"He got hard right before he went for the slide."

When the announcers forget to add the word hit before hard it really changes the vibe of that statement.

Haha, good call.  I'm only watching on my laptop after all.

Great win, Brockport.  Keep it going.

Conrats to both teams on great seasons but in the end I think Brockport was better in every aspect of the game.

Dlip agrees. Wesley has a lot to be proud of. Like WD said, they'll be back and be very good next year.

Too much pressure along with long pass routes spells doom.  These teams are pretty even.  Brockport got it done with turnovers.  Wesley left points on the field despite all the mistakes.  2 defensive turnovers returned for TD's and game is over.  Brockport is good.  I think they beat Del Val and then will have to beat the winner of the St. Thomas/UMHB game, a tall order either way.  Wesley has to figure out how to get better play from the O line when they need it.  Lee will be fun to watch next year and plenty of receivers back.  The defense will fill spots, hopefully the linebackers will step up and improve the level there.  D line is going to be loaded again.  How the QB position plays out will also be interesting.  If the O line can not protect than Burrough will be the better choice.  Frostburg is going to be good also, so these 2 will be the favorites in the NJAC and 2 of the better teams in the East.  Brockport looks like they have enough returning so they will also be good.  The east teams are good, good enough to compete at the very top of D3, probably not, but we shall see how Frostburg does next week against Mount and the winner of the Del Val/Brockport game does against St. Thomas/UMHB in 2 weeks.  Compete in both of those games and the east will have made a step in the right direction.

A great team effort by Brockport. They certainly showed they were the better team. speaking of better teams...there were eight games today among the sixteen best teams in D3 football and this game, with a 21 point margin, is the closest. To me it just points out the competitive difference between the top teams in D3 and all the rest.

Congratulations to both teams today on a very entertaining, hard fought game...a few mistakes by each team, but I think this is what happens when Wesley meets a team that has athletes that are just as good ,and frankly were better coached, at least today. I thought Wesley really fought back well in the first half after getting slugged in the mouth. Brockport had a superior Offensive Line, a better QB(Germinerio was 24-28 at one point) and their WRs were comparable to a tremendous WR group from Wesley and had better hands today(also,Tyre Brown is a special player)..The RB edge went to Wesley , I was very impressed with TJ Lee as he found space where it was sparse...he is a great back.....on Defense, Wesley is very good, and often intimidating) but the Brockport Oline handled the pressure from the toughest Defense they have seen all year and did not panic(also NOBODY can stop the Brockport Oline when they get into the goal line Wildcat formation with Tyre Brown in the backfield as they did twice today) ...the Brockport Defense played like lights out in the second half...they got pressure on Burroughs and their db's were great in coverage and they dominated Wesley in the second half and left no doubt who the better team was today(sorry Wesleydad, these teams are not even)....now Wesley may feel the shock and disappointment that Hobart felt in our first game this year....but Wesley will be back as they always are and you should be proud of a very successful season....you just ran into the Brockport express...so ,do what I did and tip your hat to the better team and get on the train and root them on the rest of the way

Kudos to Wesley for a great season, and best of luck to Frostburg next week - it's not every weekend you get to line up against a QB awaiting trial for assault, but I guess those Stagg Bowls don't win themselves!

Oh man, THIS.  I keep waiting for them to talk about how many turnovers Brockport still would have forced if all it's defensive players were fourteen inches tall, with a Mini Mangone for a coach...

Ok, not trying to be a dick but Brockport announcers are officially out of control. They remind dlip of John Sterling speaking on Jeter... out of control  ;)

LOL!!!! Next to the 10" Mike Ditka......

Well, Burroughs had a rough day today.  The one player without playoff experience that Wesley had in a key spot.  His receiver corps failed him as well.  This was a winnable game; one that turnovers alone derailed.  You can't win a tight game with 5 turnovers. Silly turnovers to boot (to add a non-fumble as well).  Oh well, it was a good run while it lasted.  Congrads to Frostburg for moving on!

Ski,
I have no idea how you meant this, but the wording suggests you think that Wesley is Brockport's equal. Almost as if the turnovers were a fluke. I'm not saying you feel this way, but that's how it reads.  I think this is a trap that it is easy to fall into for Wesley fans.  Most games are "winnable" if not for the reasons you didn't win them.  But often the foundation of those reasons is actually that the other team is better. Part of being better is not making those mistakes. That is no fluke.  In fact, almost always, Wesley's season ends with a game in which they had a completely unacceptable number of turnovers.  In fact, since their playoff run began in 2005, in 10 of those 13 seasons, their season ended with a game in which they had 4 or more turnovers:

2017: 5
2016 :2
2015: 4
2014: 6
2013: 6
2012: 1
2011: 6
2010: 6
2009: 2
2008: 6
2007: 5
2006: 4
2005: 4

Congratulations to Wesley on a good overall year. Congratulations to Brockport on the win. You earned it. Good luck on the next step of your journey.

yep, the same old story.

wesleydad

Good season for Wesley.  Went as far as they probably could catching Brockport in the second round.  Looking back at the game, the difference was QB, receivers, turnovers, and game plan.  I stated earlier that Brockport had the advantage at QB and it showed yesterday.  Germanario made plays when needed and took what was given to him via the game plan.  Short passes all day and receivers who caught the ball and did something with it.  Wesley did the opposite, Burrough made some nice plays but the turnovers were not good.  The fumble on the scramble that turned into a TD was not even a hit by Brockport, just dropped.  The screen pass looked like a mess from the TV coverage, couldn't tell if it was a good play by the defense or poor pass.  The receivers did not help him much with at least 6 drops, some on key plays that would have kept drives alive.  What I did not understand is why Wesley never went to short, quick passes, which they have thrown all year.  The O line was Ok at best and struggled to give Burrough time.  Brockport was playing 8 - 10 yards off and on the snap dropped leaving the 5-7 yard passes open all day.  I could not tell if the other fumble was caused by the ground, but should have been put away so it could not be knocked out by Brockport or the ground.  This game was even, 28-21, after the first drive by Brockport in the third.  4 plays later and it is 42-21 and over.  Well, not really.  Wesley scores to make it 42-28 and the defense gets several stops in a row only to have the offense fail to punch it in and cut the lead to 7, with the help of the Brockport defense.  Brockport scores on a short field and a pretty even game ends up a blowout.  I will still say that these teams are pretty even.  If both teams play mistake free this is a barn burner.  Switch QB's and Wesley wins the game.  Brockport is good, real good.  I expect them to win this weekend as I think Del Val will have trouble scoring.  I will be making the trip to see what Brockport brings live.  I think that is the end for either team as neither one is good enough to beat UMHB.  Now if St. Thomas beats UMHB, don't see that happening, then all bets are off.  Good luck to Frostburg and their trip to Alliance.  Enjoy it and play hard, you never know, shock the world.
