Well the NJAC ends the season with Frostburg ranked 9th and Wesley at 12.  Not too shabby.  I recon that if Salisbury held on to beat Ithaca, they would have been somewhere in bottom half of the top 25....or at least just outside it at worst.

Would love to have seen Frostburg vs brockport

Great game it would have been, but Brockport would beat them 8 out of 10 times. Games in the 42 to 21 range.

Mike McCarthy, GB Packers head coach, has said on talk radio this week he isn't going to use the last game of the season as a preseason-like tryout for players, to get a look at younger players. He wants to win the game... Plus, Brett Hundley has played his best this season on the road; the Packers are in Detroit on Sunday...
So, it doesn't look like Joe Callahan will get any snaps....
But here's another update today:

That blows.  I really wish Joe could get a couple snaps at least......   Thanks for the update.

Maybe I don't quite understand the business of NFL football, but what do you have to lose? From the Packers' perspective, you get a chance to figure out if Joe is worth hanging on to based on how he performs in a game-live setting. Besides, it's not like Brett Hundley has been a superstar thus far.

I would like to see Detroit up 35 to oh lets say 9 (I mean Hundley hasn't thrown a TD pass yet...has he?) and its the end of the 3rd. In trots Joe and does his best Wesley vs Mount Union comeback. Goes 15 of 19 for 250 and 3TDs. Pack loses but people say "why the heck is this guy not playing more?".  Joe can play - I really think he is getting the shoulder because he wasn't drafted (Hundley was drafted 2nd round). The Pack has more invested in Hundley. But  still - they are on record that Hundley is staying as backup, and they are not making the playoffs. Imagine the trade value they could get if Joe goes in and has a great game.

Desertraider I would like to see all that happen but then have the Patriots swoop in and sign him to take over when Brady retires in a few years.

Trading is exactly why Hundley is playing.  He is on tap to get traded after this year (at least he was before his bad play).  The more snaps he got (it was hoped) the more tradable he would be.  I fear Joe will get cut again, but hopefully, either he will go back to the practice squad or another team will sign him.  It is amazing how many fellow Packer Fans wanted to see him play over Hundley.  That says a lot.

Joe Callahan got to complete his first NFL regular season pass today.  Way to go Joe!  Green Bay finally put him in with 2 minutes to go in the game after Hundley's 2 interception failure.

It's a damn shame he didn't get more time. That game was over a while ago. Wish I would have gotten the chance to watch too, was stuck with the audio feed on NFL Game Pass.

Someone on the E8 board noted that UMHB was looking for a home and home.... I kind of miss the days when Wesley was an independent. They always managed to put together an interesting schedule. They traveled everywhere playing pretty much anyone that wanted to play. But alas, with 1 OOC game that looks to be locked up, it takes away the mystery of the schedule next season.

I'm wondering, did the schedules Wesley played as an independent make them a better team compared to the schedule they play in the NJAC? Or is that reading too much into it?

Ooh, that is a good question!  I'm not sure if being in the NJAC hasn't actually affected their recruiting.   There might have been that attraction in the past of potentially playing D1 teams or the travel potential that while laborious, kept the schedule fresh that helped recruiting vs being tucked in a conference schedule.  I don't know.

Even when they were considered ACFC, they had some flexibility with their schedule. I just feel that with 1 OOC game it is kind of Meh. The 2015 OOC vs. North Central was great. I'm not saying that Del Val is bad, but it was nice to see Wesley branch off and play other teams outside of the D3 east region bubble. They even played and beat some tough teams from FCS, D2 and NAIA over that time too. Every D3 game was a playoff game, which I thought kept them sharper throughout the course of the year. You still have to win the NJAC, but there's a little more leeway when your conference has a Pool A bid.

Of course, the independent schedule did work against them (see the 2014 season stretch of Concordia-Selma, Lynchburg, College of Faith and Menlo).

Wesley's Matt Gono played in the NFLPA's Collegiate All-Star game at the Rose Bowl. Played the better part of the game and was even recognized by one of the commentators as the MVP of the game. See the link below!
