If there was a Michael Jackson GIF that I could insert. I love the banter from our two rivals. Makes for a more interesting season and some good activity on the NJAC Board (so long its good quality and not pure fanaticism).

MANDGSU, what are the Gulls looking at this year?

Wesley HNIC

Bobcat is cool to be a fan for Frostburg, but the disrespect of my friend Coach Mike Drass is a low blow, and won't be tolerated, I can't wait till we play your asses, because I'll be looking for your ass!!

It is going to be weird not seeing Coach Drass down there on the field Friday night.  Real weird.  :(

It's a bobcat's world and we're all just living in it.
Last time Frostburg beat Wesley: 2003. Gotta beat everyone to make it your world.
It'll happen this year. Should of happened last year but it'll be great to do it on their own home field.

Go Cats!
Thinking home games will come with a little more emphasis for the Wolverines this year....

Our game is week 6 the emotions of Coach Drass' passing will be worn off by then. Wesley won't be the powerhouse that they used to be.

Based on what?  The teams are essentially the same with the killer d lineman gone for Frostburg.  Wesley dominated most of the game before giving up big plays to let Frostburg back in it.  In the end Frosty couldn't get it done.  I expect the QB play for Wesley to be improved, Frosty already had a good one.  I just don't see what has changed that makes the Bobcats better.  Emotions or not, Wesley is better until Frostburg can prove otherwise.

Wesley couldn't stop the running game. Frostburg is the better offensive team as well as the better coached team.

Really, again based on what?  Your opinions are just that.  If Wesley couldn't stop the running game why didn't Frostburg score more points in the game?  As far as coaching goes, you have nothing to back that assertion up.  Cheer for your team and enjoy their success.  Use support to back up your opinions so that you can justify them.

First hand experience is my support.

oh and 279 rush yards in that game without our best running back playing.
As far as coaching i can pretty much guarantee you that Frostburg has the edge. But as you say there is a form of bias when it comes to evaluating coaches.

There was no disrespect meant towards Coach Drass, I have nothing but the utmost respect for what that man accomplished on the field. So i do apologize if it was taken that way. He would always play and coach the game the right way. He showed class and sportsmanship every game he coached.

I think it's the ultimate in respect for Mike Drass to say that without him this year, Wesley might not be as well prepared or as well coached. I do think that's a valid interpretation of something that could happen this year and it's something people are not really admitting or talking abour.

It comes down to the fact that we don't know how Wesley will perform this year, so stating that the team won't be coached as well as it has is sorta mute at this point......

Well, we don't know how any team will perform, so isn't every conversation point moot? :)

CNU85

Just my opinion and observations...a few years ago a CNU assistant coach suddenly passed during a bye week. The players loved this guy! The season tanked after that. The players and coaches struggled with the untimely passing of Coach Davis. Don't underestimate the impact on young minds with the passing of a great coach in Drass.

Having said that -- I think Wesley is going to be just fine this year. They were able to keep continuity in coaching philosophy. They had some time in the off season to deal with the immediate emotions. Sure, there will be much emotion this year when coaches and players take the field without their beloved Coach Drass. But somehow I see Wesley using this as motivation. Wesley, perhaps, will be something special this year. Keep watching!

T minus 2 work days before Rowan and Widener square off under Thursdays night lights! Not sure the meaning behind the 7:37PM kick off time.

Widener has a live video link in case anyone here needs to scratch the college football itch during the work week.

dlip will be tuned in for this tonight! Best of luck to both teams. Hoping for a competitive injury free game!

Hey Wesleyday!

Hope all is well. Regarding the Gulls, I expect the Gulls to compete this year at a high level. They did scrimmage Widener last week and from what I heard, it was a good scrimmage to evaluate some new guys on offense this year and guys that look to take on more of the starting roles from the starters from previous years As I aforementioned, with any option team, having a new QB is going to have its quirks. I believe that the defense is going to be the catalyst this year based on what the Gulls have coming back. From what I heard due to some administrative changes that occurred some year's back, the talent is not as a high level as it could be, but the coaching staff has been doing a great job finding good kids with good scores/grades to get in or some community college transfers to make up. If the offense gels quickly, we should be in a good position to make some noises, we were in every game until the 4th. So finishing is a big thing this year.

99 of those came on 2 plays... and Frostburg did run 27 more plays than the Wolverines in that game. So there's the other side of the coin... not to mention the EJ Lee "fumble" that was discussed forever before they awarded the ball to Frostburg on the 1.

You are forgetting that Chip Knapp has been there every step of the way (literally they were hired the same day). So its not like they are bringing in someone who is not familiar with the program, or someone with less on-field experience. They return a core of coaches who have been with Wesley for a long time. Azzanesi has been there 18 years. Healy 18, Nowakowski 13, Plews 13, Delgado 19.

So, there is a chance something like that could happen. But, I think no one is talking about it or admitting it because that isn't the expectation based on what we know about the program.

Thanks MAN, I was wondering what they had lost.  Always tough replacing a QB.  Good luck this week and the season.
