@d3jason

Frostburg looking good so far.

Wasn't the Rowan/Widener game 6-0 last year, 35 points scored so far early 2nd quarter. Rowan in the red zone.

dlippiel

28-14 Widener over Rowan with 3 min before half. Pride offense is explosive and multidimensional while Rowan is running well but so far has an anemic air attack. Pride D are loading the box and putting Rowan in 3rd and longs. dlip would continue this all night until the Profs proved they could beat them in the air consistently. Good game.

Rowan pulls within 7. Made a few nice plays. Aside from the anemic passing game they have played well tonight. Frostburg doing what they should with Stevenson.

Interesting to see that Wesley WR Alex Kemp is not listed on the 2 deep for tomorrow nights game.

Profs score passing on two out of three plays and get within 7 before half. 28-21 Pride. Rowan needs to continue mixing in the pass game in order to give their two big backs some room. Let's see how the Pride respond with 1:28 to go before the half.

Joe Callahan just threw a touchdown with 18 seconds remaining in regulation of the Eagles-Jets game. Gives the Eagles a 10-9 lead!

TheOsprey

Widener kicks FG to go up seven and Rowan returns the KO to tie the game at 31.  Profs ball less than 5 mins. to go. :o

Nice win by Rowan. Crazy game! NJAC starts the season off 2-0.

Also, I don't really like the fact that the NJAC's only OOC games are scheduled against MAC teams. Makes it tough to see how the conferences stacks up on the national scale.

ROW 41  WID 34 (2 OT)

Incredible game between Widener and Rowan

Profs kept it close, relied on big plays, and pulled off a win against a quality opponent. On paper, Widener was the much better team.

Tons of room for improvements on both sides of ball. Room to fix mistakes, reduce penalties, and gain more confidence passing the ball. The Defense allowed a few long passes in the 1H, but they played strong in the 2H. Def forced several sacks, but weren't able to create any turnovers

Transfer Rehm made a huge impact and earned player of the game honors with 3 massive specials teams plays including 2 KR TDs. Senior RB John Mannion had 177 yards rushing. Profs kicking and punting will be a strength for the team this year.

Rowan suits up again next Saturday on the road against SVU
Go Rowan! Brown & Gold!

Not all NJAC OOC games are against MAC

Rowan Phan, all points agreed with here.  Big special teams plays and an 80 yard run get Rowan the win.  Mannion is a stud.  Rehm is really fast.  Interesting new rule, fair catch on the kickoff and ball gets placed at the 25 yard line.  Widener tried everything to prevent kickoff returns and still got torched.  Squib kick returned after first TD.  High kickoffs fair caught and then Rowan returns one 100 yards.  The blocked punt was going to happen at some point.  Widener has issues on special teams.  They failed to cover the gunner on one punt and if Rowan had noticed the gunner, if the fake occured, would have run forever.  Agree, Widener may be the better team, even with all that mess, they could have won if they hit the field goal at the end of the game.

That is interesting.  Will be watching the game on video tonight.  hoping the rain holds off, mainly the lightning threat, and Wesley gets it done.

Huzzah for the Friday night game.  I'll be watching Wesley vs Del Val. Good luck to the Wolverines.
Go Rowan! Brown & Gold!

dlippiel

That's a big win for the Profs. dlip feels they could have packed it in multiple times during the first half but they continued to battle and believe. It will be interesting to watch the progression of both teams throughout the season. Can Widener tighten up the special teams mess and can Rowan get more balanced on O. Great opening night game for sure!
