Mount Union showing class by running up the score as usual.  I don't know of any other team that would throw a bomb after being ahead by forever.  Really impressive. Not.  You don't have to do that to show how good you are.

Mount has thrown a total of 16 passes all game.  That was the first play of the 4th quarter and they were up 30 something.  When do you pull the starters in a playoff game?  THey pulled them after that play so how much sooner should they have pulled them in your estimation?

I'm not talking about pulling starters.  I am talking about throwing a bomb which was one of those few 16 passes.  Just run the clock out.

As Joelmama pointed out, that was at the START of the fourth quarter AND Frostburg had 24 points on the board.

And THEN, after Frostburg soon scored a touchdown, the Mount kick returner ran about five yards, CLEARLY remembered the team had been told "no more scoring" and, without a Frostburger near him, took the ugliest looking knee in football history.

......and were leading by 39 points with 13 minutes left.  The game was over and yet a 51 yard bomb into the endzone. You cannot explain that away.

Two TO's in the last 20 seconds? I don't know of any other team who, being down forever, would call 2 TO's in the last 20 seconds.

Get over it. You're just showing your ignorance of Mount's philosophy regarding high scoring games.
Look back at some past games. Check out field goals on 1st down in the red zone. Look at runners going OB with no one around them. How about the knee down to end a play?
Mount Union is not St. Thomas. Mount Union is very good! I think playoff games play a little differently. Did you see the end of today's game?
"Mount Union running up the score as usual"? I don't think so!

A team with pride and fight. A team that wants to give their seniors on the field a meaningful last play or two before they end their careers...**** off with that **** purpled. No comparison.

Calm down. I don't think purpled was trying to start a war. My guess is Mount doesn't care if the other team calls all 3 timeouts in short time. Maybe he could have stated it better. I don't know.
Bottom line - The Raiders win again.

dlip,

Not trying to start a war at all just very sick and tired of reading/hearing how Mount runs up the score when the fact is this...the opponent isn't good enough to stop us and VK isn't telling his players to score.

Fair enough, dlip admits his post was a bit over the top. Dlip has the utmost respect for UMU. He believes wholeheartedly that if anyone from the east, or anywhere for that matter wants to take down the Mighty Purple they must do two things, STFU and get better, period. Dlip also guesses that Mount fans must be sick and tired of constantly defending themselves against opposing fans who complain about running up the score, constantly losing, etc, he gets it. He just felt that post was a bit much. Best of luck to Mount the rest of the way. They certainly are the type of program that we all (many of us) admire and wish our programs could emulate.

My only comment on "running up the score" was Poorman hasn't taken a meaningful snap in over a year and they wanted to let him play. It is the National Quarterfinals.

But after being on the wrong side of some beat downs this past season as a HS coach, I can see where making your play calling vanilla would show more sportsmanship.

Also could have been an option route and was supposed to be thrown short and the deep route opened up.  Poorman could have just read what the D gave him and let it fly.

Liked your last post. That's the type I'm used to reading from you. And I always read your "stuff".
I know you aren't usually hostile or in a seemingly bad mood. Gee, I still think you're "swell".
Thanks big guy (or little guy or even medium guy, whichever fits since I don't really know you).
I'll keep reading your views and opinions.
Almost forgot - Go Purple Raiders.

Wesley would've beaten Mt. Union, Brockport or Del Val had they played today. Particularly if:

1. They didn't lose last week
2. No turnovers
3. Played 4 quarters
4. Opponent turned it over 6 times
5. Opponent scored less points
6. Weather wasn't too cold
7. Field conditions were acceptable
8. Refs

Unfortunately the East is sending its second fiddle out to Mount next week. <yawn>
