the better team on the field.  I figured that when they went up 17-7 in the 3rd and with how well their defense was dealing with Ithaca, the game was won at that point.  I was worried about the Ithaca ejection rally and indeed, they drove from their 2 on the resulting kickoff from the 10 yard line, 96 yards to Salisbury's 2.  But, they failed to score, so I thought that bubble had burst.   Then Salisbury did their 3 and outs in the 4th and I knew there was going to be trouble.  You can't sit on a lead like that, not with Itaca still whooping it up.  I was pretty disappointed and left when Itaca intercepted the ball to seal the deal with a minute left.  I was out in the parking lot when I heard the announcer call the last touchdown.

I agree that Salisbury's triple option is a real handicap for them at times.  I love it when it executes, but man, it sucks when the ball squirts out of the running back's hands which undermines the entire offensive system with the risks involved and that did happen early in the game.  If the whole ejection thing didn't happen, Salisbury would have walked away with the win.  Ithaca had no answers in the 3rd, but you pump some Adrenalin into a team, a lot can happen.
