Wesley o line is struggling. Wesley seems to be getting what they want downfield but cant get enough protection.

Last Frostburg TD was blown by referees.

There was an actual player who played bagpipes as they came out of the locker room.

Wesley doomed themselves. The end. Better team did not win.

I was following on live stats in second half.  This sucks. I was really pulling for Wesley.

Yep, the better team lost out there today.  It came down to an early missed Wesley PAT (that was the difference in the game), a very lucky tip of the ball, crucial turnovers and some silly special teams play.  I will refer you to my earlier post that Wesley can keep other teams in the game by simply committing errors.  It wasn't even penalties this time.  No, Wesley did pretty damn good at that.  But man, turnovers.  The 30+ yard pass that could have put potentially put Wesley up 21-7....fumbled.  So, Wesley goes into the half down 21-14.  Burroughs throws up two "punt return" passes for interceptions.  Killer.  So for every really good play Wesley pulled out today, turnovers undid quite a bit of it.    The Wesley punt returner returned the ball for a TD in one play and then caught the ball on the 2 and stepped out on another...... That type of game.   Frostburg is a good team, don't get me wrong.  But they were not as good as Wesley, however,  they were good enough to make each mistake hurt.  And hurt it did.

Now Wesley has to do what it has in the past and win out to snag a Pool C unless Frostburg hiccups.....

Overtime. CNU should have won in regulation if the freaking coaches know anything about clock management. Let's see what happens now in OT.

CNU should have took that FG at the end of the first half.  Great comeback.  It's  ashamed they couldn't finish it off.

Wow, You aren't kidding!  Coming back from a first half 21 point deficit to push the game into overtime.  Yeah, too bad they couldn't close the deal!

Wesley should get a "c bid" if they finish with one loss.  Salisbury is a contender,  but I'd be surprised if they win the conf..  MSU is the WC for now!

So here's the deal.  First - huge congrats to SU for finding a way to overcome the momentum CNU had. That's difficult in a hostile environment. Second-  Hats of the the CNU players. They did not give up, at all. They fought back into the game. Hats off to the D. They held SU to bately over 200 yards of offense. This from a team that lead the nation in rushing with over 460 yards per game.

The frustrating part from the stands, and I am in the majority here from where I was sitting— clock management. I'm not even talking about for the game or a drive....on each play.

I lost count how many times the head coach had to tell the OC to get it going or how many times he had to waste a timeout. I'm not even sure the OC is remotely aware of the play clock. After a timeout the clock sets to 25 seconds. The ref blows the whistle. The OC is still yapping with his players until the HC comes to break up the second verse of kumbaya.

I don't know how it works in college football coaching,  but in the business world, if my boss has to keep telling me how to do my job......well that's not cool. And it won't happen very often.

CNU85

Or when there is a minute and one second left in the game and we call a timeout before running a play...with 47 seconds left. 14 seconds gone! Had the HC not called the TO, I'm sure we would have snapped the ball with 21 seconds left. Ridiculous.

Congrats to Frostburg for doing what was needed to win the game.  Controlling the ball by running, 3 good backs, for 40 mins kept Wesley from scoring more than 34.  Cox was the game saver.  He escaped numerous times to keep drives moving.  The fluke TD off a deflection was possible because he avoided 2 or 3 players and just chucked it towards the end zone.  The receiver did not give up and came from behind the Wesley D back to deflect the ball into the air to be caught by another Frostburg player.  Wesley's missed extra point at 21-20 changed what they did and they went for 2 the next 2 scores, getting one, if the extra points are all made the game is tied at 35 and Wesley is not in desperation mode on the last drive which ends in an interception off a receivers hands.  5 turnovers will kill anyone.  The fumble off a long pass play should not have happened, the receiver was cutting back and forth for more yards and did not secure the ball.  Score there and it is 21 - 7.  Bad snaps the entire game cost them a fumble leading to a short field TD.  Then the bad decision to field the kickoff at the 2 as it was going to bounce out of play leads to a punt out of the endzone and another short field TD drive.  2 sacks on the next drive and another punt from the end zone and Frostburg has their third short field TD drive in the second quarter.  Frostburg won the game, but I believe Wesley is the better team.  Doesn't matter if you don't win the game.  Now Wesley has to win out and hope for some carnage around the nation to limit the number of 1 loss teams in the poll C group.  Winning out will not be easy if they don't clean up the mistakes.  Wesley has a nice group of receivers and the returners are very quick.  The defense had trouble stopping the run, but so will most teams, holding a team to 35 points with 40 minutes of possession is a pretty good job.  I also liked the more aggressive pass coverage.  Time to get to work and clean things up and hope that 9-1 is good enough to keep the playoff streak going.

Just did a quick check of current standings and there does not look like there will be the usual number of 1 loss teams around the nation.  MIAC will probably have 1, WIAC not definite if Whitewater beats everyone else, OAC is not a lock John Carroll has to win out, the CC may have 1 if Hopkins beats Muhlenburg.  The CCIW has a shot but they are beating each other so most will end up with 2 losses.  ASC with Hardin Simmons if they win out.  Most of the other chances fall to leagues that usually do not get a C bid.  Go get it done.
